I also thought about bringing my significant other here. I went there as a teen in ‘09 with my sister & grandma. This brings back bitter memories because my sister passed away last November so seeing things from the past is painful. But I had a great time here & I still remember it over 15 years later. I’d almost be disappointed to go there & see it renovated but I know it’s for the better. This family has the right idea documenting these moments because you never know how much you’d want to relive them. I miss you Ashley🌹

Nice resort- Book it through expedia. We stayed there a couple times with relatives who had time share. The timeshare deal is AWFUL---- worst purchase ever. They constantly squeeze dates so you have to book a year out, and every time they use it the front desk staff hustle them into the back room for a high pressure pitch to upgrade that already STUPID purchase.

Many many years ago ( like in 1993) , my husband, my children, my parents, an exchange student and I stayed at this resort. It was really nice back then too!!! But I had no idea that it backed up to Animal Kingdom!!! Ha!! We most likely stayed in one of the older units, which was probably new at the time!!! Haven’t been back since but it did seem like a really fun resort to be at!!! Hope you had fun!!! 💕💕💕

Did Gentry notice the young lady checking him out when he started down the slide? Oh yea..she was! LOL. I love Kissimmee! I enjoy just walking around downtown. Such a pretty place with many quaint little shops. Orange Lake is a nice place. As you say, you don't have to go anywhere else unless you want too. Cool that ya'll saw the baby alligator. That's a beautiful place!!! We stayed in a condo once down in Kissimmee (I was probably between 12-14 I'd say) but now when we go to Florida we rent houses just because they are bigger & work for my needs. Same as for Tennessee. I loved this video & especially watching the videos of Gentry growing up & the family picture where Jennifer was pregnant with Henry. I hope you had a great time in Florida 😊

I knew that property was large but I had no idea it was that large! Holy cow! Are you guys members or who do you normally book your unit with?? Do they also run any tranportation to the Disney parks??
We stayed in the same building (unit 4327 or 4328) the first week of June. Using that “back gate” is the real life hack when staying on the North end of the property. Easy access to Publix as well.
Very nice! Everything looks well maintained & of good quality / taste. During my days raising a family, we preferred Marriott properties for reasons mentioned above. Dug the music.. wish Gentry did the ‘cha cha cha’ dance to it in the condo living room.

Hello Steven. There's a free shuttle bus that will take you to the various restaurants on property. However, there are some restaurants close to the property but are technically off site. If you were staying at River Island, they would be walkable, but we would recommend an Uber or a rental car if you're staying in some of the other areas of the property.
We use a head strap for our GoPro. We use it for filming on mountain coasters and since we didn't bring a car mount on this trip, it worked for driving too. It's best to use around a hat, like I did, but you could technically strap it around your head without one too.
The prices vary based on which condo you stay at and the time of the year. We booked early and secured our condo for $179 per night. As an FYI, they try to invite you to a time share meeting when you arrive and we always firmly tell them, no thank you. We booked through the IHG app

Thank you! As of now, we don't have any plans to have any more children. Unfortunately, they do not allow pets at Orange Lake. It would be nice if they eventually allowed pets in some units or offer an onsite kennel.
It is a great resort- and the lazy river has to be one of the best in the country. The rooms are great for extended stay and there's good dining nearby. HOWEVER avoid doing the timeshare path to this property. Relatives have one and it is the WORST decision ever. Like all time shares- you have no exit except to sell this contract to some other sucker who has to then sell it to another sucker- (until you die) they always squeeze you on dates and continue the high pressure upgrades. It is so much easier to just book it when you need it.
Thanks for teaching us these facts. Whenever we stay here, we'll remember every time we pass Lake Kem Way why it's named that now. We had no idea about this history.
