Roxy is so lovable... you can tell the way she talks that she is such a gentle soul... I just felt that flush of joy when she said that she grows seedlings from flasks. Deflasking orchid seedlings and growing them into mature size is such a fulfillment. It's like you're giving birth and taking care of the babies day by day till they grow up. I have grown some Vanda Sanderiana which I deflasked myself( 54 of them but now there are only 36 left. Sadly, the really tiny ones didn't make it)... but the ones left have grown so well and it's like an anchievement for me.

Nel, you got RU-vid figured out. For us orchid lovers you show us the nurseries and homes of Orchid lovers. One comment. Can you film the structure used to keep the orchids. Find out what % shade cloth, watering system, etc. I love to find out what others growers are doing. Keep the videos coming.

Hello Nelson, everything you do is very valuable, I wish I could share with you a short video of my spoiled ones 🤩, waiting for your advice 🤗and your criteria based on all your experience
Very beautiful. Such a delightful place. It’s like her secret garden . Love the idea of her deflasking her orchids, must have to have a lot of patience to accomplish that task. Thank you for sharing.
@@naturenel Yes Nelson you should. I get the impression that you’re very detailed and exact in your work. I think you would succeed. You and Josh could team up and keep us updated.
Yay, Finally the long awaited video. Love it. I was so excited when you said you were going to do a home visit with Roxy... Love the collection and the setting. As always gave me some ideas I may use. LOL Roxy you are very brave, no flashes for me, no way... LOL. I will buy them already bigger.. Hahaha.....
Deflasking should not scare you. I find it best to plant them in a compot in a six inch plastic pot. I use a 1 gallon ziplock plastic bag to build a little bubble (greenhouse). I cut the bottom (ziplock part) and a couple vents in the corners. It works well.
That plant on which the blue beetle is feeding is said to be a herb good for kidney stones. The leaves eaten as a curry dissolves the stones according to indigenous medicine. It grows like a weed here in Sri Lanka.
Thank you for that information. Very good to know. I heard beer is also good for kidney stones. Or is that a Cuban legend just to justify beer drinking? Lol!
Hi! So far, I’ve had my pots/mounts all outdoors and they have maintained their pigmentation. It could have to do with them being exposed to mostly morning and filtered light. We also print them using a thicker than usual layer for durability in an effort to make them longer lasting.
