I want self-serve gas ! Give me the choice all other states have with the exception of New Jersey. Tired of waiting for others to perform this simple task. If you don't want to pump your own gas then use the full service options. Nothing has been taken away from you! No jobs are being lost. They still have to provide attendants. The people have spoken. The House and the Senate voted and passed HB 2426 to give people their right to self serve! They represent the people by being elected to serve for us. It's time for us to have our wishes granted. Who gets hurt by this? No one in my opinion!

I've been pumping gas in Oregon for years because you can never find an employee around to do it. And of course it's just like Walmart who now makes you check out yourself without the benefit of a cashier it's a DYI mentality with no savings to the customer but the companies make money because they don't have to pay employees. It's just making customers pay more with less value less service

Well, it was nice while it lasted...

I always tip the attendant as a thank you, they only make minimum wage. Hopefully they all don’t get fired.

I'm just passing through Oregon again. I prefer to pump the gas myself. People that don't know how much be kind of lame. A couple years ago when I was in Portland I had a car that was diesel. I thought the attendants were going to pump my diesel. I saw many cars getting refueled by attendants and I waited and I waited ata diesel pump. I finally went to an attendant and asked him about refueling my car, then he asked me if my car is diesel. I said yes. Then he told me I have to refuel diesel cars myself. I thought that was strange, keeping in line with the moto keep Portland strange. They should approve a self service and full service pumps just like every gas station across the country had in the 80's and before.

Do not want it. Ive had to do it many times in other states - hate it.

Now do something about the muffler problem. Every ghetto car and redneck truck in Washington county is beyond loud.

A gas attendant is good. It’s more jobs and in other states gas stations are more likely to have muggings and car jackings at gas stations. Look at Houston, TX

If you have a demonstrated inability to pump gas without making a mess, you probably shouldn’t have a driver’s license.

Here is the downside though. More people will be out of work and the prices won't go down.

Where did they find these geriatrics that can't pump their own gas? I've been pumping gas since I was 10 in my parents vehicles, and moved to Oregon in 2015. I have never once gotten gas on myself, and have never incorrectly replaced the fuel cap. I cannot say the same for these "trained" professionals I have to wait for, to install the fuel cap in correctly or lose the key. I agree with #LetsGoBrandon, let freedom ring. Now we just need to get rid of mandatory helmets for adults on motorcycles, and allow motorcycles to use all these bike lanes that know bicycles are ever using.

I'm not pumping my own to save 2 cents on $4.50/gal gas.

I'm from Oregon, but largely grew up out of state. It's a non-issue elsewhere. I'm glad they'll keep at least one attendant working. I hope most places keep enough help available so that they aren't overwhelmed, but I won't hold my breath. I'm happy I'll have the option now. Most of the time I would just assume do it myself, but often have to wait on an understaffed station with half their pumps closed or wait on the attendant to finish with 3 other vehicles before they can finish mine.

I love how everyone against pumping their own gas sound like very old people.

The rest of North America pumps their own. It's the of things. No more waiting for that one attendant to finish off 3 cars before getting to me. No more having someone else using my card. Motorcycles pump their own Diesel can pu.p their own.

Deal with it, people. Not that hard, and the option to be coddled will still be there for those who are afraid of a thing many of us have done in most of the country with no problem.

When i moved to WA briefly, i was shocked the 1st time i went to the pump! One of the things i seriously disliked about living there, perhaps #2 worst, next to their SALES Tax! I just fear that once started, they will quickly move to ONLY self-serve & that would suk for Disabled especially!

Just throw 1000s of people out of work just so the gas stations won't have to pay a living wage. 10 cents a gallon is what it costs for a attendant and do you think the price will go down? Hell no. Big oil and big government will just pocket it.

You will have a choice to pump your gas or not. I prefer to pump my gas like I used to in Texas.

Where will the exited prisoners work? This is a controlled group of employees by ex-prisoners.
