What have any other cultural group in SA achieved without taking from somebody else. Orania is not an example of people building a community from the bare necessities. It requires people with money to invest large amounts of money to live there . So one needs to be relatively successful before going there. Meaning its useless to poor people trying to create a successful community. Afrikaaners are Indigenous Africans. They have every right to be in South Africa, especially in the Cape Province, Orange Free State and the Transvaal. By second war of independence, I can presume you mean the 2nd Anglo Boer War. I read in a book that there were soldiers, of various nationalities, who fought with the Boers then. There were for instance Americans, French, Germans, and Dutch. And, that the largest number were Russians.
It is correct. I used to visit the monument to the Irish that fought on the Boers side in the Anglo Boer war. It was located in Johannesburg (near the SABC tower). It was removed by a cultural organization because it was being vandalised on a regular basis. It was relocated to a memorial park in Orania where it was renovated and is proudly (and safely) exhibited.

It looks/sounds marvellous! Just a few questions: Is there a bank in the town? Post Office/PostNet? Police station/military? What % is Orania reliant on ESKOM for electricity? Hospital/clinic? Any factories? Is the NG Kerk the only Christian Church? Does the school have a hostel?
Well, there is this guy from Sub-Saharan Africa telling they haven't mane anything of note. There are much more than 1000 black people living in suburbs. They have made even less of note then. This community is able to get recognition and preserve their culture, create a cosy settlement with all the facilities they need virtually from ruins. I do not think this is any worse that producing a TV show or creating a sports team as you've mentioned.

Great place to live. Nevertheless, Zimbabwe and its strong influence on the South African government is just across the border. When the evicted white farmers provided legal documents to prove that they were the rightful owners of their land, they were ignored by the courts because it was a "political" issue.
