Seems a worthwhile upgrade, I have ordered an orbiter 2 and will give this a go. Still on original Bowden setup. Been happy with X carriage so far so a worthy upgrade.

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade, recommend switching to direct drive from Bowden if you already have the mega x

Sorry if I am late to the Party, but you dont have to change the controllboard for klipper. I installed Klipper on my i3 Mega using the original controllboard and a raspberry pi zero 2W. And it runs perfect.

Thanks for this information! You've given me another reason why I should switch 👍

 @ThisDesignedThat Hello, I already installed klipper and I have it working perfectly, thank you very much for your videos and I am waiting for that update of the anicubic i3 mega s without changing the serial board since I am following your videos, I encourage you to continue forward, I encourage you to put the screen touch and speeds of 120 I have the touch screen with klipper screen and another touch screen with mainsail and a wireless klipper screen but I would like to see the fast hotend thanks again

On a side note, you mentioned easy to unlevel the bed early in the video. Upgrade to silicone mounts and this problem will pretty much be gone.

This is something I've been meaning to install for a few months now. I will purchase some soon. Thanks for reminding me

Any chance you have added the filament sensor? Trying to find a way to wire it on my Mega S.

my printer is almost identical. i use a garolite bed . since i added the Sherpa style extruder the only thing i have a issue with is my z seam.
@ThisDesignedThat
@ThisDesignedThat 10 месяцев назад
Z seam seems to be an issue across most printers so I wouldn't worry about it too much

How about filament sensor? Can I use a sensor that is already in the printer and not change its position?
@ThisDesignedThat
@ThisDesignedThat 4 месяца назад
Yes you could do, it will detect whether filament is there or not, doesn't really matter what position it is in

to switch to klipper there is no need to change the board. you already are using a raspberry to control your i3 mega. so its only changing the software on the raspberry and klippy to the board. but i have no experience in using a display with klipper. klippy on that atmega board even sets the current display useless ;-)

Thanks for the info I'll take a look at that

@@ThisDesignedThat installing klipper ist actually the easy part. get a ready to use image for your pi. there are tools on that for compiling the klippy firmware for the baord, by entering an easy command and hit 3 buttons on a UI. it can flash the board in that process. you will get nearly ready to use klipper installation to use from the browser or/and phone. only some configuration files and marcros will be needed to copy into and adapted to your preference. the official config for i3 mega works and is correct, other than some of them i found in the web printer bubble. i would say for an rasperry used user a cuple of hours. there are also ways to run it all in a cuple of docker containers, but not official and not recommended way becaus of the update process. the hard part is to calibrate klipper with no accelerometer and will take some amount of printing parts for resonance and pressure advance. the official docs are written with love and are insane good - i did not expect that.

So you removed the glass for a magnetic pad? Or went over the glass

Hello, can you do a tutorial on how to configure klipper on the anicubic i3 mega s since I installed Klipper but it doesn't work for me?

What adjustments do you have to make when adding a magnetic PEI so the nozzle doesn't crash into the bed?
@ThisDesignedThat

I just moved the bed down using the adjustment knobs
