I have this version. Mines pretty accurate at about + 3 - 4 seconds a day. I believe the movement is decorated and it's a shame it can't be seen. Bezel not so great with a slight misalignment which is surprising for their more expensive line but I can live with that. The clasp and bracelet are high quality despite the pressed inner. I bought it as it just looks different to other divers out there and I love the brand. The step up in quality is also obvious when alongside my mini Triton and the packaging also reflects this.
Hidden gem indeed, i have it on my wrist right now. “Blue smurf”… will never part with it. No other watch does for me what this star does. That is why it is my only watch i wear.
I owned this watch. An miss it every day. I owned the pepsi bezel blue dial. This watch is a Gem. It is up there with swiss brands. The only complaint was the bezel action which you mentioned. The fit an finish on the case is beautiful an perfect. The dial is like no other. The lume is fantastic. This watch will age beautifully. I destroyed mine by accident. But i did salvage an opened up the watch an kept the dial an movement. I put it in a movement holder an it sits in a wooden box with two others. From time to time i go look at it. The watch has a really nice movement inside. An its decorated. Maybe one day i can buy another if prices dont go up.
Second comment on this video. Since 2 months ago. I came back to watch this video on this orient star diver. I like i stated before i miss it badly still. Im going to try to buy it again. Prices have gone up with some. But this orient star is a gem. Orient star is more known an wanted these days. Orient star makes high quality watches an some of their models are going for much more. One day orient watches will be higher in price an more competition to get their watches. I wear a orient star heritage every single day an night. I adore the watch. Always will. Its a master piece from orient. I have it on a engineer bracelet. But i want to add the orient star diver next to it. An own that watch once again. I want the blue version. Anyways thats a watch you can be proud of to pass onto your kid one day......
I have the exact same watch and think it is very nice . The bezel on mine is a bit " light weight" as well and mine runs about +12 sec. fast. I like the fit and finish and for me it is a keeper.
Great video! How did you take off the bezel? I think mine has the same problem, it moves too easily, on the Orient site I see that the factory called back these watches for service maybe because the bezels were put in not well. Anyway I love mine and didn't see a beautiful green dial like this anywhere, so I am glad to have one.
The bezel comes off like most watches in this range it just compressed fit so you need some thin/strong to stick under and just pop it off. Then once off there is spring. Just bend the spring to create more pressure which then made bezel feel much stiffer and better.
@@silvercornuto777 Hey silvercornuto, No I didn't buy one after all. I have to slay my watch buying demons - I have too many watches and I've decided that I really don't need another one! It looks like a nice one though, I'm glad you're happy with it. I have a good seiko watch I'm very happy with and I've decided this is my watch for life.
@@supermash1 This orient star diver is the only watch i wear or want or need. Its my perfect watch. Which seiko model are you reffering too?. As your only watch for life?.
@@Crownof12stars I like my seiko 62 mas diver, model SBDC051. I think it's the last watch I will spend over $1K on. I was recently in Singapore and I saw this Orient Star diver, it is nice but I like my seiko more. I have a pepsi bezel orient kamasu and I like it, it is a great watch for the price. I wish I would have bought a regular blue dial kamasu though.
Hey, I'm looking to get one of these but would like to ask which color you think looks best. Contemplating which color to get; green easily looks the best in the photos but things could be different in person.
Think depends on what you already have. I have blue and black watches already so I sought this one out specially for the green. However I like the blue version with the gold lettering probably the best if I didn't already have blue. Almost bought both.
@@RandoRaf Thanks for the quick reply! Most of my watches are black including my skx, so while I just primarily want add to the collection with an orient star, it would be nice to get something other than black. Guess I'll have to hurry, green ones are pretty scarce nowadays
I own the pepsi version and there's A lot to like. Especially its unusual divewatch design. It's rare and it stands out. However, I have a massive issue with the movement. It's more or less accurate But it accelerates wildly when I walk. Roughly twelve seconds fast per day If I keep it on a desk. But when I walk, it goes three seconds fast per hour. I opened the case back and regulated the movement. It became even more accurate. Now, roughly 3 to 4 seconds fast per day. But as usual, when I walk, it Goes three seconds fast per hour of walk. I'm not sure if it's because it's overwound or what. It's very frustrating and i'm worried about this movement. I'm worried there might be a defect or something. I own three seikos and six orients in addition to a mido and a certina. And yet, I have never encountered such a behavior from any mechanical movement. Have you had such experience?
I agree, i own the kamasu, an this star. Both in blue models. The blue are very close, but, theres a slight difference in color. I am selling my kamasu as the star diver is the only watch i wear. Even though the kamasu is a amazing watch, the star is my love. I go no where without her. Never will……. Love you baby….❤
Im not crazy for ceramic. I do not think ceramic fits every single watch. Aluminium ages with the stainless case an dial beautifully. Btw: i purchased this watch the pepsi bezel an am wearing it on my wrist since. I wanted the ALL blue..... But wasnt the case... But am very happy.
I think there are a couple more cons to this watch than you mention. I love orient, don't get me wrong, I have 5 of their watches, but they aren't without some cons. first, a watch that costs more than $500 should have accuracy better than -15/+25. Yes, you can get lucky and have one that is more accurate than that, but its a bit of a luck of hte draw with them if you will get one that actually ends up being really accurate. There are too many good sellita and eta based watches at that price point to justify an orient star (and I do have an RE-AY0003S which is probably my favorite dial - its just got no lume and the accuracy isn't better than their $250~ watches). the second is the lume. this isn't just an orient problem - it seems like watchmakers like to assert that a fancy more expensive watch should have that blueish lume and the lume should not last long, whereas the kamasu lume at much cheaper is more than ten times better. Once you are over the $1k price point you should start looking at things like Ball or Grand Seiko instead, in my opinion.
The accuracy is much better than -15 - plus 25 on the star diver. An i own both the watches you have stated. Kamasu an this star diver. I own both in blue versions. The kamasu had good lume, but the lume on the star diver mountains over it. The lume on the star is much brighter an last much longer. Good lume on kamasu, excellent lume on star. The star diver has no flaws. It is perfect. Kamasu, is levels below this excellent japanese power house of a watch. Thats why i wear only my star, an do not kamasu. An i feel bad saying that. Because the kamasu is a really good quality watch.
@@Crownof12stars Since I have made my previous comment I have bought this watch as I found a great deal for it. First of all, the kamasu has amazing lume, it was my best lume before I got this one, but you are right, this one has the best lume, and its not even close. Never seen anything like it, I was amazed. second - The accuracy is a bit like I stated - its very inconsistent as to whether the one you get wil be accurate. Mine is +10 to +15 a day, I was very sad by this as I got lucky with my kamasu being +1/-1 on most days. I think if I open it up and manually regulate it I will get much better results, but I am a little scared to do so.
subjective but i really dont like this new rounded look design of Orient star divers . the green and gold is nice but the design asthetics dont appeal to me due to the rounded markers and bezel markings.
