Nick, enjoy your videos and the lures that I have ordered from you. Hope to see you some time on the river so I can learn more from you in person, including some patience....LOL...Thanks!
Thank you for picking up some spinners. It gets busy this time of the season. I hope to hear they bring you some luck! Haha I’m still working on my patience, as soon as I think it’s under control, something happens to test it again ;)
Joseph Swann Thank You! I appreciate the support and always love hearing that my videos have helped others out. Makes what I do that much more enjoyable.. good luck out there
QUESTION: Where can I go to get into some hot salmon fishing??? It is the last week in September; although I have seen alot of Salmon jumping on the Clackamas & Sandy Rivers, I can't get one to bite... I am really beginning to get burnt-out casting for 4 to 8 hours a day, and not hooking-up. I have fished the mouth of the Clackamas with 5/8 and 7/8 ounce Flying Js & #4, #5, and #6 Blue Foxes. I have not drift fished beads; in hopes that I could experiment with spinner fishing. Please, please reply or message me a few spots within maybe 30-50 minutes of Beaverton, OR. Nick... Your catches are very inspiring. Maybe I'll see you on the bank sometime.
Michael Coleman - Thank You! Ya they are the only rods in my collection that I have issues with.. usually broken/missing eyelet inserts. I’ve never broke one before now. It was still exciting and luckily I have more than one rod. It’s ALWAYS fun filming these adventures and I absolutely love knowing you guys enjoy watching them
@@AnglingAddictsPNW i have 1 x11 and ive had it for over a year so i think i got the good one out of the bunch😂 yah these are very fun to watch so keep up the good work
Thank You Nick, this was a ton of fun. And just goes to show that taking the time to explore new fishing spots has it's perks. I had never fished this river before these last two videos.
Joe Turner - Thanks Joe, it’s been fun exploring and fishing new rivers.. the more opportunities the better :) Thanks for watching. Good luck out there. 🎣
As a NY fisherman I never get to go for chum and it’s a species I really want to target. They seem really aggressive, scrappy and I think they’re incredibly beautiful.
Got a chance to hook into some chrome chum fresh from the ocean on one of my recent trips. You could just barely make out their tiger strips. I thought my first one was a coho until i got it up closer. Definitely a beautiful fish, they are very aggressive and scrappy. I had one brake a rod in half a couple years ago. There aren't many tributaries here in Oregon or Washington that have them but i'm glad there is at least a chance if you know where to go.
michael kline - that’s because I get out there and explore.. I have plenty of fishless days, then I stumble across gems like these... adding to my list of places to fish at specific times 🎣
It's not ALWAYS like this but we do have some pretty good runs and numerous rivers, so there is still a chance of finding a piece of river to yourself. This spot was definitely being at the right place at the right time of the run. i wish it wasn't such a long drive or i would have fished it a lot more this season.... but there is always next season
David M - thanks David, that’s the result of getting out and exploring new waters and really having to test my skills in finding fish. I’m happy to have found an area like this and been there at the right time, made for an exciting trip
Awesome dude. I know the big fish get the clicks, but I have such a crush on those Sea Run Cutthroats. They're amazing. Great video, I know you put in some WORK!!!
Thank you! This was a ton of fun. It was a nice payoff for getting out and exploring new waters to fish. And I totally agree! Those cutties are a lot of fun to catch and a beautiful fish. I was happy to come across a couple
Sean Humphreys - Thank You Sean, I love that you guys watch the channel! Lol I will still put out some content but this was the last for salmon fishing. Hopefully the luck continues when winter steelhead show up.. thanks for the support!
Never had a fishing video make me so jealous! Those eggs! That spot! We have lake Michigan steelhead and salmon here but very crowded during the runs and just not that easy to find/catch. Great job!
