The super crush is so goddamn good for the money. It's so meaty sounding and doesn't get lost in the room like some solid states can. Absolutely killer piece of kit.
Something about Mastodon guitar riffs hook you like no other. I also found the guitarist carved himself a nice spot with his solos. Theyve almost got a classic rock feel to 'em
Finally a demo of this amp. Was getting tired of all the "infomercials" by paid YTers. Glenn Fricker dumped his load in his pants and started screaming and hollering. Super Cringe. Nice to see an Adult like LambChopper do a demo of the amp.
I've never gotten along very well with my super crush for high gain stuff... I hate the restrictive tone I get out of it. Although it does sound pretty sick with an EQ in the fx loop and boost out front. Look forward to your next video of this 🤟
I'm glad someone finally said it I have the supercrush combo and I feel the same way man I hope I can make a good pedal platform out of it if not I wasted 700 bucks on it
@@chrisnichols9187the combo is not great man. I’ve had the combo and immediately returned it for the head version to play through a Marshall 4x12 . The combo is unbelievably constricted and boxy sounding in comparison. The head sounds more like my 800 than it does an orange, but it cuts through a band mix beautifully and sits with loud drums very well. This is opposite of my experience with the old crush pro 120 which was too fuzzy and muddy sounding, and got buried so fast in a band by any Marshall type amp. it doesn’t have the best bass response, but every time I play live i can’t hear the bass in the amp over the bass player anyway..
That is one Rocking Amp and Parrott, he 's just setting there listening to his dad rock out, i swear i ven saw his feet move to your Awesome riffs, great video and playing, i ordered this amp, should be here by tomorrow, watching your video makes me more excited to start jamming in it..awesome brother
First of all, love your videos. I just recently bought this amp. I’d love to see a video with you making use of the fx loop and dialing in the best possible metal tone out of this awesome amp. Take care!
I just grabbed one as Im a dad on a budget lol. Sounds killer for the price. I play BlackThrash so it’s gonna be interesting seeing what tones I can dial in. I grabbed a Friedman OD Deluxe and a Boss 7 band EQ as well
It’s great for metal. The basic tone of the amp is simple and you hit a sweet spot. It’s not super versatile but has loads of headroom for boosting the front end in different ways and the fx loop is nice and clean for taking EQ’s and effects. I did a few other videos on this one and I still enjoy playing through it.
I've just taken delivery of my Orange Crush 20RT - and I love it! I can see a Crush 60 in my future.... maybe.... but that'll be a while off! In the meantime - the 20RT scratches that itch I've had since 1978, in Liverpool! Only variance I have is using a momentary footswitch off my keyboard for channel switching; as a rhythm player I don't need to latch into the dirty channel for more than a few bars at a time!
That Mastodon tone and riffs were bloody solid, i loved every second of that vid. I wonder if it can take a metalzone to the loop. I'm planning to get rid of my tube amp, but I still have some of the pedals. Not sure how well the 100 takes them.
@@clementnunes5070 It sounds great in loop, just like with a tube amps. :) Couldn't resist the urge, so I'm another owner of that amp. Wish there was a resonance knob, but an EQ pedal will get it done just fine.
I came here to hear the amp, but ended up being more interested in your classic skate deck collection. I see a Rob Roskopp, Jeff Kendall, Frankie Hill, Vallely. Nice!
Love the Orange ampsim (Tanger) boosted (or preEQed) in the Two Notes Genome plugin. Some Orange profiles (loaded in Codex) are killer too, especially the rockerverb ones (hello Slipknot Jim Root tone).
Cool demo. However, if you're moving into the amp test realm, please do yourself a favour and try the Headfirst Alta! By far the best sounding amp I've tried in a long while - built by the coolest bloke you'll ever meet.
Had one of these right when it came out. Ended up returning it. It’s just far too dark sounding. Couldn’t get the amount of treble/presence I like without having to use a BBE in the loop. Too much mids also. I much preferred the TH30.
Was really close to buying a solid state Orange amp before settling on a Katana. They have a sag to the signal that emulates their tube amps. It's something that feels different when your playing. Almost like a bogging carburetor before the secondaries open. That hesitation that fattens the tone in a weird way. Not for me.
I really love this amp though oddly enough it's not my favorite to play by itself. With my band though it sounds amazing and that's where it counts for me
Curious if you have an opinion on this vs the katana 100 head. I've had the Katana 100 head before and it was decent. Right now I'm mainly in the market for a poweramp for other things and was debating getting a katana 100 again because of the power amp in input in the back, the adjustable 100 watt class AB power amp and price are all fitting the bill for my needs. If the super crush is miles better as an actual guitar amp tho I'd consider it instead. I plan to get the new boss me-90 when they are in stock and also have a line 6 pod go which were the original plans as where to get my tone and use the poweramp of the katana to drive my speaker cabs.
Not my types of Metal tones, but it does a few good ones. It sounds more like a Stoned Metal/Hard Rock amp while I'm heavily into Marshall's mids or the overpriced ENGL or Friedman. If you can borrow an ENGL Fireball 100W from a shop in your neighborhood, I'd like some Death Metal goodness... :D
I found the open hammer on sweep riff pretty tough to get clean. I’ve loved Mastodon albums since first hearing Leviathon but for some reason I never learned any riffs. The Czar is a standout favorite that I had to have a go at.
@@LambChopper678 I thought so too! When I asked Orange a few years ago (when I had a super crush) they told me not to do it... 🤷 Cheers for the excellent tones
There’s not a lot to tell mate, I love skating bowls and doing the longest smith grinds I can manage. It’s more about the exercise these days but my trucks still wear down to axles after a few months. In the last few years I’ve really started digging slappys and mixing it up from the ramps. I’ve never been any good at technical tricks
