JAMC, Orange Juice, Primal Scream, Alan McGhee, Jesse Garon & The Desperadoes, Wishing Stones, Josef K., Aztec Camera, Shop Assistants, BMX Bandits, Teenage Fanclub, Soup Dragons, Vaselines, Franz Ferdinand, Belle & Sebastian, Associates, Bluebells, Altered Images, Del Amitri, Idlewild and so on. And that's only the Indies... Not to speak of the majors like Wet Wet Wet, Simple Minds, Proclaimers, Deacon Blue, Texas, Amy MacDonald and others.

Saw Edwin live in the early 90s with Paul Cook on drums, really good gig! He hated playing "A girl like you" though, he said how much he hated being so popular!

I think his mind changed on that, after his cerebral haemorrhages. His wife highlights in her book, that the song effectively paid for his rehabilitation. The NHS can’t offer such intensive support- “A Girl Like You” royalties funded it.

I was a 14 year old geek when I first heard this track and I liked it a lot - I’m now 55 years young still a geek (albeit a cool one) and I’m still liking this track so much I’m still rinsing it in 2023 - it sounds just as good to me now as it did back then - well done OJ for this timeless track and also a long overdue well deserved thank you from me !

Seen Orange Juice play at The Royal Court in Liverpool in 1983. Seen Edwyn play a free gig in a pub in Portmahomack around 2014.

Timeless. I agree 👍 💯 with comments below that great new music 🎶 is there to be found. What is just as good is the treasure trove of people digging out these quality recording of original live performances that show the artists 🎨, often dismissed as lightweight 'pop' in my era, who we always knew were a bit special; and went on to do interesting and inspiring things. In adversity, in Edwyn's case. I have some prints of his bird drawings, as well as original vinyl.

I watch the videos of Orange Juice not only because of the good 80ies music but mainly because of this guy Edwyn that looks like my dear friend and one and only love Joe. He looked so much like him and was also almost same old. He lost his life 1984 at only 26 y.o. and I still miss him so hardly...❤😢

I’m really surprised their albums have never been reissued. They’re sort of obscure, but not really. I’ve seen much more obscure bands get reissues. I wish I could own the first two without spending $60 -100. It would be worth it if I could afford it of course, their music was so unique and original even among their post-punk contemporaries.