After seeing what some of the salmon and steelhead fishing looks like in other areas, i definitely feel a bit spoiled here in the Pacific Northwest. Of course some of our waterbodies get pretty crowded but not much of that shoulder to shoulder fishing that i see elsewhere. I have those eggs all cured up for winter steelhead fishing, i can't wait to use them. they turned out great
Rocky does it all - Right!! Those thing were crazy big!! I have them all cured up ready for some winter steelhead.... and probably enough for spring chinook lol
Fish and Forage - Thanks bro, those cuties are always a nice surprise.. crazy to think how many fish are in that small river at the same time.. thanks for watching!
Frederick Neal - Thank you! Trips like these make up for the no fish days. The time and effort spent exploring new rivers paid off this time around. I’m hoping I can extend my fishing grounds for steelhead next. Thanks for watching
I couldn’t really put a number on casts between switching lures, but I’d say after I’ve covered a section with one color and no results, then I switch colors. If I’m fishing a “hole” where I know there are fish, I will switch up pretty quick. I want to know if they are biting on that given day
Carter Gibb - They aren’t always good days but sometimes you find yourself in the right spot at the right time. Thanks for watching! Good luck out there 🎣
Paul Schmidt - Thank You! This was actually two different days combined but I can’t complain! That was pretty amazing for being a newer river to me. Thanks for watching
Sweet buddy 1st cast on seek and destroy site fishing not much cooler than that 😎 keep the videos coming always enjoy em thanks for sharing all your hard work tight lines
Jacob Chilson - I had been scoping out that channel every time I’d go by. It was nice to see it filled with fish.. that one hookup ruined the bite but I was pretty stoked to hit that fish 1st cast and surprised it stayed on considering how far upriver I threw it. Awesome adventure as always, catching fish is a nice perk :) just saw your message about December fishing.. I will get back to you soon on that, sounds fun
Awesome vids! Keep up the great work! I agree that Shimano makes some of the best reels on the market! Even their mid-level stuff is pretty solid!....👍
glynn nelson - Thank You Glynn! This was a ton of fun! I’m glad I decided to start exploring some new waters to fish. The Shimano is REALLY smooth! I could only imagine the quality of their higher end reels.
Bobby Benfield - thanks man! It has been fun exploring new waters. I came up empty handed plenty of times but it was nice to find myself on the right section of river at the right time. I’m pretty stoked on the amount of eggs that chinook out out.
Nice, Nick! Great video! I read online the other day that those Lamiglass X-11 rods break really easy. Did Lamiglass replace it? Were you fishing above or below the hatchery?
bill nurse - it was a great trip! Worth the rod lol. I will have to try a different rod. The lamiglas rods can’t handle my abuse like my other brands. Good luck out there! 🎣
Adventuring the PNW - thank you, this whole trip was pretty amazing. I couldn’t believe how full of eggs that one was. They’re all cured up now and ready for winter steelhead season :)
Mr Vaj - I have a variety of rods but the lamiglas rods are usually the first to have a problem.. I’ve never broke one on a fish until now. Usually my big issue is how easily the eyelet inserts will break. I’m definitely done with those rods. They don’t make them like they used to
Great video nick!! Nice to see you finding success this fall, hopefully this winter steelhead season we can do a meet up or something, thanks for the vid good luck out there 👊😀
Michael Elkins - Thanks bro! I didn’t get out as much as usual but I’m feeling pretty lucky with what I was able to get on the end of the line. Would love to do a meetup! Hoping for a good winter steelhead return!
