We recently visited Tulum, Mexico and our resort the Papaya Playa Project is a great example of Organic Luxury. Valentina, thanks for taking us along on your trip to Tulum. I've been to Tulum once in 2013 and can say you definetely need more time to explore the surronundings and country. The Gran Cenote is an absolue must. Bring snorkeling gear with you or if you are into diving, this is the most amazing spot. Chichen Itza is also worth a visit, but I recommend renting a car and driving there by your own instead of attending a guided tour managed by the hotels. That way you can be there early and you are done once all busses have arrived at 11am. Futrhermore the ruins shouldn't be forgotten as well as the marvellous white sand beaches with the gorgeous carribean blue water. I am absolutely in love. For anyone who is interested: we've stayed at the Posada Yum Kin. A small appartement complex which was very cute. I could go on and on, but end my comment here. Which it was as near to Germany as it is to the US. Have a great day! 💕🌴☀️

Papaya play project is on my bucket list! It looks amazing. Yes the iguanas are everywhere. It looks like the seaweed is bad. If you’re planning a trip it’s good to find out how bad the seaweed is. Usually the summer months are bad but some years aren’t. We learned they track it and see when it will hit and how bad. Top Recommendations 1. Xcaret 2. Chichen pyramid is amazing but an all day trip. 3. Tulum ruins having an amazing view of ocean. 4. Coba is the only one you can climb pyramid, it’s an amazing view. Taking a boat to isla mujeres is worth it, go early to get golf cart and explore the island.

Valentina, thank you for taking us with you. I truly enjoyed your perspective on just life overall. You appreciate the big and little things. I’d like to think I am the same way - so I tend to resonate with people like me. Anyway, I’ve been to Mexico a few times but I have not been to Tulum. You have now convinced me to go - stat! Try Oaxaca next time! Especially since you love artisanal goods - you would probably not know what to do there with all the wonderful things they have to offer. I brought home an extra luggage just to be able to bring home all the goodies. About the mug, look up Barro Negro - it’s black clay that originated from Oaxaca. I got a set of barro negro mugs and plates from my trip there. It looks like the mug you are looking for. Kind regards! Stay amazing ❤️ and inspiring ❤️

We went to Playa del Carmen 20 years ago and stayed at a home literally on the beach. We went to Tulum to see the Mayan ruins. Love Mexico. Our experience was wonderful.

Thank you for sharing your adventure with us! What a unique experience! I haven't had much desire to go to Mexico, but you might have changed my mind! I love the rustic yet refined home goods and atmosphere. When editing, did you notice the lizard on the wall adjacent to where you were browsing in a shop? It dropped so fast that I had to see if it was a giant spider before I could keep watching [33:05]. 😂 Glad you are all back home, safe and well!

I've been to Mexico 2ce. We stayed in Tulum at the Rosa del Viento and was so disappointed to learn it's now permanently closed. Watching your tour videos brought back the whole vibe of that trip (the taxi driver driving very fast down the road, the shops, a trip into town on a bus with the locals. The beach was absolutely gorgeous. It was hot! Lots of iguanas at the ruins. I bought vanilla at the duty free shop, and I plan on making my own soon. We took a side trip to Belize, then got on a boat with some other folks and cruised out to an island, which is considered to be their park district, to spend the afternoon. Beautiful. Too much to talk about here

Our entire family was in Cancun and Tulum last year. Visited Casa Malca, and enjoyed the white sand beach and the great restaurants at Casa Malca. Had the chance too to visit the famous Giant Sculture called Ven a la Luz.(Come into Light) and so many other coffee shops. Glad to see that your family had an amazing time. Love to go back.

We honeymooned in Cancun and 5 months later we were making reservations to return for our 1 year anniversary. For our anniversary we stayed further south in Playa de Carmen - Cancun was too crowded for us. We returned for our 2nd anniversary. Skipped 3rd (Cabo - yuck). And then back to Playacar for our 4th. Our plan was to stay further south in Tulum for the next time, but sadly we've not made it for "next time". For anyone going... alternate days at your resort with excursion days. Especially if you're staying at an all-inclusive - you want to take advantage of the all-inclusive and swimming in the Caribbean, but also not miss out on experiences. We saw Chichen Itza (hubs favorite), Tulum (really hot and lots of iguanas), and Coba (my favorite) ruins. We did Rio Secreto one year - that was underground guided tour that was AWESOME. There's a huge theme park (and resort) called Xcaret that has manatees and some natural above ground/open cenotes and you actually can swim through mangroves. Xcaret has an amazing show at the end of the night - it features acts that depict the history of and traditions from different states of Mexico. It's well done. Do not miss your chance to experience a cenote - it's like nothing else. And then of course there's paddle boarding (usually included at the resort) and snorkeling. Oh! And taking the ferry to Cozumel is a nice day too. AND! There's a turtle conservation town called Akumal that makes for a lovely day. Valentina, how was the sargasso situation on the beaches? That may be the only downside. AHH! When travel there it feels like going home and neither my husband nor I are from there! OH my goodness and the sand. The sand is of corral so it's not hot like the sand here in CA. It's a fine white powder that doesn't burn. Oh how I miss it.

Aww great recommendations. I felt the same about Cabo. Once you go to Cancun and surrounding area Cabo doesn’t compare. Xcaret is my number 1 suggestion because of night show. Also you have to do a pyramid and cenote. Coba is the only one you can climb now. I visited Chichen 20 years ago and was able to climb inside and out, such an amazing experience. I visited Cancun area for the first time 20’years ago on my honeymoon and have been going back ever since.

Stucco is a staple of Hispanic home, think old Pueblo and bee hive fireplaces! The contractors are very talented artists who learned their craft from family members passed down for generations. It’s the uniqueness of the surroundings and use of what materials are available that is what draws you. Enjoy!!! A wonderful culture!

!00% agree - 10 days total trip time is the sweet spot. I go 2 times a year minimum . My next stay is coming up September 3rd for 15 days. I enjoy Playa the most. I do want to go to Merida. When I am in Playa I like to stay at Porto Playa Condo Hotels located on 1 Avenida Nte.

Siesta's(sp?) Are a real thing in Mexico ......Tijuana, Rosarita, mazatlan were all like that. Nothing moving between about noon and 3:00 pm.....

Valentina, if you go back, check out Ma’xanab adults only hotel. Super intimate, great customer service, and one of our favorite spots there. (We go to Tulum regularly, and this is one of our secret gems) Your trip looked wonderful and it was so fun seeing you shop at one of my favorite boutiques. The ‘loot’ is awesome!! Well done 👌🏻

I’m so glad you guys loved Tulum, Mexico. I love Mexico, it has been my home. It was hard to move back to the USA. It’s the vibe that is so relaxing and different and being so close to nature, dirt, rocks, palapas, bugs, iguanas, trees, flowers. I hope you’re not too shocked when you get back to the states and all that relaxing vibe goes away.

Loved, loved, loved this. Could have watched it all day! I got a kick out of your 'mountain bumps', people walking in the road, the slower pace comments. The other side of the driving coin is the hairpin curves with cars speeding toward you on the wrong side of the road. When we drove from the airport to our hotel in Acapulco, my husband, a daredevil driver, turned in our rental car and refused to drive another foot. No driving in Mexico City or anyplace else for the full two weeks. Just wild taxi rides. LOL Welcome to Mexico! I has to edit this and add to my comment after watching Jack drive out of the resort. My biggest fear was your next stop was going to be a Mexican jail.
