Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an excellent return to this bright and beautiful open-world platformer, with an affecting story to bolster the white-knuckle challenge. #ign
Hey everyone! This review covers Ori and the Will of the Wisps on the PC. Since Microsoft is releasing a day one patch to fix some stability issues on the Xbox One version, we'll test out that version as soon as we can and update accordingly. Until then, please enjoy the review! - Brandin
Could someone tell me if I'll be able to play the game in 1080p with 60 fps with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500u vega 8 laptop? I pre-ordered it 2 days ago but now I'm a bit curious cause there's some performance issues even on the Xbox one x 🤔
@@swizzywaffles2478 I think you can play it.. The first one was very well optimized and i've played it with all graphics at max and 60 fps on a low spec laptop with I3 5005u, 4gb of ram and intel hd graphics card :) It's a beautiful game :) And from what i've seen they are using the same engine.. Just the gameplay has changed, but the graphics are the same..
If you haven't played the first one, do it. The art style is near-identical to this game and it's probably the most beautiful game I have ever experienced.
@@elanell2800 I just bought for switch yesterday and fell in Love immediately. But I have this huge problem of wanting to play this game too and find myself without an Xbox 😭. Can this game run on mi dell laptop? 8gb of ram, windows 10 😭 I desperately want to play it but I don't have an Xbox one.
@@ito3308 it doesn't require that powerful of a pc, my graphics card is only $110 and it can handle it at 1080p, max settings, at 60 fps. One huge advantage of hand-drawn games are that they are probably the best looking games while also being one of the lightest types to run.
@@DanFarrell98 That's the thing if we go by what he says its a 10.

Not only a masterpiece, but most probably the greatest platformer ever made. This is one for the history books, and I can't imagine a better game releasing this year.
We are living in a time when small company and inde games are way way better , artistic and consumer friendly than those AAA games( except games from few companies ) . Thanks for 1k likes .
Ori is not indie (Microsoft owns it) and it was not made by a small company either. Moon Studios had 80 devs working on Ori 2. I agree with your premisse tho.
@@alexcla9445 Thank you for the info , I didn't knew that Billy G is behind it 😆😆 Well I guess 80 devs is not a huge number compared to, (for example) the team of Modern Warfare . 🙂
@@rickbhattacharya2334 It's not a huge team like the Halo team, but it's way more than what indie games can afford. I mean, look at the graphics. It's not a budget game at all.
Damn it looks great, anticipation is killing me. I've played the first one at least 5 times. The first one was a 10/10 for me and this looks like it may be an 11.
As in all of the Ori videos, I implore viewers to look up the channel of Gareth Cocker, the composer of Ori's music. He deserves all the recognition that comes his way.
@@SpartanChief2277 lol even small indie studios are making side scrlling platformers.. these games are a million miles away from modern gaming. MS need much bigger "growth" than this level of game
I am very much looking forward to this game. I would recommend this game to anyone, including the first game Ori and the Blind Forest. The atmosphere, the score, the gameplay are fantastic!
@@ThePCDealer if you want something similar that has a looser grip on the heart strings, check out Dust: An Elysian Tale, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and Yoku's Island Express. They aren't full-on Metroidvanias like this or Hollow Knight, but they're in the same vein and are great games. Yoku's is very unique in that it mixes Metroidvania style gameplay with pinball mechanics. Kinda like Casino Night zones in old Sonic games, if you're familiar. Also, Rayman Legends is fantastic.
@@ThePCDealer Keep your chin up. There are lots of people who go through what you're going through, and games can be a big help. Coincidentally, I played the first Ori at a low point and it helped take my mind off things. It's beautiful, you need to concentrate at all times, and it's not bleak.
ive played so many games in my life, and new games just feels like, ugh this is too expected, the story line, things you need to do, the quest... but Ori and the will of the wisps, made me feel like im back in the 90s when video games are so interesting and and fun.. and it brings back the meaning to time flies by when you're having fun.. idc what ign scores it, but Im sure me and thousands out there gives this game a 10/10!
I couldn't play it for the rest of the day it hit me that hard. But I had to finish the story. I still cry every time I do that sidequest and every time I finish (sad ending as well IMO).
One of the best reviews ever. Describing the areas with great linguistic terminology, e.g. “Bug infested burrows choked in lethal darkness”. Love this game so much!
10/10. For a platformer, I'd call this game perfect. Solid story, beautiful graphics, beautiful soundtrack, liberating and crisp movement and combatechanics, fun boss fights, challenging obstacles. This game nails it from start to finish. For what it is, it's perfect.
