This was fun. I purchased 10 huge boxes of unknown yarn from a local thrift shop. We couldnt fit the boxes into the car. So we shut the doors and rolled the windows down and just filled the car with yarn. Probably over a thousand dollars in yarn for 100 bucks. We brought it home and it filled the living room. It took a week to sort out, classify and store but so worth it
29:45 it’s real :) sometimes polished stuff is nice, but it’s also nice to see people doing things in a way that’s more familiar to me (eclectic, not strictly color coded, a little messy but you kinda know where things are)! My standards for myself have been kinda warped by extra clean, aesthetic content, so it’s honestly really nice to see lol
I just organized all of my yarn too! It’s in a couple different spots in my apartment. I keep it organized by weight and fiber. I also love that you can unravel your knitting and just keep reusing the yarn forever, definitely something really cool about knitting! 👹
Finally someone whose stash is more messy than mine! My main problem is that when I restarted knitting about 6 years ago I just bought a lot of random stuff, especially if it was cheap. Now I've moved on because I came to the view that I didn't want to put my time and effort into garments made of crappy yarn that I'd never wear. So I have a second collection of really good yarn and I don't know what to do with the first stash so it just sits there taking space.
As an organized in a disorganised way person (really, you should see the state that my room is in at the moment... ugh), one thing I've learned : never try to clean up anything when you are tired, you are just gonna shove the mess around another way than originally. Currently, all of my yarn is is card box... on the floor... and I was planning on going through some whit a few projects I have in mind but... I just placed an order to receive some (a lot) more so... I don't where to put. I literally don't have the space... 👹
👺 I did this at the beginning of summer. Don't worry. I keep finding more. Also been knitting longer so it's more horrifying. 😆 It always feels chaotic. But, if this works for you it makes it much easier to find things for projects. Even sorting by type helps a ton.
I had my yarn all organized in an excel spreadsheet a few years ago, but I haven’t kept up with it 🙈 I want to reorganize again so I can keep better track of my stash so I can use it up!
my stash use to look like this lol. this video makes me realize how far i have come in using things up. you have some really cool hand dyeds! and i love that neon green and black brioche.. i have got to do a goth project with that color combo. yes, the eclectic chaos vibe is a very good thing. make what you love! 👹👹👹
I have trouble focusing ! I love that excuse and I’m going to use it . Do some yarn bombing and show everyone how creative you are share the love. You will get overwhelmed with all of this … not finish it…go and have some Cappo which will hopefully revive you. If that doesn’t work, just shut the door, pretend it’s not there and sit down and do some knitting and relax. If you haven’t finished it all today tomorrow is another day so don’t worry. Anix
They're are good videos on RU-vid for burn testing yarns safely to find out what they are made of. ❤️ 👿 My stash... Was scattered much like yours but I'm getting it into boxes with letters on them and organizing them in Ravelry with their box designation. Pictures and all. I'm enjoying it.
I have one large bag of yarn and only buy more when the bag is half empty. I only buy yarn from charity shops or poundland to make pet blankets for my local blue cross animal rescue centre
I'm so ready to move out of this apartment into my townhouse because once I am finally able to get through all my yarn & actually SEE what I have I KNOW it's going to be a doozy. Lol 👹
I feel the same way. It’s like. First time. But why I do this to myself. Story just had surgery gal. Bladder. But I didn’t expect a four storage container and three whole bagels of yarn balls. Eep. I’ll sleep well when I get to sleep i an hour or so. Any tips would Be wonderful
i wish you'd make an effort to remember the names of yarns, projects, and colorways, and an effort to pronounce things correctly :( for all of your videos i mean, not just this one. it's not disorganized in a cute way; as a viewer it's more frustrating.
