Finally someone to show what the Orange AD30 sounds like. Greenbacks along with the AD30 is a good combination. I love the sound of the AD30 along with a bit of compression and sustain from the MXR Dyna Comp.
Hi Shnobel. Great presentation. One Q. for you. do you miss the send / return option? Cause I remember once either channel become dirty, reverb can sometimes really go crazy.?
IME the ad30 actually works best with lower gain pre tubes, even down to a 12ay7. If you go the other way with this preamp circuit it just clips too easily and turns into a fizzy mess, especially with any sort of drive pedal
Greenbacks? Must’ve been changed out. How do you like vs your ac30? Buy or borrow? Bear in mind that cab is SUPER directional and the grill cloth eats treble for breakfast. Try running it through alnico blue 212 for best result.
I LOVE the tones that come out of this amp, but it is not friendly to neither reverb/delay pedals on the gain setting. It just spits noise. I am not ready to quit thou, this guy sounds amazing
If you crank the master and keep the gain low it will take reverb and delay well. I believe this is the case with all Orange amps tbh save the Rockerverb
My only complaint with this amp, and it might just be mine, but my ad30 is pretty noisy when I crank the master unless I keep the gain almost all the way down. Did you experience this at all?
I don't. I use the head version with usually gain about 6 on both channels and master about 5-6. I love personally love the distortion/crunch from the amp so don't use the reverb/delay pedals but use modulation to fatten/washout my sound a bit when desired.
