Between Austin dying of a cold and Billy getting killed by a bear, I feel like the banker dude would have just spent your entire budget on something stupid like trail bikes if you had recruited him.

There's something rather dark about watching the perky, somewhat developed, and decently acted FMV characters die in awful and painful ways

You missed the best wagon member, the medicine lady who can heal anything. The people you have to select from are different each time you play.

6:38 - The way he says "wife" makes me think that she needed a way to get to America and he needed a beard.

Dude the actors are great.

austin billings never having been sick, then dying from a cold actually make sense, if he'd grown up really sheltered and never gotten sick his immune system wouldn't be used to fighting stuff off , combine that with foreign allergens and bacteria, and you've got a bad time right there.

Well, as Ian predicted in his Yukon Trail-video, he forgot about the trail-game-scoreboard.

It's strange rewatching these old videos and seeing Ian with short hair instead of his glorious long locks.

At this point it's Oregon Fail and everybody's dead.

So, the person who's never gotten sick dies of illness and the guy who has wrestled just about every animal dies from being mauled by a bear......... oh, the irony!

I just assumed you died on the trip and now this place is purgatory and the 'ghost' man is just someone who died as well probably from the extreme amount of bears out in the wild.

In the first Oregon Trail game you could write epithets on the tombstones of deceased party members, and anyone playing or even playing a copy of that original, could stumble across and read the tombstones of other parties. I had a copy of my pal Dominick family’s version, my little brother was playing with my mom and they came across a grave of “Holly,” (Dominick’s mom’s name,) whose epithet read; “She gave one helluva blow job.” It was a neighborhood scandal as rips had been passed out to multiple families in the neighborhood!” Hahahaha! I wish I knew who wrote it, my guess was Dominick’s dad.

Brutalmoose has had this channel for a long time, and he's accomplished a great deal. Let's take a moment and acknowledge his successes with a round of [piece of wood]. In all seriousness, though, here's to our pioneer of a RU-vidr. :) Keep up the good work, Brutalmoose.

Both Billy and Austin had ironic deaths, Austin said he had never been sick and he died on sickness and Billy said he could take on wildlife and died to animal mauling...

Ok, it's pretty smart having Austin die of a cold. Turns out he really hasn't been sick once in his natural born life and that means he hasn't built up an immunity. Got a kind of War of the Worlds twist there.

This game was my favorite as a kid! Word of advice, use caution bringing the Irish guy. He's a butcher, so the chickens I brought along with me started suddenly disappearing...and my meat stores going up.

Apparently Nicholas J. Tillman is a gag character throughout the games who gives intentionally terrible advice

The acting of the NPCs in this game is actually pretty impressive

Man, talk about a nostalgia trip. This is the version of the game I grew up with, and I think it's great and I've heard too few people talk about it. It was a pleasant surprise to see this in my sub feed.

I only ever played the very first one at school, you had to boot off those massive floppy discs. All I really remember is dying once and typing "he farted" on my headstone. Then another kid on the network found it and told the teacher, and i actually got in a lot of trouble. . . for some reason.

Oregon Trail III was my Oregon Trail! I remember being so excited once I made it to disc 3. I never made it all the way to Oregon, though...