Why do you all judge quality of platformers based on difficulty? Spyro, LittleBigPlanet, Shovel Knight, Mario 64 and Mario Odyssey are amazing af and they're easy.
Believe it's all I can think about but I don't have an Xbox one, if they just release this game on the switch like they did with the first one 😭🙏🏼. Can this game run on mi dell laptop? 8gb of ram, windows 10 😭 I desperately want to play it but I don't have an Xbox one.
Yeah with Hellblade 2 Avowed Fable Everwild State of decay 3 Stalker 2 Forza motersport That initiative Game(Perfect dark maybe) Halo infinite(I hope it ends up getting better) Project mara
What is most pleasing about the reviews is that it sounds like they've fixed the one element of the first game that was below-par: the combat. Everything in the first game was brilliant, but the combat was pretty unsatisfying. And Game Pass? That subscription has saved me SO much money it's ridiculous.
Ori and the blind forest was one of my favorite game of ALL TIME, I'm so glad that Moon Studio puts their hearts into this and make an even better sequel, which is extremely rare nowaday.
@@TheDuckClock RU-vid should display the number of dislikes for comments too. I guess they are just trying to protect the self esteem of people like you. If this were reddit, you would be downvoted to oblivion.
Well sit tight brother you gonna have to wait many many years for that lmao Microsoft bought moon studios and there is no switch port this time they only have contract for the first game not a second since Microsoft owns them now they can’t port any games 😊
@@w3r0ification Microsoft already owned Ori and the Blind Forest a year before its release. The reason why it came to Switch is because Microsoft allowed. They could very well do it again as they clearly dont see Switch as a rival in the market.
Hey IGN Care to explain why this game is a 9 and Celeste is a 10? Both are probably the best platformers in recent years so I'm surprised they're not on pair.
Because corny teenage anxiety plot, missing textures constantly on a 4 gig machine, and a few other problems worth a 10. Ori is also in a different genre.
Yea. Sometimes we just gotta remember these are just people. Some people like some games better than others. We really just need to decide for ourselfs rather a games worth our money. Not some guy on the internet with different tastes from us.
Of all the games I've downloaded to give a whirl on my new Series X, this is the one I can't seem to put down. Perfect game and shows off how beautiful a game can be.
Just finished this gorgeous game. It's a solid 9.5 / 10. The only reason why it doesn't get 10/10 is because Hollow Knight exist. Otherwise it's a must play for metroid vania veteran or first-timer.
First game was highly enjoyable, so at least I’ll be able to pick this up on PC. No other games on my radar until May now, so this will have to keep me going.
I stopped playing Ori & The Will Of The Wisps on release because of frame rate issues on XboxOne X , but thankfully today 7/4/2020 a patch is downloading right now cannot wait to start playing again.
@@luisalbertocalleparra6130 it’s really not, it’s a step forward for ori but hollow knight really is a far better game. It’s the reason why a game backed by Microsoft has a smaller concurrent player base and community then a game released prior.
I just came to see the final score out of curiosity and when i clicked towards the end the thumbnail stopped at 6 (seeing how you do that rolling number score thingy) and i was prepared to unleash hell.
Are you kidding me a 9?,come on IGN,Gameinformer gave it a 9.5 ffs,the first game was incredibly amazing and this one looks to be even better so a 9 is a weak score by you guys when this game obviously is a 9.5 or higher
This game made me buy an Xbox One! I tried playing it on my computer but it just wasn't strong enough. I don't regret it, aside from Doom Eternal this was my most anticipated game of the year! Now I have an Xbox One, it's pretty cool
Alex CLA i agree crackdown was just a hot mess garbage it could be better doe if they recreate it give it better graphics new world better fighting system just reboot it.
This game robs itself of a 10/10 by being frustratingly difficult at times and adding in a bunch of pointless fetch quests that have no place in the game.
The first game was absolutely phenomenal and the new one just blows me away with the art, the music and definitely the combat. I cannot wait to buy the game!
The thing with xbox one exclusive games is that they were not bad by any means.....the problem was and still is that there's too little of them.....at this particular time the Xbox one as a console is a fantastic one with all it's services and a great simple ui.....if they manage to give us more exclusive games on this level combined with an amazing console like I'm sure the series x will be success is unavoidable...
Yeah, I don't think they are always willing to wait for patches in order to release a review. Some games get utterly destroyed because of the bugs they have at launch.
While I'm in no rush to get an Xbox and don't game on pc. Honestly got a huge growing backlog already. Have to admit this game just seems gorgeous overall. Enjoy it people and while I'm not too bothered myself at least atm hope this game sells well.
