Funny how cookies can clarify difference at some level, but doubt the technique could have predicted the thought process. Before editing this, I was sure the 3/8 chain & 262 was a faster combination than even the 560 & Oregon. urns out the 560 & County line actually produced the fastest cut time. Part of the reason I never went to this level of research was a "faith" in the core "oem" related brand offerings. Part of the take away is the aftermarket off brands from Asian sources have evolved.
WHY do this?? Because outside of the Chainsaw "Enthusiast" community these are the products folks typically see and have to decide to go with the more expensive OEM or these type things. AND as this will show, times have changed to where that decision is not quite as clear cut as it was even five years ago.

I love the speedcut bars and chain for firewood in the 40 to 55 cc saws. The Husqvarna sp33g has a longer tooth but cost more. Oregon speedcut bars are the best for narrow kerf and are lighter than the others IMO.

You touched on the speed cuts grind/profile, I cant sharpen it good enough to match the out of the box speed with a round file or dremel, I can get it close but it's never as fast. It also binds easily after the chain is filed half way back as it gets too narrow for the bar. I put a oregon 20bpx(regular width semi chisel) on the speed cut bar when the chain is wore out now. I like that chain better, the cutters are way longer so I can sharpen it twice as much before it's wore out and use the whole cutter up without issue.

You are probably right, I cut mostly white oak hickory and red oak and they are a bit softer. Thanks for the reply.

254 and 262 both had 3/8 pitch w/16" bars 8 pin sprocket. Using both oregon and stihl chain. 90 % pulpwood cutting. If we had bigger hardwood to cut, 262. We just werent happy with.325 chain cutting speed/ profile. Are those 254 and 262 tuned to 14,500 rpm? Never ever ever burned one up. 32:1😁 2024 40:1. Mix oil improved.

I’ve been buying loops of the oregon chain before exl can’t think of the name right now off the top of my head. Find pretty good deals on bay.

Your spot on about Oregon's speedcut bar's being underated very nice profile and super light weight one of my favourite bar's now on small saw's, but I can't stand the "M" series chain's they recommend or pair up with these bar's truly a shame and give's these bar's only a so so feel and kind of a bad rap. I stumbled across what I consider a great combo and that's to pair up the speedcut bar's with Stihl's newish 23RS pro chain's not their old 23RS but their pro series in .325 it's a thin kerf chain just like the speedcut bar's, it's the only .325 chain I've used to date that cut's and act's just like full 3/8'' chain. You don't get that slow feeling like your having to lean on it or push it through the cut like most .325 chain's, it pull's itself or "self feeds" it really get's after it. Very smooth very fast just a nice chain to use with the speedcut bar, anyways maybe worth a try for you at some point just my two cent's, take care.

I have been watching your content for a few years now and really enjoy what you are doing here. I have a question that may have been answered in a past video and if it was I am sorry , but I wanted to know if your 262 is stock ? It seems a bit slow compared to mine. I have a 262xp and it had some work done to it before I got it 20+ years ago, porting and muffler modifications. It is loud but it really turns well and cuts very fast for a 62 cc saw. I have other bigger saws 372, 575, but for average size trees and topping work I really love my 262xp ! I hope to use many the things I have learned here to keep it going for another 20 years. Thanks for all the entertainment and info I have really gained a lot by watching .

It's probably not slow, I have very hard wood. Hear that all the time until folks show up and see reality of these woods :) And it is stock
