Thanks for listening to my fellow Portland, Oregon moms, and filming their stories ❤ Really disheartening to watch our vibrant and eclectic city crumble over the years.
Leave Oregon. Make your life better. Get a better job. Leave that crap there. It's not like the serial killer is going to follow you to a new city where you make more money and your kids get a better education. Oregon is a magnet for those people.
@@ragemonkey3163are you an Oregonian as well? Portland is currently struggling but many other locations in the state are doing well and are perfect for raising kids.
Oregon is over 98,000 sq miles. Portland and Eugene are but a small portion of our state. Of our 36 counties, most of them vote and live the opposite of Portland. Getting rid of DA Schmidt will be a huge improvement to Portland, he is OUT. @ragemonkey3163
@@Overitanne no. Originally from NY, MA, and VA. Lived abroad for 11 years in Bangkok and Tokyo, and four years in PR. I'm planning to move back to Bangkok in two years and I'm considering renouncing my US citizenship. There just isn't a whole lot of point in staying an American anymore at least for me.
@@ragemonkey3163 So you actually have zero understanding of any of those places then lol. You aren't going to learn shit about an area if you live there for like 1-3 years and move every other month. Telling people to just magically drop everything and leave it all behind is not always easy. Some people have family who relies on them, or deep roots with many business clients or personal relationships made across multiple decades. Or children already partially through schooling who they don't want to force away from everything that they know. It's a lot easier to just tell people "Oh if there is something wrong there then just leave!" This is not a fairy tail bro, very few people are going to do that until a last resort.
Brian, you are a good example of what journalism should be like. I can't even wrap my head around all of the travel you take to cover stories, too. Def a fav reporter. ❤
Brian, I love your reporting style and the empathy you project. Not many reporters can connect to victims and the audience like you do. Thank you for being their voice.
Easily! I also can’t believe he goes for runs after all the murders he reports on LOL I only run on a treadmill for years now because I don’t want to find a dead body…or end up as one!
@@larsonfamilyhouse only chance of me running is if a bear was after me. no chance of that occurring.. lol 🐨s are always drunk on eucalyptus. 🤣😂 😉 😀 ✌🏻🌏🇦🇺🤘🏻
Same ... although drop bears are prolific in the rural areas where i live unfortunately. So I might have to skip the run DARN IT 😅. @claire-christmas-august73
@@claire-christmas-august73Where I live it's not so much the Koala Bears 🐨 or drop Bears you need to worry about. It's the Brush Tail Possums! Some of them the size of small dogs! They could take you out with a swish of that tail 😂😂 ❤ from Melbourne 🇦🇺
Thanks Brian for giving these Moms a voice. I'm watching from Canada and a Mom of 4, my oldest has been addicted to drugs since age of 14, living on and off the streets, I and her siblings keep in contact with her but she lives what she loves. I raised her son(he is now 30) and have contact with her daughter (she was adopted). No matter I am still her Mom and I still love her and finally accept her choices. Drug addicts are people too.❤💔❤
So much trauma for you.😢 Such a horrible experience for you and your family. I hope you can find peace in a terrible situation. I am thankful that my children have never experienced drug addiction. Peace and love sent to you and your family, including your daughter. ♥️
💟 Awe I'm so sorry 😞 Yes you are a great Mom with a whole lot of Love. I don't dare judge as I've had this in my family as well. Take good care and thankyou 💕 🤗
I grew up in the shitty side of city, many of my childhood friends are addicts, dead or jailed. I love them all the same, but I have one strict rule, I wont give out money. I’ll buy you groceries or clothes if I can, but money is out of the question. I know your struggles, mama, it’s not fair, but Im happy she still has you. Everyone should have safe people around, but many have no one..
Because the bodies were dumped in several counties, all with different police departments. The victims were dumped in Multnomah County, Polk County and Clackamas County. It's not like TV it takes time to identify the person, how they died and get back all forensic evidence. You wouldn't know if it was a serial killer until the 2nd or 3rd victim which in this case was eight weeks. Eight weeks is nothing.
