Last Autumn a dear friend called to say she'd bought an ENORMOUS pot of what most likely was a Dendrobium kingianum type...and what should she do with it!!?? So I made this video over the last year following the plants journey from first being bought home, to temporarily housed in...nothing! And then finally re-potted and in glorious bloom!
You can find my Australian Dendrobium playlist with care videos for all the types of Dendrobium mentioned here: • AUSTRALIAN DENDROBIUMS

Hi Mathew😌🙌💖I enjoyed that🥰👏The kingianum is a beautiful big orchid with beautiful pink and dyed petals with a hint of yellow💖I have a kingianum that overwintered outdoors down to -8℃ believe it or not, however this is in Japan. The Winters have Sunshine everyday and it's dry. I just purchased another one with interesting white with blue flowers.

I love kingianum,, struggled and unfortunately lost my first 2. I have a keiki that I bought recently, so your information has truly come in handy. I am in the states so they aren’t too easy to come by. Fingers crossed this one lasts. Take care

Thank you, always love your videos. Apparently a high nitrogen fertilizer can add to the problem of unwanted keikis.I just stumble my way as a new orchid grower myself.Look forward to next weeks video.

Thoroughly enjoyed the informative video. I have several Australian dens. & have just bought a red kingianum on line. I’m excitedly waiting for it to arrive & then see its first bloom! My Den. superbiens & hard cane hybrids tend to grow keikis on top of the canes as well. I thought it was problems with my care!

Me too....apparently it can depend on the clone you have as to how much of Keiki producer it will be.

Hi Matthew. Carol from Claytton, again. I have a similar situation with my native dendrobium. I've been wondering how to thin it. Love your video. Thanks.

Hello Mathew(sp), I am green with envy with your Australian orchids. What a lovely blooms. Thanks for the information on how to grow these types of orchids. I have two Dendrobium speciosum seedlings as blooming size are not easily found and if available are very expensive.

Mature Speciosums are expensive as they take such a long time to mature. Unfortunately seedlings can take at least ten years to get to blooming size so you have to weigh up your patience V your own mortality V the cost of a flowering one! I have found MUCH cheaper flowering sized plants on Facebook Marketplace and in a nursery when the flowers had all died and the plant was heavily reduced. Depends where you are in the world but there can be options.

sorry but a long long video with a lot of talking and only a few useful information. It could have been 3 minutes long.
