**UPDATE - SUMMER 2023** - The iO3 is now available in the UK. It has a retail price of £160, but should sell on average at £80 or less. iO specific brush heads are still 2x that of a non-iO head. It's not a terrible buy, but long term ownership costs are higher that more affordable alernatives.
Important is to rinse brushhead with lukewarm water then tap and dry it with a small cloth. Doing so it will dry quickly and last a very long time. The blue part on the brush will have a longer lasting and proper function.
This is all you need tbf, the tracking app isn't necessary, neither is the screen. The only thing you really need is the pressure sensor which this has and the added bonus of a light telling you when to change the brush head. No need to pay more than this as the lowest io model has all you really need. I actually have the series 8 myself, but have realised it isn't necessary. I used the app maybe only two times because it just isn't needed in reality.
The Oral B IO3 always starts in Daily Clean mode, then cycles through the following modes in this order: Whiten, Sensitive according to Oral B tech support.
This isn't true, it starts with the last mode you used before you switched it off. I just bought this brush and trying to figure out which mode is which is getting ridiculous. You wouldnt know what the pulsating mode is called? If I know what the pulsating one is, ill be able to figure out the rest of them
@@marcussingh820I personally think that the pulsating one is the whitening one because the pulsating one gets rid of the plaque better. I’m not sure tho.
I like this tooth brush a lot, affective for the right clean and the best price. I have had issues removing plaque from my teeth in the past and when I switched to an electric toothbrush it seriously helped a lot. This product is probably a lot better though, I recommend viewers to purchase for sure.
It's a good purchase for many patients who don't have the budget for a "luxurious" 6 or up. They do what they need to do : brush well. They have "landed" in the Netherlands, and have seen them on sale for €60.
I have this brush and have been frustrated determining which mode I’m in as well as many other people. I recently looked at listened to the brush while dry and you can see and hear the pattern change. Whitening is the most obvious as there is a “revving up and down” in both the sound and the visual movement if the brush head. Seems to be some debate as to whether the brush resets to daily clean after being powered off OR if it saves the mode you most recently brushed with. Again I just tested for this by changing the mode, turning off the brush and then back on. My experience, it saves the mode and does not reset. This is also is what the instructions which came with the brush says.
The most annoying thing about the series 3 is that it could have easily indicated the selected mode without any change in design. I noticed the light ring is RGB, as indicated by it pulsing various colors in certain circumstances. Had Oral-B simply coded the firmware to have the the ring flash a specific color for each mode there wouldn't be the common criticism and customer frustration.
It feels a bit harsh when I first used it But over a couple days I got used to it and it does have sensitive mode as well which can be used if you want the brush to be sensitive while cleaning
It varies by model. But control features such as the order of modes, brushing time, colored lights. In premium models it can offer tracking of the toothbrush position.
Downgraded from an io9 to this one in the span of 3 days lol. I'm a geek but not only does the screen drain battery, the brush would constantly not connect with the app automatically and for the two times it did, I realized it's just not worth the hassle opening the app, turning on bt and gps and looking at your phone the entire time while brushing. I even had to sent it in for repair and got a new one under warranty (which I then sold). The io3 is more than enough
Really helpful - the world of iO toothbrushes is more complex than I'd realised! Thank you Electric Teeth. By the way I got a pink one - from Boots in London.
I have extremely sensitive teeth and gums possibly Trigeminal neuralgia so hate brushing the teeth as it hurts me, would the IO brush be gentle on my teeth as the micro vibrations scare me as think they will cause pain. The Gentle clean heads are they extremely soft as the normal oral b sensitive heads are still to hard for me. I’m thinking of the oral b IO 6. Can you help.
Do you use an electric toothbrush now? If so what one? If you use a manual brush, do you find this too intense/painful? I'm not personally a dentist and feel like getting personalised advice from yours might be beneficial. The gentle care brush head bristles are 'soft' and similar to the normal Oral-B Sensitive heads. For most they are fine, but the configuration of the bristles may result in a different sensation that you may or may not find comfortable.
I've not seen such on the packaging I have for my iO3. Where did you buy this model? Definitely the iO3? Feel free to email images to me. Contact details listed in the channel information.
