Thank you for doing this one, Kyle. I'm very nostalgic about this stretch, having driven it 25 years until my retirement. Actually brings a few tears, a special part of my life. The beautiful landscape was always heartwarming. In winter, it could be pretty scary on snow and ice, especially at night. 140 had more dangerous drivers, though, than I've seen anywhere, anytime. Actually crazy, lethal driving, and many accidents. You captured the beauty and memories very well. Thanks again.
Thanks for the trip!! I always loved that drive and enjoyed camping at Fish Lake. It was much quieter than Lake of the Woods. Beautiful area. Just a tip but you may want to slow down the speed during the twists. It makes for a more comfortable ride. Otherwise great video. Thanks for the memories.
The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail crosses this highway near the summit, and there are lava beds just off the road. Mount McLoughln, a major Cascade volcano, elevation 9490', is nearby to the north. You see it much better if you're coming in the opposite direction.
I've taken this route once, from K Falls to Medford; and it's been so long ago I can't remember exactly when it was, but it had to be somewhere in the late 80s or early 90s.
Good video as usual. That was a nice, scenic drive. I noticed that in some parts of the video, the forest looked like it had been thinned out-and that's a good thing. Thinning out means much less fuel for fire. And did you know you were still in Bigfoot country? There's been a few sightings in that part of the state....
White City and surrounding territory sits on the "Agate Desert," and was made into a major military training base, Camp White, during World War 2. It's now an industrial area. If the citizens of White City ever get around to incorporation, they should go back to its original name, Camp White, in recognition of its proud military history. Especially as it contains a large Veterans' Administration medical, rehab, and residential facility, and has its own military museum.
Hopefully in the future southern Oregon will be part of Idaho! Southern Oregon has no voice in the state capital in Salem. Northern , From Eugene North, controls the state regarding laws passed and elections in Oregon. So the hope is to remove a current section and join Idaho! Possibly named Greater Idaho.
