In this video, I review José Meeusen's new book, "Origami Connected". It includes diagrams for over 37 of José's original modular, geometric, and representational designs.

Congratulations to José and everyone else involved in making this book a reality! Specifically Ali Bahmani, Ilan Garibi, John Farrell, and all of my origami friends-- you did a great job. I know how important creating this book was to José, so it makes me happy to finally have a physical copy of it.

I purchased the book immediately upon Jose telling me that she had written it. A little backstory here. I was new to origami and new to Instagram. I am now 69 and was not really serious about origami but wanted to find a few simple models to use as Christmas ornaments. My daughter set up my Instagram account and I started scrolling through. After I had the basics of IG down, I spent a lot of time scrolling through different channels and stumbled upon Mariela Recinos. I started folding following her YT channel and I found your channel at the same time. After folding a couple of Jose's model I went to her IG channel, subscribed and went through her posts. I stumbled across the model, "The Family Frame". I loved it because I am also interested in genealogy and thought it would be great to make the frames to group the families in my family tree. I asked Jose if she had a tutorial, crease pattern or diagram. She told me she did not. A few years have gone by and I have gone back to that post several times and have left messages telling her that this is my favorite model ever!! Sometime in August she let me know that she was getting ready to publish a book and had decided to include the model. Hallelujah!! Then I only had to worry about whether I could figure out how to fold it. I am not an intuitive folder. I cannot reverse engineer anything. I have only ever been able to follow a diagram a couple of times and they were both Francesco Guanieri models. I won't be the one developing new models. I just don't have a brain that works that way so I am a slave to the generosity of others and their talents/tutorials. The origami community on IG have been super warm and helpful to me. I didn't have to worry though as the diagrams were so easy to follow and after a tiny hiccup, I got the model pretty easily. I am so happy. Thank you for the review and I am happy to know that you and Ms.Meeusen are friends. I really love your tutorials and want to fold more. Hope you continue to post videos. Deborah

Great video review Evan! I'm thrilled to have been asked to write a review for the BOS magazine. The designs, folding sequences, layout and presentation are brilliant. One of my favourites in the book is Starring Roses too!

This is so interesting! I’ll definitely take a look at this book. I’ve been doing origami for over 30 years and modular, geometric origami is my favourite