Hi Jon and Electric Teeth, does the iO 3 (and others in the iO line, such as iO 7) remember the last brushing mode setting used? I am asking prior to purchasing because I only want to ever use the Sensitive mode, and never the Daily Clean or Whitening modes. Can I just set it to Sensitive one time, and every time after that the brush will automatically turn on with the Sensitive mode? Or do I have to cycle to the Sensitive mode every time I turn it on and use the brush?
Good question. The iO3, 4 and 5 don't remember the modes don't remember the last mode used. They default the the first mode available, daily clean. The iO6, 7,8,9 & 10 do remember the last mode used and will return to this the next time the brush is powered on.
iO3 is a nicer brush to use all things considered. But, brush heads are 2x the price of those for the Pro 3 3000. The differences between them are fairly small so we rate the Pro 3 higher because of the value for money it offers. Both clean the teeth comparably.
So if Io 3 doesn’t even have a Bluetooth function, what are its benefits compared to say Oral B pro 33500? Does IO3 have a different motor or battery life compared to Pro 33500?
Different motor. It is a magnetic motor which is quieter and slightly more gentle. Both offer an oscillating and rotating motion, but iO models offer micro-vibrations instead of pulsations of the Pro 3 3500. Note, the iO3 isn't available in the UK/Europe yet (as a general rule) where the Pro 3 3500 is normally sold.
You don't need expensive clothes but clean teeth makes a profound difference for appearance and being well-kept. Bad gums also os a source for cardiac problems. I think it has to do woth bacteria going from bad gum out in the bloodstream to the heart.
It can vary from one country to another, but usually it is the box contents. The toothbrush itself is the same. I believe the normal difference with the iO3 Limited vs the standard iO3 is that it comes with 2 brush heads rather than 1. You get a travel case and a brush head refill holder/case that holds up to 2 brush heads.
The only difference I am aware of with this version is that it comes with a 'brush head refill holder'. Basically a little case with a silicon base and a plastic top to hold 2 brush heads.
i am confused between smart 1500 , io3 , io4. 1500 is for 80 bucks. and on amazon rightnow on sale io3 is for 60 dollars and io4 80 bucks same price like smart 1500. which one should i get, thanks.
It's a tricky one. My pick would be the Smart 1500 because replacement brush heads are half the cost of those for the iO Series. So over the life of the brush the iO is more expensive because of these heads. The iO3 is a very nice brush with a better pressure sensor. So, if you are happy to pay a bit more for the heads, then this is a good option. I would avoid the iO4. It's only benefit is Bluetooth connectivity and the benefits of this are limited. All the brushes clean comparably.
hey, thanks alot. on amazon , replacement heads 5 pieces are for 26 dollars and for io series 4 pieces for 30 bucks so i find it okay not a big difference , but i found more variety like gum care etc for regular oral b brushes . i am avoiding io5 because of loud noice. @@ElectricTeeth
👍 Don't worry about the different brush head styles. They don't make much difference. Stick with the Ultimate Clean or Gentle Care (softer bristles) and you will be good.
hey, i am planning to buy my first electric toothbrush. my lower teeth and gums are bit sensitve. i have options in my mind are smart 1500, io3, io4 , io5. after alot research and still confused. on amazon smart 1500 is for 80 dollars, and io3 on sale is for 60 bucks , and io4 for 80 , io5 for100. now , io5 complains are it makes mess . so its out. please help me out in other 3 choices io3,io4 , 1500. thanks.
Well the Smart 1500 would be our top pick. It has the essential features you need and the brush heads are affordable. The iO3 is the next best. It has a better pressure sensor than the Smart 1500, but brush heads are 2x the cost. So it is more expensive long term. Importantly both clean the teeth as well as each other.
No evidence that I know of to really confirm this. If there is a difference it will be negligible. The iO3 gives a slightly softer brushing experience and is quieter. If you have a Pro 2 2000 now that works fine, I would encourage you to stick with that.
