Wow, I did not know until now that the Japanese consoles didn't have a barcode serial number on the bottom! I own a Japanese GC and figured it was just missing the serial number because someone at one point pulled it off.

I remember getting my GameCube at goodwill for $20 and it still works perfectly! I saw them at lots of garage sales for like $10 but never bothered to get another one. Now that they are worth like $60+ now, I wish I would have gotten a couple for backups. I don’t really like playing GameCube games on the Wii though. The GameCube has the ports in the front and is more convenient to play. With the Wii, you have to aim your Wiimote to even start the game. I have a Wii as well, but only play GameCube on GameCube console. Also I don’t like how expensive GameCube games are becoming. I prefer to get games on GameCube vs. PS2, because I like the GameCube better and I don’t really know, just better on GameCube. GameCube games are twice more than the PS2 version on EBay and it is annoying to pay so much more, just because I would rather have it for the GameCube. Great video and very Imformative!

I just bought an orange spice GameCube this week! A few Japanese games are in the mail. I plan on modding it to be region free and am considering sending it to these guys in the UK who do HDMI mods for GameCube.

I JUST bought an Orange Spice GameCube, modded for US games. Hoping to get a decent Digital AV to HDMI converter and mod it soon. And yeah, looking on FB Marketplace and other websites, GameCubes seem to be becoming more popular again, or at least their perceived value is increasing.

I live in Japan and the last time I visited the U.S. I brought back an orange GameCube and was able to trade it for a ton of Sega Genesis and CD games. The trade worked out pretty well for both of us considering they're dirt cheap here.

That free GameCube thing. I'm kinda like that with DSlites. My bro gave me his, cuz he got a vita. My sis aged. A lot. She's 21 now. She gave me hers. Her friend was like, "ur bro likes games, give him this!" Thus, I got another one. And now I have a ton of DSlites. All of which, have broken hinges.

The orange Gamecube is sexy af. Black, or grey consoles bore me out of my mind. The first thing I do when I buy a new console is to order custom skins. My Xbox One looks like an old VCR player with it's wood grain skin. It's amazing.

Yeah the prices for the gamecube hardware has definitely gone up quite a bit. Still cheap just not $5 cheap any longer. More like $30.

Adam, The group at BadAss Consoles have announced plans to release an adapter for the GameCube called the CGVideo Plug N Play. It basically goes into the Digital AV port (and I assume the Analog AV port) and allows you connect either a HDMI or the much more affordable Wii component cables into the device and allow you to output through those. It's essentially a cheaper alternative to official GameCube cables. What are your thoughts on that?

Do you have enough generic Gamecubes (meaning not the Panasonic one) to equate the current value of the component cables? I'd like to see that comparison side by side. Just a big fucking stack of those things next to a small cable. Since you mentioned modding, have you heard of the GCVideo project?

Could you do one about the GameBoy Advance SP Blue Edition?

I was originally going to buy this with the game boy player, but fortunately I bought the Tales of Symphonia mint green GameCube with the game boy player instead. and for a good price :)

i picked up an orange gamecube plus matching gameboy player with disk in akihabara for about $30

I just scored a free gamecube a month or so ago that was in terrible shape. The console was super dirty , couldn't read discs, and the buttons were all sticking, disc tray wouldn't even close. I fixed most of it by giving it a good clean but I had to increase laser power and re-cap the board for it to read discs but I picoboot mooded it and planned on using an SD card loader via. SP2 anyways. The buttons are in rough hsape and look like an animal gnawed on them. possibility since the console was in someones attic for about 10 years. I thought about reshelling it at somepoint. Kinda stinks the aftermarket consoles don't have some of the special colors like the tales of symphonia teal I'd totally go with a replica shell of that color but I like the orange spice too.

Like the dreamcast is your favorite , the GameCube is mine. I'm trying to get into my dreamcast more and understand it more though

weirdest thing about the GameCube has to be the handle. I mean how often do you carry a console? surely not often enough to warrant a bolted on carrying implement? mad. love it tho.

Nintendo were going to be releasing the orange version in Europe and America, But the orange one was released nearer the end of the consoles life, Up near where Sales werent so good. I believe the orange one really didnt sell very well, hence its rarity.. So they didnt bother releasing it in other regions, simply due to their sales at the end of the consoles life.. Thats is why the controller is available, but not the console..

Another interesting variant of the GameCube is the first few batches that were made in Japan. Only the first few batches were made in Japan, I think in early 2002 production was moved to China.