@@gustotrankin7383 Why they were all out there, homeless and helpless, is the reason they're dead now. People need to look after each other. Serial predators are supremely aware that there is a bounty of "their type" of victim readily available. These men do not consider women as humans. They are seen as prey. The way each girl has to fend for herself in this country, with predators everywhere, means there will be more and more murder sprees. The culture is sick.
That there is a distinction between a homeless person who's been murdered or someone who isn't is stunning .Shouldn't it just be a person has been murdered and we do everything to find the killer?!We should be looking after the most vulnerable no matter how they have gotten into their present situation. I cant imagine knowing that this happened to your child. So glad these moms joined forces!!!Sad that it was necessary.
Thank you. It's been a hard battle for sure. I wanted charity's sorry to be heard. No matter how hard that is the desire to be her voice is stronger. Though from time to time we do get medical issues from trying to be too strong emotionally. Thank you for caring charity perry's mom.
Dear Brian, you are the best on-the-ground reporter I've ever followed. Your humanity, care, and thoroughness are unparalleled. I cannot personally fathom all that travel! I'm grateful for what you do. It's beautiful to see a fellow roam around the world seeking truth. Cheers
That was an incredibly moving video Brian. You are such an empathetic journalist and you can tell you have a real passion for finding justice for the victims and their families. The Mums of those daughters are incredibly strong and brave ladies. ❤
I live in Portland and also grew up within a mile if that culvert where charity was found 😟 those culverts/tunnels aren’t easily found or widely known to people in Portland. It’s about a 30-40 minute drive from Portland. I’m glad this guy has been indicted!!
Thank you so much for standing up for people struggling with substance abuse disorder. I am in recovery and the guilt you live with- it’s traumatizing. No one wants to end up like that. I had a lot of childhood trauma and I never knew how to cope. When experimented as a young adult, I fell into it because it was the only escape from the pain I lived with since childhood that ever experienced. These people have lives, hopes, dreams, wishes, families- thank you. ❤
Thank you for shining a light Brian. These women matter. If anything, cops and everyone else should care MORE about vulnerable people leading higher risk lives than those leading “normal” lives- as they need our help the most!
It is so heartbreaking to hear the stories and see the tears from their mothers. They were incredibly brave to go where her daughters were found, it had to be unimaginably difficult. I’m so sorry for their loss. I grew up near Portland and lived in Portland , until 2004. It’s a very different place now, and I can’t even visit anymore. 😢
My heart goes out to the families and Krista. Krista is a victim. Just in a different way. But non the less a victim. She seems very lost. I hope she finds the support she needs to pull through. Hopefully Justice will be served in all the cases
Thank you Brian. You're the best of the best in news correspondents. Let us not forget that for all those years the Gilgo Beach victims were ignored too because of the work they did as escorts. The girlfriend's interview IMO was bizarre to say the least. In addition to her being the girlfriend of a cold blooded killer, it seems to me that she was clueless that she herself was being being emotionally and physically abused and possibly even sexually too by that POS monster. She should thank her lucky stars when she confronted him that he did not snap and she ended up becoming a victim too.
Great interview with the girlfriend! We got a window into his odd bedroom proclivities. She seems like a nice girl who needs to work on having boundaries. She was used, abused and is still being manipulated by a monster apparently. I hope she snaps out of her daze and gets rid of his stuff and stops talking to him.
Thank you for bringing attention to this story and to these women. I've lived in Portland for the last 30 years and yes things have changed and our city has been hit hard by a lot of things, like all major cities in the US. It's very visible here. Our city has been hit hard by the economic rollercoaster that America has been on, and Portland has been the focus of a lot of politically divisive hateful scapegoating- which has taken a toll and been a barrier to getting our problems addressed. These women and their families, and many many other people here, pay that price. It's brutal and dehumanizing. Thank you for bringing some human kindness to this story. It makes a difference.
He is connected! I saw a clip on RU-vid with the mom and Jesse's ex girlfriend, with some other guy going through that "compound," and the girlfriend had been taken there by Jesse at one point, but there were rooms locked and areas that he wouldn't take her. I pray for the answers she seeks, and for closure and relief from this nightmare!!
Former governor, Kate Brown. After the Almeda Fire in S. Oregon. Her response was "they'll rebuild". The fire was 3 years ago. Many residents are still in temporary housing. Over 5000 homes & businesses burned to the ground. Experts say it takes an area 8-10 years to recover from such a disaster.
