MOST of Denmark was liberated on May 5th... the German commander of the island of Bornholm didn't surrender to the allies until May 9th because the terms was that all Germans in Denmark had surrendered to Montgomery and the island of Bornholm was on the Soviet side of the divide. Also the island was defacto occupied by the Soviet army for a long time (almost a full year) before it was released to the Danes.
