My first automatic watch is an Orient 3 star my dad use to wear back on the 80s, exactly the silver dial model showed here. It still works perfectly. Classic, retro, reliable, elegant, cheap.
I think the most important detail you missed out when introducing these amazing time pieces and calling them nothing tremendous and enter level is there fact that orient are one of the very few watch companies that make everything in house. The quality of the mechanics are top grade unlike many other watch brands that charge four times the price such as Seiko. That was disappointing. Such an underrated make of watch.
@@John-mf6ky actually the 3 companies who owned Seiko owned Orient and Lorus but the companies are very independent with an exception of same Seiko movements being used by all 3 so no put technically yes.
I agree they’re under appreciated but I guess the brand name/value comes into play as well. For example you won’t really complain if Mercedes sells a car with the same spec more expensive than Volkswagen.
When I was a kid my dad, my uncles & many other relatives had these type of Orient Tristars& Seiko 5s. This is why I love them more, brings back memories.
How does Orient do it ? Such beautiful well made watches for under $100, not to mention such pride in quality and workmanship ! I do believe I will acquire one of these beauties.
I had been watching this channel for a bit and felt good about the fact that after I discovered TGV he list Long Island Watch as one of his trusted merchants!
I have it and using it 27 years already without repair. I love this watch and i not going to change to other. It goes like ... watch. :D I love my Orient ***
Had this and it was amazing!! Worked from 1991 to 2014 without any service, being dropped on ground, concrete and I never had a problem with them!! Literally it’s a TANK IN WATCH WORLD!! Small but stunning and working horse!!! Recommend to anyone who wants mechanical watches !!
I saw these watches a few days ago on Amazon UK priced at £69.99 Sterling and was impressed with the look of the last one in your video and so have placed the order for it which should arrive any day now. After seeing the watch displayed on your wrist I am glad I made the right choice. This will be my first Orient purchase as they dont seem widely available in jewellers in the UK. I do also own a Seiko 5 which I have had for about 15 years and it is still running perfectly. Thankyou for your review of the Orient 3 star I am sure I will enjoy wearing mine when it arrives.
@@kasparaspadvelskis2652 they are assembled in China, so what? That's how it can be cheaper. A *LOT* of things are made there. If you really want to apply your logic then don't wear your clothes, be naked all the time because guess what, probably ~95% of them were made in China.
I bought one while staying on holidays in Brazil, they are cheap there because they are not imported but made in Manaus, Amazonia. I sold it only because I chose a champagne-golden dial model and its readibility was not great, I prefer black with white arrows.
As a brazilian, I can tell you that the ones that are made here lack of the quality of the ones that are made elsewhere. The dial is not so beautiful as, for example, the green one Marc shows here and the day of the month does not align properly with the day of the week. I have one just like the first one of the video which was fabricated elsewhere and I compared to one maded in Brazil. Sadly, very different quality.
Orient are fantastic watches superb value very well made dependable, durable and fantastic attention to detail if your looking for any of the above get one, if you want to get into mechanical watches get one they really ars superb.
I bought the green dial. Would have loved to buy from you, but almost all your affordable seiko 5 and orient 3's were out of stock along with a ton of others.
Wow, they just completely discontinued this line at the beginning of 2024! Now I can't trust most places that seem to sell these. I don't want to get a frankenwatch.
Hi Marc, I just received a blue dial tristar from LI Watch - the model that is similar to the green one at the beginning of the video. What a great timepiece for the money! I have a narrow wrist, and after getting the bracelet adjusted, it's perfect! I think I'll buy another tristar!
I have the green one I bought for $65. I was shocked at just how nice these watches are. I went ahead and bought an Orient Raven II (PVD-coated diver) from Long Island Watches after seeing them pitched so much on the Urban Gentry. Overall, I am truly impressed by Orient. I am new to the world of Seiko and Orient, but I feel like a sucker having spent so much money on Tissot, Victorinox and others over the years.
Absolutely fantastic. I've been keeping an eye out for videos of the Orient 3 star for ages now, probably years. I've been on the fence because I wasn't sure how they would fit, I had a Seiko 5 a while back that didn't quite look right. There's maybe one other good review on youtube and it doesn't have a wrist shot. This video is fantastic, shows multiple models and a wrist shot. I think you've convinced me to buy finally. My only request would be to show a 3 star that has the faceted crystal which I've seen for about 65 dollars on ebay. But still, bravo.
Unkillable watch. Had mine for 14 years now, only basic maintenance every 2 years. The watch guy who does the maintenance got it to + 10 seconds / day precision, which I think is pretty awesome for a dirt cheap watch. The quality is the same or better than in a similarly priced Seiko 5, except for the metal bands, which is where Orient do their cost-cutting. The bands aren't bad, quality-wise, it's just that they are folded-links, which makes the watch top-heavy.
Would you mind explaining why you and some others wear wattches on both wrists? Personally if i saw someone with double watches my thought would be "what a goober" lol
J Ownbey log tradition I believe. I am not a member of any lodge or fraternity. Just a free man myself. I don’t see anything wrong with them though. Just ain’t my gig.
Flea markets overseas? WTF! How about watch stores in overseas Malls or on posters in Airports more like it? They used to be the major competitor to Citizen in the 80's but with better styling.
I've got the pink-dialed version of the green-dialed one! I only wish that they'd not have the button for the day-change, and just made it date only, it just struck me as being a tad silly, as 19mm lug-width is.
do you still have the watch.. avilable withe green and square hour markers EM6Q00EN ?? possibly kicking around, i like the red faced thats in stock but really into the green can you let me know ?
Hi Mark, just a quick thank you for having a very full line from Orient. In the future, will you be adding the Royal Orient to the line up? Again, great videos and keep up the good work.
My orient is like really old it's Orient crystal 21 jewles/stainless steel/water proof... it was made in 1950/60...can u tell me how much would it be if i were to sell it??? Tnx bud.
I need a green dial in my lineup. Is that #EM6Q00FF on your website? What's the difference between #EM6Q00EN and #EM6Q00FF? Do you think you could include combination of watch straps in your videos? I realise there's so many variations but maybe pick your fav alternate strap combo on a watch. Great video anyhow.
Hello - here is the FF: www.longislandwatch.com/Orient_EM6Q00FF_Green_Dial_Watch_p/em6q00ff.htm The difference between the two is the quality of the green (the EN is more vibrant) and the EN also has goldtone markers. Straps comment noted for a future vid. Thanks!
I got mine to within about 8 seconds so far. I'm also restoring an older one with the same cal. 469 movement, I've replaced the balance-wheel and hair-spring because the watch/movement was "as-is" and was missing the roller-jewel etc.
