The Origin Effects DCX Boost takes a beloved UA 610 studio preamp and reimagines it as a unique Tone Shaper and Drive for guitar, complete with Origin’s Adaptive Circuitry for dynamic high-end sculpting.
In EQ mode, the active Low and High Freq controls are tailored for a guitar’s range which allows you to cut or boost even at extreme settings without overloading your signal or producing harsh results. This mode also provides up to 24dB of clean boost when Output is high and Drive set low. While is EQ mode, the Voice selects 3 different levels of Adaptive Circuitry. This means the harder the pedal is pushed, the more treble is rolled off, providing both smooth overdriven sounds and sparkling cleans by simply backing off your attack or guitar’s volume knob.
In OD mode, the gain is pumped up and the Adaptive mode disabled. Here, you still get Low and High controls and a choice of 3 static voices to tame the high end.
It’s here where you’ll notice this studio pre turned overdrive providing a new palette of overtones, dynamic response, and even fuzzy textures with all knobs cranked.
