A multinational corporation, or MNC, is an international corporation whose business activities are spread among at least two countries. To better analyze and understand the organizational cultures of MNCs, Fons Trompenaars, a Dutch organizational theorist, suggested the use of two continua. One distinguishes between equity and hierarchy; the other examines orientation to the person and the task. Along these continua, Trompenaars identifies four different types of organizational cultures: family, Eiffel Tower, guided missile, and incubator.

In this insightful Business School 101 video, the exploration of Multinational Corporation (MNC) organizational cultures caught my attention. Trompenaars' cultural continua, unveiling four types - Family, Eiffel Tower, Guided Missile, and Incubator - shed light on the intricacies of workplace dynamics. What struck me was the emphasis on hierarchy, task orientation, and individual vs. collective focus, revealing the diversity in organizational structures. Understanding these cultural nuances can indeed enhance my comprehension of global business landscapes. A valuable lesson in recognizing the subtle yet profound impact of organizational cultures on multinational corporations.

This was a really excellent video. A company consisting of two or more distinct countries can foster a better awareness of the many cultures by having a better understanding of the four types of cultures seen in multinational corporations. Regardless of the type of work environment a business has, conflict will always arise, thus it's critical to understand how people handle problems in the workplace.

This video was a great video. I especially enjoyed the parts of explaining the different types of cultures in multinational corporations. I think this was important to learn because there are so many corporations that are on the global spectrum, and it is important to understand how to successful work with others of different cultures.

The thing I found more interesting about this video is the guided missile culture, the dedication of giving everything to achieve a goal , to improve ourselves to reach the point you want, and the facts of being "nomads" in job to job is also interesting.

The video provided valuable insights. In a company operating across multiple countries, a deeper comprehension of the four cultural types prevalent in multinational corporations can enhance awareness of diverse cultures. Irrespective of the specific work environment, conflicts are inevitable in any business setting.

This video showed me a lot more ways that multinational organizations can run that I didn't know about. They all come up with approximately the same outcome but the way to get there are all very different, which is very interesting to learn about.

I find this topic extremely intriguing as there are numerous factors that influence how organizations are run in different countries. These include factors such as cultural norms, governmental structures, individual personalities, degrees of freedom or restrictions, and more. All these elements play a significant role in shaping how companies operate, and it would be fascinating to explore how these differences intersect in the organizational cultures and structures of various countries. Nevertheless, I believe that this video effectively explains how to effectively manage these complexities, providing valuable insights for navigating diverse organizational environments.

Comprehending the four types of cultures within a Multinational Corporation is instrumental for a company comprising two or more different countries, fostering a deeper understanding of diverse cultures. Equally crucial is understanding how individuals address conflicts in the workplace, as conflict is inevitable irrespective of the organizational work environment. This knowledge proves essential in navigating and effectively managing conflicts within the organization.

As I understand, there are other terminologies associated with this version. Family - Social, Eiffel Tower - Traditional Command and Control, Guided Missile - Highly Skilled and Incubator - Innovative. While the terminologies appear to be distinct, the way it actually materializes in workplace is typically a blend of one another due to the diversity of interest groups and business lifecycle, which we can evaluate further from National Model lens proposed by Fons Trompenars. Overall, excellent summary.

To me, this is a very interesting topic because so many factors play into how different countries run an organization. For example, their cultures, their governmental structures, their personalities, their freedoms or unfreedoms, etc. All of these and other things play such a significant role in how companies operate and it would be interesting to see how the differences would collide between certain countries in their organization's cultures/structures. But I think this video does a great job of explaining how to manage those things.

Understanding the four types of cultures in a Multinational corporation allows a company that is made of 2 or more different countries helps create a better understanding of the different cultures. Understanding how people resolve issues in the workplace is also very important because conflict will always coexist, regardless of the work environment the organization has.

This is a very fascinating video. I thought the Eiffel tower MNC was interesting. It sounds very dated in the modern era. However, there are many European countries that still us it such as Denmark, Germany, and Netherlands.

When running a MNC the knowledge of culture is imperative for decision making in international business. You need to be aware of the culture of your competitors or suppliers to effectively communicate. Communication and learning is the key to success.

What's interesting about this to me is the numerous different kinds of organizational cultures that can emerge as variations and combinations of the "big four"- one can use the chart to see where nearly any company falls in between Family and Eiffel Tower cultures, Incubator and Family cultures, Incubator and Guided Missile cultures, and so on. It would be very interesting to plot companies on the chart over time, both to see how individual companies changed in their culture and to see how companies in general shift over the years.