@@ElectricTeeththe only thing you can barely recognize the different modes is based on the the sensitive mode because it's the softest, and then, as you said, you need to learn the other modes
Red blinking light is when the power is low, but this usually happens when off the charger and not on it. Have you left it on the charger for some time? Has the light changed?
there are 3modes and the very first mode when you turn it on is daily mode. from here there are two more modes which is sensitive and whitening consecutively. Sensitive one has pattern of weak-strong-weak-strong, like a wave, we can visually observe this pattern by looking at the head part as well. The whitening one can be harder to tell because we are simply relying on the sound it produces without having any pattern like sensitive mode. However, there are only 3modes in this toothbrush and whatever comes after 'sensitive' mode is the Whitening mode. If we get confused by in the process somehow, we can simply restart the tooth brush and press the mode button twice and that should serve the purpose!
The brand and model review videos on your channel are overwhelming. I want one water flosser and one electric brush. Price isn't a problem. Just tell me what to buy. I'll be using them both on max setting on clean mode.
Don't worry we have you covered. Best electric toothbrush - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gfyjtvmLfY4.html Best water flosser - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E4HZCaeoDmg.html
I've used a Pro 2 for 3 years and got myself this toothbrush (iO3) I've used it for about 2 months but i've had tooth sensitivity throughout my mouth which never happend before with an electric toothbrush. I've tried brushing with sensitive mode only and with the Gentle Care toothbrush heads but the pain still didn't go away. Now i'm back to brushing with a Pro... I think it has to do with the pulsating, it's simply too fast. I really like the design, but a toothbrush really shouldn't be able to damage the enamel, just like the Pro series, which is side-by-side clearly not as potent. At the same time I also realised how much better the Sensitive Clean head is in comparison with CrossAction (these are not for iO), which only touches the gums with soft bristles and whose bristle's diameter is also narrower, which imo is more fitting as teeth surfaces aren't nearly as big as a CrossAction head.
So at 2 minutes there is no pausing of the brush movement/change of sound? Its 3 brief pauses. If you turn the brush off just after 2 minutes have paced do you get a rainbow pattern on the light ring?
@@ElectricTeeth Yes there is small pause after every 30sec, i can manual turn toothbrush when i want and then is rainbow. Is that small pause after every 30sec timer ?
The sensitive setting offers less pressure, pay attention the next time you brush and go through the 3 short options slowly. You will notice sensitive over the others.
Have you figure this out yet? Look at your brush. The whitening mode pulsates. It’ll speed then slow, speed then slow. You can see the blur slow down by looking at the brush. Daily clean-Sensitive-Whitening are the modes.
Thanks for the video, you have all the other brushes in the series so im hoping youll be able to help me identify the modes. I just bought this toothbrush and its crazy how theres no description of the mode behaviours on any of the manuals for us to figure out which mode we're using. Could you please help. The 3 behavious are, fast vibration, medium vibration, and pulsating vibration. The mode names are Daily Clean. Sensitive, and Whitening. If you could tell me which mode has a pulsating behaviour, ill be able to figue out the others. Thank you, it would be much appreciated!!!
Thank you for swift reply & your right, can’t figure out why the older model has it from 4 years ago (one I had) not even an io range, anyhow thanks, was looking forward to the feature in which shows areas brushed & missed, wonder if u have any insight into how good it is
Many older models do have Bluetooth, but they tended t be the more expensive models at the time. You don't need it to clean the teeth well, but some like it and find it motivating. They create the different models/specs to appeal to different people. You won't get any feedback on how well you have brushed/areas you have missed with this model. You would need to upgrade to the iO5, 6 7, 8 9 or 10 for this. It does work, but it definitely isn't perfect.
You have to remember the modes/order. It is usually Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening Daily Clean is the loudest with a consistent noise pattern. Sensitive is like daily clean only less intense. Whitening has a saw like sound going up and down.
yep replaceable battery would be great but two major points missing noise, and dirt accumulation in the io series as pointed by this youtuber : ru-vid.comXUdEN5eSfh8
The video link is broken. The iO3 is quieter than other non-iO models. But, granted it is louder than the likes of a sonic toothbrush from Philips Sonicare for example. Dirt & grime accumulation is common on all toothbrushes. But, Oral-B heads with holes in are prone to significantly more (we are working on a video about this). I am assuming that is what you mean, given I haven't been able to view the video. Daily rinsing of the toothbrush usually overcomes this issue.
