Hello everyone, I was on topical minoxidil for 9 months, then I stopped it and I switched to twice a day 5mg oral minoxidil 3 months ago, I confirm it's more effective. I didn't notice any side effect, my body hair is already thick, I am 26 years old.

ME too, I started at 17 and I did not know about the FPHL so I thought it was from stress but it never stopped since. AT 27-28, I barely had hair to get the pony tail and I still did not know WHERE or WHICH doctor I should visit because seem like no one talked about this kind of hair loss in my country. at the age of 40, well, I just started the treatmnet..sad
You Definitely should and I hope you do get more videos on that topic for sure but don't say it's more devastating for girls. Losing your hair is equally bad. I've shaved my head last year to try and embrace the baldness but loads of girls said I looked way better before (I didnt tell them I did it because of androgenic alopecia). Been balding since 18 and I'm 22 now, started taking all kinds of drugs that effect my hormone levels and even sexual health just in the hopes of getting some of my hair back. Balding sucks for everyone, not just women. That's all I want to say.

Minoxidil had a black box warning and is rarely used for BP due to side effects. One of them is pericarditis which is a buildup of fluid around the heart.

I am using 1.25 mg for a year. No side effects but no new hairs. I am going to increase it to 2.5 and instead of finasteride start dutasteride which is the same price.
I was having terrible hair loss earlier this year because of androgenetic alopecia. My dermatologist prescreibed shampoo + topical minoxidil + capsules of minoxidil and after 3 months i had really a lot of hair on my scalp 😍 BUT! Then the dermatologist suggested I stop taking the capsules, and my hair started to fall down a lot again 🙃 so i am back to the capsules now
@@davidanana Because minoxidil only promotes growth and does not slow the cause of the hair loss which is what FIN and DUT can do. They block DHT in the scalp. YOu have to target both.
Hey! I got a question! So I'm currently changing from topical to oral minoxidil. The thing is, I've been on topical for a few years and it's minoxidil 5% which I applied twice a day. Now, I'm consuming 2 tablets of minoxidil 0.5mg each, and I'm afraid that it might be a very low dosage compared to the topical 5%. What are your thoughts? Should I get bigger tablets? Hi doctor , it's been five years for me using topical minoxidil. In the initial years I found it effective but now I can see the hair thinning a lot so should I additionally take 2.5 mg oral minoxidil at night with topical 5% minoxidil at morning.
Hi, I read on Wikipedia that cardiac lesions and pericardial effusion have been reported with oral minoxidil. Do you view these as cause for concern with the dosage for hair loss? What dosage in men do you think is best to avoid these possible side effects while also stimulating hair growth?
Cardiac lesions were detected on some animal studies but not monkeys or 150 humans who had autopsies performed after taking much higher dosages for blood pressure.
Hello, I was recently prescribed 2.5mg oral minoxidil capsules to take daily. If I were to open the capsules, split the powder in them and take approximately half a capsule per day (i.e. 1.25mg per day), would this be effective? Or would it not because the capsule has been opened so the powder would already be exposed on consumption? Many thanks.
Does minoxidil break down in sunlight like sunscreen? Is it OK to put in hair and then go outside without a hat? Or will that form some weird breakdown product which causes hair to fall out?

No one is recommending any higher then 5mg. In fact most say 1.25 - 2.50mg is fine. 10mg will lower your blood pressure and cause fluid retention. Not healthy.
10mg is way to much. You don't need that much drug to grow hair. A larger dose is not more effective. It just exposes you to more side effects, some of them nasty. Besides, you will have a hard time finding a reputable doctor who will prescribe this high a dose. Men who take these high doses buy it on the internet without a prescription from an unlicensed vendor. Don't do that. Much like with street drugs, you have no idea what you're getting.
What happens if you’re taking minoxidil and you later decide to get a hair transplant because you don’t want to commit to taking it every day? Would the hair transplant still be effective given that shedding is likely to occur?

I've been taking 2.5 mg daily for the past 6 months now, and I have been completely fine. The topical stuff used to give me some major headaches, and even heart palpitations. I hear the oral version is dangerous, particularly for the heart, but I've been fine so far. I don't know if you should do it or not, but just sharing that info with you.
I'm exactly the same as you. Plus I get a rash on my leg from the Propylene Glycol that is in 5% Minoxidil and hypotension. Tempted to try tablets and see if they're any better. One thing I've found is that one box of 6x minoxidil may be formulated slightly differently than another batch of 6 as my rashes vary from batch to batch.
Love how informative this channel is. After 6 months of topical minoxidil, the resulting hair growth was very curly and wiry lustreless hair (my hair otherwise is straight) - have you come across this before? I have read about acquired progressive kinking of the hair but there seems to be very little info out there, and I don't know if it was this, the minoxidil, or something else which caused these strange hairs to grow.
Not my experience with either topical or oral minoxidil. Wish it could make my hair grow curlier. Even wiry would be welcome. I've had naturally curly hair all my life just like my father. And just like him, the hormone changes that occur at mid-life made our curls relax a bit as we grew older. I still have curly hair, but not as curly as before. I miss it.

Hello doctor, I was wondering what is the right way to apply minoxidil? Does it has to be in whole head scalp or only specific area? When I tried to use it before I applied it only on specific area but I found that my losing hair cicle never ends even after few months, I think when I applied it only on specific area one day I could accidentally apply more on another area of my head so some days these spots of my head (which not supposed to be treated) get minoxidil as well but another days it didn't get enough minoxidil, so I couldn't stop losing my hair, so should I apply it on entire head to prevent false hair loss and false stimulation? You need to apply it to the scalp, not the hair. Just apply it to the area that is being affected. If you find that you are still losing hair, it might be worthwhile seeing someone for a consultation and considering another agent.

