Orange and Lemon cake simple and easy 

I made this cake yesterday. Had my first piece today. It is so delicious. The citrus flavor woke up my palate. I'll be making more of your recipes. Thank you!

Just popping in to say that I used this recipe for an office "competition" (everyone in a department brought a cake each for everyone else in the building to taste). Turned out to be one of the most popular cakes being served.

i couldn't believe how easy this was to make. I had all the ingredients in my cupboard apart from the orange and lemon. so i popped off to the shop and was back baking this delicious cake in no time. Thanks for sharing John.

We prepared this recipe today and it’s so easy to make. The cake was absolutely delicious. A light, moist and fluffy sponge with a zesty orange and lemon tang. Stunningly good. Thoroughly recommended.

WOW! I just had a slice of this and I am calling it the Gumbo of cakes. The cake is like a good Gumbo loaded with a burst of different flavors going off. First there is the Orange-Lemon of the cake, then comes the icing, then a nice rich buttery flavor! The over all flavor is very pronounced, not at all like that tasteless store bought stuff. And on a side note, my ordered items all arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Love the skeleton gloves, worked perfect for removing the cake from a hot oven. My family calls this Quick Bread. My GrannyB use to take the cake/bread out of the oven about 10 minutes early. Polk holes in the cake. Add the juice. And return it to the oven to finish cooking. This allows the cake/bread to get additional flavor and not be soggy.

I should te you that the Lemon drizzle cake recipe of yours turned out absolutely fabulous. All my family members loved it and they told me to make it again and again. Back again making another recipe from our favourite retired cook from the north. My wife decided to go gluten free so to cheer her up I made this cake with gluten free flour. To all of you wondering if it works gluten free? Yes it does. Now I’ll be honest, gluten free doesn’t taste nearly as good as using normal flour but with this recipe especially you saturate your cake in fruit juices and it helps off set it. It went down really well, I even had a slice or two myself.

Hello John discovered this recipe and your Channel, amazing! You have some awesome recipes! I am not a big Baker or Cook for that matter at all, but every now and then bake a cake and being a Citrus fan, could not wait to try this. Yesterday it was pouring with rain and couldn’t be bothered to go out to the shops so decided to bake it with what I had in the cupboard! The only difference in a couple of the ingredients was the sugar and oil! I had coconut oil and olive oil. I thought I had just about enough coconut oil but ran out half way measuring it, so then added the olive oil to make up the quantity required. I only had raw caster sugar, but used it anyway and thought well we will see how it turns out. As I’d used some olive oil I was worried that taste would come through so I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract! Can I say it turned out fab and delicious!! I was sorry I didn’t have the icing sugar to finish it, but after covering it with the lemon and orange juice, I sprinkled it lightly with caster sugar! I cannot wait to try some more of your recipes now, but will make sure I have sunflower oil as a staple for your recipes! Also can I just say your tips are so helpful, even down to the oven temp! Im lucky that I have a meyer lemon tree in back yard that bears fruit all year round. This cake will be a stable along with your banana cake in this household. I might incorporate some pine nuts into this cake.

A comedy of errors! 😅Laugh with me. First, I have never grated the zest of an orange or lemon - quite an experience. Knicked thumb can attest to that. Then, I always reread my recipe to ensure I have included everything. I DIDN'T expect to find I had added the juice to the batter!!!🤣 Surprise - It baked to doneness testing in same time! 🙃 I'm sure it would have been better with the juice poured over the baked cake, but turned out good. Now, I didn't have powdered sugar, but John to the rescue. I didn't have a coffee grinder at hand, so I tried the food processor and just got fluffy sugar. 😆Now, great news. I remembered that I had kept the grinder from my mother's estate, so I dug it out. I made my own powdered sugar!!! Just as you showed! (Grinder now has a new home on my counter.) Hubby loved the cake!😊 Thank you for the ideas, lessons, and the recipe.