All of oregon should be ashamed!…. The second to the lowest scores in education The most missing children per capita in the nation Low income and pervasive poverty… Homeless children! And serial killers … yes. Plural. In these particular cases YT creators are the ones that called out this situation and created the demand for investigation by police.
Did you hear about the police investigating a desert in Colorado, as some guy on a ATV found loads of womens high heels out in the middle of nowhere, and a mutilated cat. Horrific stuff happening all over!
Omg you just sent chills all over my body. I live in CO, am marginalized, single, live alone, but my saving grace is that I quit wearing heels a few years ago.
I truly appreciate how compassionate and respectful you always are while reporting, Brian. You are one of the few reporters I can stomach listening to and also trust with the information given to me. Thank you for helping bring awareness to this case! When I first heard about it, which was when the talk had just started about the ladies being killed and there was a pastor I think who had spoken up about how he had been telling the police how he was sure there was a serial killer going after the vulnerable girls but the police didn't seem to care since the ladies were part of a more vulnerable population.
The fact that they let him out because he helped fight a fire, like that has anything to do with whether or not he’s safe to be in public. In fact, going to fight a bushfire sounds like EXACTLY the kind of thing that a very dangerous person would find extremely thrilling and be the first to sign up for.
Thank you for covering this sad story. I live in Southern Oregon, only go to Portland for medical at OHSU, which is great. Oregon has massive drug problems because hard drugs aren't prosecuted and don't believe the propaganda that marijuana taxes pay for rehabilitation, there is NO REHAB. OUR VETS ARE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE.
It’s the mismanagement of money. Obviously the drug war hasn’t detoured drug use over the past decades and there are drugs in prison so what good is prosecution. Ppl are gonna get the stuff anyways.
I also live in Southern Oregon. The drug problem is extreme to an epidemic level with homeless encampments along the highways and roads even in rural areas. It is incredibly sad what has happened over the past ten years. People who use drugs regularly are probably two thirds of the population.
This sad story aside, I love this reporting style/vibe and we all love Brian, he’s wonderful, few journalists/reporters have captured my attention the way his personality and professionalism does.
BRIAN, That was a powerful report. I could visualize what the city looked like. I don't know what we are all to do in this county with the drug problem. Our government has to do something, like yesterday! The drugs are killing our kids and serial killers can just take their pick of victims.💔 I am happy the women have band together. I am praying for them. Hopefully they can tie him to the other 2 victims. I can't imagine what these women are going through. I will continue to follow this story and I hope you do to.❤
Brian, I want the moms to know that there are a lot of people who care about their daughters & have not forgotten them. When this story first broke and the LE were saying this was not a serial killer I thought the same thing as the moms. Either there is a serial killer or there are FIVE crazy killers on the loose. Maybe LE didn't take this seriously because these were marginalized people. I read the comments on message boards & news articles & I saw many people who were convinced this was a serial killer. I hope & pray that every mother gets justice for her daughter. Everyone of them matter, everyone counts, everyone is precious. Thank you, Brian, for keeping the spotlight on these senseless deaths.
Brian Entin, thank you for sharing these mothers’ stories with all of us. 💗 Portland has changed so much over the years and not for the better. I hope that all of their daughters receive the justice that they deserve. 💞
Wow.. I have been wondering what was happening with this case. So, so, sad. 😢 But how beautiful, that these moms have joined forces to bring “their Girls” justice. I can’t even imagine their pain. Thank God, these ladies have each other. 🙏💕
These moms are some of the strongest women I've ever seen, how they have united and done actual investigation work trying to find their love ones. God give them the answers they need so they can heal and give them peace of mind and spiritual strength 🙏❤️🙏❤
Thanks so much for this reporting. Liked and subscribed. Woman and mother living outside PDX here. I agree the drug epidemic leaves women so vulnerable in crazy horrible ways.
Thank you for recognizing that despite these women suffering from substance use disorder, their murder investigations still deserve the same amount of attention from the public and law enforcement as any other person would. We never know what a persons life was life prior to their struggles with addiction and they should not be judged because of it. These were peoples children, daughters, sisters, friends, coworkers, and classmates. Their families deserve justice the same as any other family would.