On the dichotomy you presented, I think you're right, but there are always exceptions to that sort of rule. I, for one, think it looks cool, or at least quite interesting, but it's not really a color I'd choose over black, silver, or even indipurplego. That being said, while the color is a little gaudy for me to wanna look at regularly, it wouldn't annoy me like that, "Sega Sports" logo on the black Dreamcast does. I fucking hate that logo! Like... black version: Awesome! I'll get that o- ... WHY?! Why did you ruin it, Sega?!

Off Topic: For a long long time I thought Adam use to say "I'll figure it out!" but only recently I actually payed attention and realised it was "figure it out!". Having that context is makes things so much clearer, I was always like wth why does he say that? xD

I still have my old white GameCube, it came bundled with Mario Smash Football, which is an amazing game btw. Didn't know it was kind of rare. I absolutely love the GameCube, it's my favorite console of all time, but unfortunately my Wii completely replaced it. The Wii has affordable component so there's really no competition for me. Not only that, I live it Europe so I can't even use component even if I had the money for it.

I got the black GameCube for Christmas 2001 along with Luigi's Mansion. But in 2004 my fucking little brother pulled on the controller and caused it to fall to the floor which somehow fucked up the systems disc reader. Thankfully my older cousin had a silver one that he just gave to me cause he didn't really play it. Still have it today and it still works.

I think this is the first video when you suggested another RU-vidr I already know XD LukeMorse1 is a great channel. I really like the Orange GC, I always found most of the other colors kind of dull, I love how much it stands out. That said, im still praying for the day I come across a Gundam GC for a decent price.

If i can secure replacement parts inexpensively enough (mainly screws and a couple buttons, then I would want to get one of these orange ones to match my flat orange controller, but I would need to get that controller fixed first. Btw, if anyone knows where I can order m5x1cm triwing™ screws in quantities of about 20 or so, please let me know. Smallest quantity I've found are 200, which is 10x more than I need to fix all my Nintendo items.

Yes i already have a Gamecube compatible Wii. But im still so tempted to go buy a Gamecube. Originally I had the silver Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness special edition Gamecube. But then my sister took it when she moved out. So i bought a Wii at the time to keep playing my Gamecube collection.

This was the colour I wanted back in the day. I got tired of waiting for an announcement, so I went for the silver one, bundled with Wind Waker and Ocarina. My console has the digital port but eh, it's a PAL model so I suppose it doesn't really make a difference. I've never seen the white one here. Some of the "limited edition" models were just the game logo on top of the system instead of the regular one. Not terribly exciting.

There was a Resident Evil 4 version of the GameCube in Europe. Nothing too special, just a silver system with the GameCube logo replaced with a Resident Evil 4 one on the lid and the controller. I don't know if it came with the game or not.

I personally love the indigo one because it makes me think most of the correlation between GBA and GC. The original GBA model was crystal and purple. I also got this amazing GC controller that is purple on the front and crystal on the back. BEST IDEA EVER. I didn't know that gamecubes ever became THAT cheap... That makes me sad. Seriously.

If you import a Gamecube from Japan - the easiest thing to do is to swap out guts with a US version and be done, then you get perfectly compatible hardware. There is about 20 screws total. I am pretty sure the internal design is the same as US one.

I also had a Panasonic cube that played DVDs and GameCube games. That's the one I want the most to get again. In my city GameCubes go for twenty dollars at the pawn shops.

I imported my purple gamecube when it launched in japan like, immediately. I have since also acquired a pal launch one in black that has the digital av out, and a later silver pal model without it. I was aware of the orange one as the guy who imported mine and I got my games from had them when they came out there and it did look cool. Also got a japanese only spice orange GBA from him.

Did the US get the Resident Evil Version? I have the UK pal version and has the digital av port, on the box it says limited edition but they seem to be fairly common here in the UK.

In your latest playload you asked about Australian only games. Not that this is a game, but Australia is the only non-Japan country to get the purple Game Boy Player.

I love my price orange gamecube. Don't like how it lacks the digital port but then again I dont use it at all. Svideo out to a projector looks pretty damn crystal clear. More so than component to a tv.

I got my hands on a few of the NR reader gamecubes a few months back. Stripped the innards out of one of them and replaced them with standard gamecube guts just because I think the green of the NR readers is sweet.

2:01 funny story, so i bought a gamecube that ended up costing me $82.01 (system, cables, controller, memory card (64 MB), and game). It was a silver gamecube and i was lucky enough to get the early version with the digital AV out and the expansion port. So i feel lucky for getting that version
