oh my goodness I want one of those so bad! As a totally blind person this would really really be beneficial. Like when the kids bring home all of those papers from school that we have to sign LOL. Or with Mail. Wow. Thanks for the review.
I recently did a demonstration for one of my consumers who is very low vision and has some cognitive issues as well. She's super sweet young college girl and she was just blown away by the device! She started crying and hugging her boyfriend, it was an incredible moment! She just sent me an email today letting me know she's getting one and I'm very excited for her.
GREAT REVIEW SAM!! The 1st one that I find actually SHOWING OrCam glasses IN ACTION! - I HOPE OrCam adds more features like: - More LANGUAGES supported (this is ESSENTIAL) - Colors recognition - Bluetooth connectivity to speak through Bluetooth headsets/earphones - Longer battery runtime and many more ;) ** PLEASE KEEP US UP TO DATE WITH THESE GLASSES!!! LOT of people live outside USA (me included) so we cannot test them by ourselves!! THANK YOU SO MUCH ONCE AGAIN! :)
hey Sam oh okay cool just done a search on this product and found your video. thanks glad I found it. and I enjoy the reviews that you do on many products. its sure vary helpful!!
Oh my goodness I just got one thanks to a surprise from my family and I LOVE IT! I still wish the price was more affordable, but it is worth the money. I can't wait to see what the company has coming in the near future.
I've been told im getting one from. family if I wanton I've ry it in Newport. Wales found it can help but the price. again stuck out may I ask. what. type of. arm glasses you use
I've been watching this product for a while. Did you get a chance to try it in sunlight and low light situations? Street signs, traffic signals etc...?
Yes, we have one where I work so I've used it several times now. It's always preformed a very well. It uses a camera so of course it performs better with good light and starts to give you issues as the light lowers. It reads any kind of sign you point it at but doesn't recognize streetlights. It only reads text. Something else you have to be aware of is that it reads all the text within its field of view. So if you pointed at the front of a grocery store, it's going to read the name of the grocery store as well as try to read all the signs in the windows. It can get confusing in certain situations like that. All in all though I'm still really impressed with it
Hi Sam, thank you for the info. I was wondering if one can wear sungasses with the OrCam or not...my mother is 90 and she would be so relieved to have one of these. Also if you are in a room, does it recognize what is there, such as a table, chair, etc.? Thanks again.
The ore cam comes with several of the brackets that attach it to glasses. So in theory, you could have brackets on several different glasses and just pop the device on whichever one you're wearing at the time. Unfortunately it can't detect objects in a room. It can only read text and detect people's faces or products that have been programmed into it. I'm not sure if you could program it to recognize a couch or TV. I don't think that would work very well though.
I walk around supersavers on my demo had no sight and it was reading things out on wall and said counter to. left. lady standing to your leg and said some colours harder in busy shop like supersavers but yes
Yes, it would work pretty well. In fact it’s actually preferred for individuals who are totally blind because it doesn’t use any magnification. Some aspects would be difficult though. You would find it difficult to point out a sign and have the device read it for you since you would not know where the sign was. However, reading documents in your hand like your mail or menus would be no problem.
This product intrigues me, but I can't entertain the pricetag, because my IPhone can do almost everything that this stand alone device can do, and for far less. If only there was a device that plugs into your IPhone that would do the same thing--connect to your glasses to allow you to use your camera as you once used your eyes by turning your head to face the book in your hand or the document or the can or bottle with the bar code. Otherwise, I love the fact that these things exist.
Hey Sam I just watched this and I'm amazed and near tears. My son whos 35 is deaf and loosing his sight very quickly. This is do to Ushers syndrome. Anyway my question is hes on disability, would there be any discounts or not sure if ins could cover some of that? Thanks for any info Sam.
Yes, I have a video specifically on that topic. I talk about why these items are so expensive and gives several options for purchasing them. I believe it’s called why is assistive technology so expensive?
I mentioned in the video how much the product costs and if there is text in the picture it will read that or if the picture is of a person whose face has been programmed into its memory, it will recognize the person.
There's lots of new devices coming out all the time. I even just spoke with a company today that's made a device just like that. I'm going to try and get a demo, stay tuned!
good. description. I m not able see what your doing at all. tech for. visually or sensory impaired. persons are always. dear what type of glasses arms can go with. that
Does the camera only fit on the right side? My mother hears better out of her left ear, even with expensive hearing aids. Can it be mounted on the left side of one's glasses?
