Have you ever wondered why the gas station has “unleaded fuel” but there isn’t a “leaded” option? The answer has to do with a chemical called tetraethyl lead, which is an organometallic compound, or an organic compound with a carbon-metal bond. In this episode of Crash Course Organic Chemistry, we’ll learn all about organometallic compounds, including what they are and what kind of reactions we see them in. But beware! This class of compounds may be super useful, but also has a dark side.

I actually didn't realize it was so recent that lead was fully phased out of auto fuel. I thought it was 1973, but maybe that's just when unleaded began to be sold.

I wonder if this polarized bond (MG+ C-) could be exploited on a semiconductor to control the flow of photons via the directional nature of the electrons...this setup has similarities to a diode that I see....at a quantum level photons are transmitted via the electrons...

I think "Unleaded" is just now a way to differentiate it from Diesel. Which actually doesn't have lead, but here we are.
