I totally agree! There actually needs to be a radio station dedicated to playing the new songs of established artists (say at least 15-20yrs in the business). Artists like OMD, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Alison Moyet have put some cracking music out recently but it’s rarely heard by the masses, instead of the same old limited range of songs churned out by the likes of Absolute 80’s etc
Still perform amazingly…saw them a few years ago and the gents were on top form…Andy’s vocals are still as strong as they ever were, was a truly excellent night..tickets purchased for the new album tour…I’ll never pass up the chance to see them live!
We went to see them again @ Liverpool arena 3 weeks ago; Still as good as ever, fantastic when live and sound/vision when they were playing was excellent ! They have maintained and perfected their playlist and everything went silky smooth with their show. Only criticism is it was freezing in there , which the venue agreed and Liverpool Arena paid a monetary compensation amount into the liverpool/Wirral homeless society as the band would not accept the money ! As soon as they announce any shows I will be diving in for tickets again regardless of price, 40+ years and still amazing in concert...Thank you..
If you make an ensemble of "If you leave... " And "Don't Go" I consider it will be a considerably masterpiece and a tribute to those years of 'Pretty in Pink' following you, since then, and let me tell you, you are as great as then, maybe even more! Regards, blessings and thank you for the music.
I was watching the video of the band's performance at Drury Lane in 1981 and McCluskey's voice is wayward: his pitching is all over the place. In 2023 it is much more solid. Perhaps experience or some necessary vocal lessons have sharpened his vocal skills, but whatever the reason, Mr McM is singing far more confidently today than ever. I can't say the same for his bass playing, however, which seems just as simple as back then. He's no John Taylor!
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx OMD fans seem unable to cope with any constructive criticism of their music. I am surprised but pleased that there has not been an abreaction to the perfectly reasonable point you make. The over the top comments about them by many in Pretending To See The Future are cringeworthy.
Went to the Portsmouth gig on the Bauhaus Staircase Tour and they played this (it wasn't played in Bournemouth on their 2021 Tour), and I really enjoyed hearing this song live, hope it remains a staple in their future tours!
listened to this not really familiar with the band and assumed this was a greatest hits song. and it's from this year!!! will be diving into the group now
This is not one of my favourite songs from the new album but I must admit it was beautifully delivered! ….. wish they had played Anthropocene or Kleptocracy instead!
@@dominicaaaaa5547 - it was definitely lacking bass and the same punch as the Virgin rooftop performance; I suspect that in terms of the studio set up and production of the show overall the sound/mix was more dialled down, just my thoughts.
The song "Bauhaus Staircase" fits the album well, but it really shouldn't be a single in my opinion. It doesn't have enough synth hooks to compensate for the lack of a chorus (way too many verses) to allow it to be a catchy single. "Don't Go" has a very catchy melody in the chorus and the synth melody hook is very solid. I think the songs on the new album that could be good singles are: "Aphrodite's Favorite Child", "Look at You Now", "Kleptocracy" and possibly "Evolution of Species" (but more as an alternative type of single). "Veruschka" is one of my favorites from the album, but even it might be a little too slow tempo to be a single.
@@SJ-tk4rijust had a listen to this one you're right the sound was definitely better would have thought for jools holland though the sound should be A+ really