You either haven't experienced DV firsthand or haven't educated yourself on the effects of DV on the victim and the behaviors related to it. I truly hope you will never learn to understand the gf points of conflict ever, except by becoming educated in DV, not by being a victim...
Thank you Brian for reporting about these women. My hometown is the blueprint of large city overpopulation. More and more people that once were middle class bumped right into poverty. People are packing into neighborhoods. Paying more even smaller apartments just to be in the area. Also because of the light rail system (MAX)in place. Most places you don’t need a car to get around.
Other States have paid the one way bus fares to get rid of thousands of people they don't want to deal with. Because Oregon is a sanctuary State, this has been going on since the 80's. Our streets are dangerous. Our neighborhoods are ruined, our towns are ruined. I used to work in public transportation, so I have first hand knowledge of this. Maybe you should do an investigation on where all of the homeless in oregon are from and what state paid the ticket for them. Thank you for covering this story. It's terrible. I talked to a man who stabbed someone in Seattle. The court gave him a choice, jail time or a one way ticket to Oregon. He was a passenger on my bus. This is the reason Oregon is ruined.
Like he was gonna tell her he commited 5 or god knows how many murders! If i thought that about my bf id be running for the hills after i told the police my suspicions!
If you ask the homeless population of Portland, they will tell you there's FAR more people who have disappeared and it's well known in their community. The governor, Kate Brown, destroyed our state. Portland is disgusting., but all of Oregon has suffered under her watch. The drug epidemic is at an all time high. I don't know that we will ever recover.
The poor mom has to think about it . And talk to a stranger, very difficult to it no matter the drug issues, nobody deserves to be hurt like this nobody, she is a child of God and is a precious life! And had people who loved her!❤❤❤❤May she and the other girls rest in peace, and may there families find peace also!
i like how open his ex is, seems like a nice gal. respect how she can articulate her situation and is comfortable explaining what seemingly are uncomfortable personal topics
Aw..🫤 My prayers are with all of these Moms..❤ I'm so sad that they are in this position, that their kids have been stolen from them, but I am glad that they have each other. Thank You,Brian for covering these ladies' stories.
JessieLeeCalhounYoungShannonHoonWildFireFighterHeroYetGirlKillerOfSerialSaloonsInKowloonOregonHulaZowieZoom! Brian, seriously as an Oregonion and Floridian, I can appreciate your in-depth reporting and consoling those poor mothers, uninvestigated...😢😢😢
If drug rehab was more accessible, there probably wouldn't be so many addicts in the homeless community. Treatment is HUGELY expensive and most addicts don't have insurance coverage because they're unemployed. If they miraculously do have insurance, it traditionally only pays for 28 days of inpatient care. That is not long enough to make the behavioral changes in the brain that is needed to ensure success in sobriety.
She said she wasn't too concerned about him killing her, but then she thought he was guilty, but now she's willing to sell his possessions for him to have money on his books !? She's seems mentally ill. Of corse, he's not going to hurt her because he is only attracted to young girls. She is much older than the victims. She also seems a little off.
I have lived in Portland or the suburbs of Portland all my life. I now live in Beaverton, a suburb of Portland and has its share of homelessness and drug abuse. But I refuse to go to Portland by myself now, I usually only go with my husband. It’s not the same city I knew as a kid and young adult and it’s so sad. The “city of roses” isn’t as pretty as a rose anymore.
one reason why the system is so messed up is that portlands mayor also serves as police commissioner. there was also the major defunding of police which led to a cop shortage. there are only a few detectives in the whole portland metro region. the criminals also get let out or are not allowed to be arrested with the new laws. so. the cops likely care but are so overwhelmed, short staffed, and backlogged im not surprised they missed it. so sorry to hear these moms are struggling to get justice for their daughters. thank you for the update
How horrible that the mothers of the victims had to do the investigating themselves because the police didn't care about multiple women being murdered.
Sickening that we have people capable of these things walking among us and we are none the wiser about it until it's too late. I hope these families get the justice they deserve. May their daughters rest in peace 🙏🕊️🕊️.