@@AnglingAddictsPNW yes indeed you found some solid success!! Last season i did find a few more remote stretches of steelhead water that dont get the crowd's as a weekend fisherman i made it a priority lol hopefully this season will be productive as well keep the vids flowin bud i do enjoy seein the taxtics you use to catch fish 👊😀
Rosalio Davila - Thank You, I love the successful trips like these. Makes up for the days where I’m just throwing gear in the water all day long. Good luck out there 🎣
Jackson McCormick - they are definitely a hard fighting fish! Luckily my first one was on that ugly stik which can handle the abuse. That lamiglas didn’t stand a chance :/
Dimka White - it is for most of our rivers. This is a coastal tributary that allows harvesting wild fish during the fall. Still have to keep an eye on ever-changing regs though. This is the first year that I actually kept a couple fish... and to be honest, it felt weird/wrong to keep a fish that is actually wild
Thanks for the quick reply. I agree, wild salmon should be released, especially Chinook since they are predicting they will be extinct. Humans over fish/hunt everything. I get it if you need to feed your family but fishing for sport and keeping it is just wrong. Hatchery fish is the way to go 👍🏽
@@AnglingAddictsPNW not to mention all the dams we've built on the Columbia river that have hindered the salmon from migrating further up River. Watch Oregon and Washington build another dam just because they closed all the coal power plants for climate change, just to make up for all the electricity lost and avoid power outages. Our eco system will be doomed just because our politicians don't go fishing LOL.
@@dimkawhite7272 I like, and appreciate your perspective. There aren’t enough people out there that get it. This fishery is going downhill and it’s sad to see. I’ve never liked the “take take take” mentality. It’s gotten us into a lot of trouble and it just continues.
Elliot Kutch - There are only a couple rivers in Oregon that do.. most chum are north of us.. being that we have so few, I don’t target them specifically.. there is a small catch and release window..
It's nothing to break a pole 0n those chums, one year I hooked fresh chrome soon as I set the hook it ran straight across the river and my line buried in the reel and we all heard the line snap, it sounded like a gun shot,I was using a 15to 30 G loomis and 25 lb. Line, all the guides were laid flat on my pole. Thank God I brought another rod with me , tight lines everyone
mike lee - I’ve had pretty consistent issues with the eyelet inserts breaking on the lamiglas but have never broke one on a fish before. As Kevin mentioned, those chum can be pretty aggressive and destroy any salmon/steelhead rod.... but after this break and the other issues I’ve had, I think I’m going to switch up some rods
@@semiauto556 they are but..... catch and release season just closed on the 15th. The season closes when they really start coming in in good numbers. Obviously to protect them. They can come in pretty thick and too many people try snagging them
LMFAO the fish had it coming..... but i must say, i have a lot of respect for these fish and the waterways they travel... How quick things changed in 9 seconds for that fish lol
How do you find which spots in the rivers to try and fish? Do you e-scout, or find a spot on a river and cast and walk until you find a fish lol? You should do a video on how you scout for areas.
DonnyTsunami - lol I have tried typing it out before but considering the mass amount of info it’s hard to keep track of and follow. I will have to take the time to organize the info better and get it into a video.. I definitely have reasons for fishing where I do.. it may take some time but I will do a vid eventually. Quite a few people ask the same question about how I pick my spots
@@AnglingAddictsPNW that would be awesome. The only spots I really know are spots my dad has taken me all my life to plunk in the Columbia. Now I want to branch out and try to do my own thing but have no idea where to start lol
@@LEGENDARYTRUCK, I live in Cannon Beach and would like to change it up from Barview. Have you or anyone you know been going out on non-construction days? I heard a rumor some brave souls are just going around the fence on weekends.
Wow, that is an insane amount of eggs! I paid $30 for them store-bought ones and I'm jealous as heck! I'll have to catch one like yours to save some $! LOL Hey Nick, what spinner was that on your website that caught that nice King?
AA Angling - where are you at? That does suck. I’m assuming the waters in your area are pretty shallow and small? It IS pretty easy to snag fish in the right conditions but it’s pretty hard to snag fish with a single hook in place of the treble hook.
I just get out there and explore new areas after doing some research about the timing of fish runs on a specific river then play the whole game of figuring out where to find them... i may make a video on scouting new rivers and how to find "good fishing spots" there is a ton that goes into my thought process.... best advice explore as much water as you can..
