inherent to the nature of a lot of roguelites, but yeah this one is probability manipulation at its most extreme. The player gets plenty of tools though, which is why it’s not *just* rolling dice. I can understand why it’d be hard to get into though

The goal is to gain a gambling addiction and gamble your money away like Tyler does. In all seriousness, Balatro is a weird game. It may seem like you're just playing cards with yourself, there's no "enemy" or "opponent" for you to fight with. But the true enemy here is you. You yourself want to gain that chips quota, you yourself want to crush that goal, and you yourself want to keep playing. It's that desire of seeing a number go bigger, and bigger, and then see the red and blue flames that activates all the neurons in the brain that keeps you going. The game doesn't have many reasons to play, you make that reason yourself. Whether it be watching the numbers go up, or make your build fall into place like puzzle pieces.
