In this video, I demonstrate strategies for creating orchestral textures when starting with just a melody and chords. Thank you, Michael L. for sending me this melody!

Nice job with my short piece, Alex. Some very interesting orchestration choices. I'll pull it into Cubase where I can study it and break it down. My original orchestration was much simpler, and I wanted to see how someone more knowledgeable than me might approach this. Hopefully more patrons will send you melodies to work with.

These "Orchestrating a Melody" videos are incredibly helpful to novice orchestrators. On other channels, I rarely see such a detailed description of how & why orchestration decisions are made. I hope the "Orchestrating a Melody" series becomes a regular part of your superb channel.

I'm still having difficulties orchestrating a 32 bar composition - if you're up for it, I can send the music for you to take a look. Curious how you'd approach it. Simple great melody. Video game town theme-esque!