Rob Cappa - Thanks man, I’m always out and about, if you get out enough you are bound to run into me at some point 🎣 I usually use a 30lb PowerPro braid on my reels, and about 3ft of 20lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon leader
Brian King - Thanks Brian, it always feels good to put in the effort to find somewhere new and to actually catch fish.. that was a lot of gas money and time to fish this river lol.. this was roughly a week ago
Ian - thanks Ian! It’s been a while since I’ve fished Bonnie lure. I know it was slammed with fishermen most of the season. Heard there were lots of fish seen but not many caught. Honestly, anywhere out there can be good when the time is right, especially with a bit of higher flows...
William Collins - do you mean private land?most people will post signs because “trespassing” becomes a big issue on their property. You can’t just walk through private property to get to the river. It’s not always easy to tell if you are on public or private property and there is still a huge legal grey area when it comes to where people can fish..
@@AnglingAddictsPNW thank you for your reply and your videos. I’m trying to find new fishing spots but I get nervous of trespassing. Do you have a recommendation of a map you use?
I'm sure we can make that happen at some point. I know you are further away but just remembered where exactly on your last comment about steelhead fishing coos bay area. Between salmon and steelhead fishing the rivers and bay to fishing along the ocean, there are plenty of opportunities around.
michael kline - most are north of Oregon but they do get caught randomly on the coastal tribs when you are fishing them low enough. I don’t target them specifically since they are all native.. one of those fish I prefer to just leave alone if I can.
Martin Hz - Sorry man, I can’t say. Considering how many people watch these vids as well as those that read through comments looking for location, if I said where this was the riverbank would be lined with fishermen. I put in quite a bit of time and effort exploring the river and finding the fish.. I’ve seen too many times what happens when I name a place
Gil G. Sorry man, I can’t say. I put in quite a bit of time and effort exploring the river and finding the fish.. I’ve seen too many times what happens when I name a place
@@AnglingAddictsPNW thank you for taking the time to respond. No need to apologize my giy. Your content is why I love your channel. Keep up the good work and if you read this after thanksgiving, enjoy it!
Ivan Fesyuk - thank you. I go all over the place. The fish don’t come in to all the rivers at the same time so I’m usually jumping around different rivers trying to figure out where the fish are... sometimes I get lucky
Derick Jahnk - Thanks Derick! Lol ya I’ve had a lot of lamiglas rods and they seem to be the only rods that can’t handle my abuse. The eyelet inserts seem to be the first thing to break. I’ve never snapped a rod before but it was partially my fault on the chum. I’m gonna pick up another rod or two to try. I do like how light the lamiglas feels in the hand though.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Might try to swing a deal with a custom builder. You could have something like a Rainshadow RX7 blank built up with Composite grips for a decent price (still more than an X11 but way better on every front). Or might try the Redline series of Lamiglas.
@@TheD510addict I do have a redline casting rod (9’4”) which I’ve been happy with..... minus the missing eyelet insert lol. I was also contemplating building a custom rod myself. I’ve been wanting to for a while now
@@AnglingAddictsPNW you seem like you have the patience to do so. I like building my own rods. Just take it slow, and keep it simple....you can make a hand wrapper out of a stiff cardboard box. After that it is pretty straightforward.
Dennis Ross - I will be picking up a license for Washington again next year. I’d love to join ya. I’m still trying to figure that area out. I’ve spent so much of my time exploring new areas down here
I hope you kept the meat off of those fish and didnt just throw the rest away like garbage. Salmon are a really good tasting fish so if you kill it for its eggs you might as well keep the meat instead wasting a perfectly good fish.
Kbkar4m - of course I kept it. I’m not one to waste things. I’m more interested in the meat than the eggs. I don’t do a whole lot of bobber and egg fishing but I do cure them up and share with my buddies. I was just pulling out the eggs so I could finish cleaning the fish.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW That's great then! With the amount of salmon/steelhead fishing I've done I have seen so many people kill salmon take their eggs and throw their carcass back in the water like the fish is garbage that I'm am just so sick of people doing it. That's good for you that you kept the meat and didn't be like those people. You have just gained an extra subscriber! Tight lines!
