The GWM ORA Ballet Cat was one of the most popular cars on display at Auto Shanghai 2023. Its retro styling is a homage to the Volkswagen Beetle, but is much larger in person. You can read our ORA reviews here: www.completeca...
Fabulous looking car. The two tone scheme is a breath of fresh air compared to today's boring choice of black, white, silver or grey. And, as for interior.....I'd buy it and spend all day just sitting it....and that is two tone as well. Loved tge chrome touches and the retro horn ring. Fabulous package!
The US has essentially given up making small, affordable cars. Bring one that looks like a Beetle to the states and I don't think they'll be able to keep up with orders.
The fact that GWM is ready to cater to demand for this retro-cute look while VW sniffs about the Beetle being one of those "vehicles that have had their day. It wouldn't make sense to bring it back" (direct quote from VW CEO Thomas Schafer), along with estimates that if VW delivered such a thing they'd have to price it somewhere in the $50-60k range (presumably due to development costs vs. low estimated sales volume) tells you everything you need to know about VW's troubles. That crew has completely lost the plot. At least they don't seem as clueless as the Japanese, so I hope they turn things around over there; otherwise the Chinese are going to wind up owning this business.
I do not have a driver's licence (for a car) because there are no cars that I like the appearance of. This launching in Norway would change that. I'd get a licence just for this. The only problem I have with this is the size. it is TOO BIG. I'd love for it to be the same size as an actual authentic beetle.
If they bring such car to Europe, then they will have to pay Volkswagen Royalties? but in China they can get away with it because no copyright laws exist at all there.
🌏😃😙At last ! A beautiful car on 2020'ies. Except Ford Mustang or Camaro, Fiat 500 and some Renault, today's cars are absolutely ugly like BMW or some TOYOTA.
I'm betting they had to deviate juuuuuuust enough from VW to slide by copyright/trademark mumbo jumbo. I figure if VW doesn't have the guts to put out a true beetle, let someone else have a crack at it.
I liked this car when i first saw it, I'm in South African and not sure how long it will take care our Government to encourage buyers to follow the electric way, thank you for presenting this beauty.
The front needs a revamp it's ugly but otherwise yes nice interior and the rest of it looks OK so ye maybe it would do OK in Europe if it ever came here.
