The rule for European cities is as follows: If it has more than 100 inhabitants there is a town in the US with the same name. Most likely even several. Probably with a "New" in front of them.

I mean we do have a lot of European city names sure, but have you seen the plethora of native names we have? Hell even a good chunk of our states names are of native origin, just to reference the meme there Ohio and Idaho are two good examples of that fact. It also highly amusing to hear them try and pronounce them to, like Thonotosassa, Pottawatomie, Pemigewasset, Tuscarawas, Connoquenessing, Quittapahilla, Quonochontaug etc.
