I'm wondering what kind of gains could be had with a Ryzen 7. Would it make any difference having the extra cores and threads. To be honest this is about the performance I was getting from a 4th gen i7 and the rx550 on an older SFF Dell office machine. Ordered 2 of these 5055s and looking forward to testing with them. Thank you for the content.
Probably doesn't make much difference increasing core counts, the original ps3 was only a tricore cpu. The games would be heavily single core and the emulation is the same even tho its more heavy workl9ad but most of that getw picked up by the gpu anyways. Most of the performance emulation comes down to custom settings to run perfectly for the hardware.
Haven't tried the 360 emulation scene since I have a modded console to try that. But the PS3 emulation was tricky in my desktop PC which has much better specs compared to this Optiplex (Ryzen 5700x and Radeon 6700 XT). You absolutely need to tweak the settings for a more than decent experience in higher resolutions.
