I chuck all the weeds into a compost bin, a pallet cube thing, lots die due to being smothered by, allotment material, lawn cuttings, etc. some sprout and get smothered again . Mind you my compost heaps sit around for three years. Covered to exclude light and water. I turn them each spring with the year three pile dug out and any surviving roots picked out, before use. Year two pile goes into bin three, year 1 into year two, leaving a bin to fill up during the season. Not sure my method is particularly commendable, but I don’t get many perennial roots. The thing to avoid IMHO is seed heads from grass, docks, etc. the seeds are the things that seem to survive. My method though is motivated as much as having somewhere go put the weeds, unwanted plants , mowings in a space in the allotment. Rather than a plan to provide usable compost as quickly as possible. Sort of tidy with benefits.

I also use to the two bucket system for weeding, makes so much sense. Good idea to keep the axe out of reach of little vikings, little fingers come off too easily.

With the perennial weeds you can deposit those in an old wheelie bin on site and they will perish in a couple of years especially if the lid fits as there is no moisture to allow any growth

Put some fine chicken wire around the bases of your enclosed garden beds to deter rats chewing through the netting. 😉

You can make a fertilizer tea with the likes of dandelion, nettle roots (the tops can go onto the compost heap) and bindweed the whole plant strain and dilute the actual solid material can then go on the compost as they are now dead
