How to make the Flexiball, designed by Jorge Pardo
Presented here by Jo Nakashima with permission of the creator
Difficulty level: low intermediate
This model requires 60 (!!!) units. Fold it with your friends (all of them)!
Each module is easy to make but you'll need a lot of patience to build so many and also to assembly it. When finished, it is very stable.

Making the pieces is really simple, but there are just a ton. Putting them together is easy to, and the flexiball doesn't fall apart! This model is super cool, and makes fantastic christmas presents for my friends and family! (I'm Eleven)

Bernie Sanders So the cost of a present is the only thing that matters? Gifts should be received with the same amount of appreciation no matter the cost. This takes time and patience, and I would love a gift like this from anyone regardless of their age. I sure wouldn't spend hours making something like this I barely cared about. But that kid stating his age is still irrelevant.

I've remember I'm on 5th grade that I made that thing on a sticky notes and its kinda hard. 60 pieces of sticky notes (actually it's 59 because of out of sticky notes. I took a piece of bond paper for the final touch) and its very very cool. but it can be crumbled if you put it on your bag. so hard to make it again. if someone want to do this, pls make sure that dont make a crease about the center of that piece cuz its so weak if you try bond papers. just make sure that you try kami paper or construction paper or other papers that really strong and easy to fold. and the second one: have your friends doing this cuz I spent 5 -9 days for this origami. have fun!

This model was my first attempt at modular origami and I entertained myself for hours of night class with it. I've been itching to fold something simple yet fun for a while, and this will satisfy it immensely.

What I found worked is simply taking a regular piece of origami paper (5 7/8" x 5 7/8") and dividing that into 4 equal square (and each square will come out to be 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm). Hope this helps

I made two models for my two daughters. what came out really facinated my girls but its very time consuming and requires lot of patience. one tip for new comers which i came up with is that while joining modules each will attach to 2 arms each of all five modules this makes it easy to join without messing up the design

This is a good spare time project, if you have like 4-5 minutes free a few times a day you can get maybe 6 of the pieces done each time. Its hard to stay focused to make this so just be patient with it and make al the pieces first before assembling it, otherwise you might want to give up seeing it half done..

no no u need 60 pieces of square, just divide 7.5 a4 sheets to 8 squares(fold in half and make 2 squares, then make each 1 4) Thanks

actually, a4 just means 5 x 4 so you can get 20 squares from 1 sheet you need 3 sheets

I made mine with sticky notes it looked okay but it was more fiddleeeey because it was sticky. I also think whichever Japanese or Chinese person who invented origami is a fuckin genius.

im probably very late haha, but to get rid of the sticky stuff of a sticky note all you need to do is rub it off with an eraser

Very interesting ! i succeeded to finish it after watching this video about 20 times ! The instructions from 6:20 min. to the end are not so clear, so i had to download it to my PC, and only after watching frame after frame I could finish it. It is really great ! Thank you.

i was really gonna make it because the finished ball looks amazing and i love the creativity of origami besides i have lived in Japan for such a long time, but then when i read 1 module finished make 60 , i just though ,...Nah i don't like repetitive work , but i commend you on your patience , this is really cool .

This might take a while to make but I will be impressed by the results and while reading the comments I saw many who didn't even try just because it is 60 pieces. I don't know if it is because they don't have time or if they are just lazy. Thanks for the video even though I am not done yet.
