They've been building up to this moment really well! In this series, Sparky has not been the best father, and his impulsiveness and rage actually resulted in bis son being hit and paralyzed by a stray shot either from his men's or from his own rifle. Optimus saved his son more than once, and Sparky finally learned from his mistake and redeemed himself by becoming one with the Matrix/Optimus' spark.
This is both very awesome and very f*cked up, lmao. But tbh I absolutely love the idea of optimus being someone's actual dad, even if they did it in a questionable way
@@detectiveghost8856 I think the only caveat to that is that it would HAVE to be willing and not just from the Autobots, but the Deceptacons as well. And that would be a MASSIVE ask for a good chunk of them
See this idw? This is how you write Op. he’s a guy with a heart so big he sacrifices the knowledge of the primes and power of the matrix to power a hospital. He is him!
Actually it didn't fully power the Hospital, crapped out after the "Sons" recovery because Prime kept routinely using it as lazy writing. This was just the writers nerfing the Prime filled powered Matrix to a mortal 1 spec of sand filled Matrix by a human man.
"Sparky" is the name given to Speed Racer's Chief Mechanic, lol. Totally different franchise, I know. Just giving that bit of information. Still, a Transformer x Speed Racer crossover.........wow. It had to have happened somewhere, now thinking about it. Totally off topic, ignore me.
I heard stories about people from 80s who grew up without their fathers and when they saw Optimus Prime in TV they saw a father figure in him so Optimus' new memories of him taking care of a kid is probably how these people without a father saw Optimus all along playing with them and most importantly be there for them...I wonder If that was the inspiration for the writer
Skybound has been absolutely killing it with this new series. It feels like such a love letter to TF history. Elements from g1, the movies, the IDW comics, and even Animated. Now if only we could get some Unicron Trilogy nods it'd be perfect lol
I haven't noticed any particular references, and DWJ himself admits he hasn't experienced a lot of TF media past his childhood. What parallels have you seen towards stuff like Animated and IDW (I assume you mean the first run)?
Hold up are we ignoring that a random living human just became pure energy and powered up a relic almost as old as the universe. Granted it’s the matrix of leadership but still people can just become energon this feels like something soundwave would discover and use to build a human energon farm.
_ The Matrix is supposed to house the wisdom of the previous Primes. So a soul entering it or it absorbing the memory of the soul isn't necessary out of the question, just rare & unusual. If explore further, it could show that human souls & Cybertronian sparks are more closely related than anyone thought. _ It would be funny, if inside the Matrix, Spike's dad is chilling with the Primes
@@aokhoinguyenang3992 imagine that Sparky just telling stories of Spike´s younger days to the more good sided Primes like Nova, Prima, Solus, Alchemist and the others
This entire series is fantastic. The depiction of Optimus is the most heroic i think we've ever seen- he even pleads with Soundwave to just set aside the fighting and work together to save their species.
If you think about it. Optimus now knows the importance of human life more that just having them around him. No greater sacrifice than a father's love for their children.
THIS IS WHAT I WISH HAD HAPPENED IN TRANSFORMERS PRIME Seriously , how is it that Optimus only now officially becomes a Human child's father .Considering how fatherly the character is , he should do it all the time , instantly adopting these tiny aliens .
It hits more when you remember bumblebee is dead and bumblebee is sort of like Optimus’s son so it’s like he gained a new son and spike gained a new dad
You have to remember that this is an Optimus who is essentially running on fumes. Both him and the matrix are severely depleted after going through countless battles back-to-back, refusing to be repaired time and again to give other autobot the chance to be healed instead, etc. Right now, this story is showing that even with next to nothing left in the tank, Optimus is still a beast. In other words, the authors are by no means underscaling Optimus or the matrix, they're just portraying a low point. Given how they've written Optimus thus far, I'm sure that he'll be on absolute demon timing when we do see him at full power in this continuity.
Are comic books going through that weird experimental phase again, like they did during the "Underground comix" movement in the 60s or the "alternative comics" movement that it inspired in the 80s? Because I'm totally down for that.
DWJ has been pushing the boundaries of what kinds of stories can be told within Transformers and I love it, praying his run can last at least two more years.
In Skybound Optimus loses his arm in the fight against Constructicons so after the battle they take Megs arm and give it to Optimus (Megs is for now dead in the Skybound comics with Soundwave being the leader) Edit: just learned Megs is alive so I was wrong
I might be wrong, but Prime said the spark holds their life force and their memories, so merging with the matrix that combines with optimus Prime's spark resulted in two different memories or more colliding as if it were a forgotten memory. Even though the matrix holds the knowledge of the other Prime's, if a human merges with it, it changes something in the matrix, making that kid or other part of the memories a so-called "knowledge." now.
Nice touch having the fusion cannon/Megatron arm point away from Earth in the Atlas reference/homage art. Even when being forced to use it, Optimus refuses to use it recklessly
In a way, it's kind of wholesome; he knows what Optimus gave up to save his son and all the other patients in that hospital, and he in turn chose to give up his own life to save Optimus, but he lives on as part of Optimus. It's like how sometimes, people who get a new heart will start craving the original owner's favorite foods or enjoying their favorite music.
Y'all are calling this effed up or sad... While I see that it's kinda sweet, especially seeing baby spike in Prime's hand, teaching the toddler to write and stuff... That's just heartwarming
It’s cute but realistically speaking it’s really dark and looking at how serious this comic is I could see the writer delving into how this will negatively affect optimus mind
You kinda got it wrong, spike was injured by humans as he tried to help Optimus against skywarp (don’t know what he thought he was gonna do) and in the crossfire was shot