Hello there, I'm looking for any advice from other Minoxidil users. I recently started the Hims topical Fin+Min combo I'm only 8 days in but I think I had the onset of a chest infection coming on at the same time, It seems to be going around the UK atm. The side effects from Minoxidil which I do feel I am experiencing actually also similar to the symptoms whilst dealing with a chest infection, so I'm slightly worried/ confused on what to do right now regarding continuing the topical. The last 2 nights my symptoms have been almost like sleep apnea like which I don't suffer with, or restrictive breathing when I try to sleep. As I'm on the cusp of falling asleep I immediately gasp for air in a panic this happened throughout the whole night. I wouldn't say heart palpitations. I did try propping my pillows up made no difference. So, I'm wondering if perhaps the twice daily of the 5% Minoxidil is too much for me ? and whether i should adjust to one application a day " morning" or using my common sense lol and stopping it altogether until my chest has cleared and the antibiotics I am currently on have finished " 4 days worth". Any info would be much appreciated
Hey doctor, do you think that a person on a norwood of 2 or 3 (top of hair 6.2 cm from eyebrows, a bit of bitemporal recession, and crown started thinning) can go completely bald in a few years? Finasteride remains in your system for atleast 3 days straight....so 0.5 mg of fin daily will do the job with very less likely of side-effects..... checkout his other videos on finasteride
What's the long term(10-20yrs) safety, efficacy and efficiency of low dose(2.5gm)oral minoxidil! I am21, NW3, planning to start on Oral minoxidil (as topical is too time taking and needs consistency which I obviously lack).if I start on it I would potentially be taking it life long as long as to keep my hair! my question about oral minoxidil is that what if you are not a diffuse thinner, but a receding hairline kind of guy. won't oral minoxidil affect you because with topical you can apply directly to the receding hairline ,but oral will affect your the whole head.
That is why I start on 2.5mg oral minox as I'm a diffuse thinner. I have a full head of hair, it's just very thin (I'm 52 so I guess that's aging for you). we shall see if it helps. I've been on DUT for 3.5 years which completely has stopped any hairloss/thinning.

I used almost everything.I got great result from fina a topical minoxidil + dermorolling (my before and after pics are very famous!). Anyway, nothing compares to oral minoxidil. I've been taking in for 3 months and mu density/thickness went to the roof!!!!

Yes you lose everything on your head. Not sure about beard or other body hair though. There's a few people I've seen like with minoxidil beards who've been able to keep around 60% of their new beard follicles
Ive been using topical Minoxidil for a year and a half with great results but the last 2 months my hair started falling out again. A dermatologist put me on 2.5mg Oral Minoxidil today. Seeing i was still using the topical up to today will i still have shedding with the Oral Minoxidil?
I've just started a 2.5mg daily dose of minoxidile in combination with taking finisteride daily. I did use the topical version for a while but found it difficult to maintain consistency as hated the mess it would leave my hair in after applying it. So I didnt really see much benefit. Hopefully I get on better with the tablet instead
@@dunes1011 well its very early days so I cant comment on results yet, but I will say, Im sooooo glad I dont have to gunk up the front of my hair with the topical stuff anymore, definitely dont miss that! I havent had any side effects or anything either so, so far so good. Hopefully ill see some results in a few months!
@@OA-10 hard to say at this stage. I've been noticing alot more hair loss over the past month or two. Now, I don't know if that's shedding as before I use to only apply to liquid version to my front hairline, not my whole head. So either shedding in places are experiencing minoxidile for the first time or this tablet form isn't working well.

@@DOCFIT_09 So far so good. 6 months in. I do experience higher heartbeat. I can definitely feel it on my system but diesn't bother or hinder anything. Hair has thickened a lot, it's great.
@@LarsRyeJeppesen my condition is very pathetic… I started to use Kirkland minoxidil around 3-4 years ago when I was 22-23….at first the results were great…i also tried different brands of minox and it worked for me….but after 2-3 years i lost around 40-50% of hair which i gained from it regardless of applying it daily at night…after that my hair growth became totally stabilized like no more regrowth and hair also became very thin…few months ago i consulted a dermatologist and he gave me dutasteride with minox….after taking dutas for 4months still no improvement in hair and growth….so i started finasteride now 6 days a week with dutasteride 1day a week…and also started oral minox 2.5 mg from yesterday…!

Hey guys quick question, so I took finasteride for 6 months with no success but I also had no negative side effects. Since then I have discontinued use of Fin by recommendation of a doctor and am thinking about moving to Dutasteride. Would I be less likely to get those negative side effects considering I didn’t have any on fin? Also since discontinuing use of fin my hair lose has increased is it possible I should’ve given the drug more time?
KingSultanTV that’s true but unfortunately some people report permanent sexual side effects even after discontinuing use so that’s why I’m hesitant, just would rather have a bald head than a permanently defective unit lmao

Depends on what your definition of success is? If you were stable, then that is a success. Your chances of side effects are always going to be more on dutasteride in comparison to finasteride.
The Hair Loss Show I was not stable, still shedding at a similar rate I am now. So now I’ve got the Dut but am hesitant to take it. Would love to know what you think is best, thanks for the help!
I went to my dermatologist in US and they do not prescribe it here either. The only way is to see a Hair Transplant surgeon (usually you can get free consultation) and they are more than likely to prescribe it (off label) if you ask. In East Asia it is already 100% approved by most countries, but it hasn't gone through the same process yet in many countries in the west
