Orioles best players are every bit as good as the Yankees best players - Burns, Henderson, Rutschman - O's not just better in June but for the last year and a half.
@@bajaaamayoogeee6531 How is that an overreaction? Burnes is a former Cy Young winner and Henderson/Rutschman are former number one overall prospects. They have elite pedigree the same as Cole/Judge/Soto.
@@wieters1275Henderson and Rutschman are number one overall prospects so that means they have the same elite pedigree as 2 of the best hitters of the last decade? One of them being a former MVP in Aaron Judge? (probably 2 this year) Neither have hit that level yet, not even close. Get a clue.
@@MosesMal0n3 Rutschman/Henderson actually have better pedigrees than Judge/Soto ever did. That doesn't mean they'll reach the same highs or be able to sustain their performance, but pedigree is backwards looking. Rutschman was the best player in college/number one pick in the draft, number one overall prospect in the minors, and now the best player at the most important position in the majors. Henderson was the number one overall prospect and now has a higher WAR than Judge and Soto at 22 years old. They literally couldn't have stronger pedigrees.
Yep. When you figure that the Orioles used their 5,6, and 7th best pitchers and still won 2 of 3 it's pretty evident. Also, they are more of a complete team - most of the Orioles came up together and have great chemistry. Also, seems to be mentally tougher. They most likely will win the season series and tiebreakers now that they have won 5 of 7.
i heard some stat that O's have not lost a division series since brooks was at 3rd ! no seriously i think they just set the all time record with yesterdays win ?
@@brewcrew5854 With 14 teams making the playoffs nowadays, the entire 162 game schedule is now the rough equivalent of Spring Training. Look at Baltimore and Atlanta going down meekly last year.
there is a huge difference between a team that wins because they hit tons of homers against weak pitching...and trying to beat a TEAM..that hits runs fields and pitches,,,
With 14 teams making the playoffs nowadays, the entire 162 game schedule is now the rough equivalent of Spring Training. Look at Baltimore and Atlanta going down meekly last year.
boone is not and will not ever be a good manager...he responds out of fear ...you can see him wondering if the yankee brass will be upset with him for every decision he makes
Yankees are not a World Series team right now. They've obviously got the resources to (potentially) bridge the gap but they won't be a championship team without addressing some gaping holes. And no, signing flotsam like Tim Hill isn't going to help.
every single yankee fan watches the game waiting to see a home run....but a real TEAM hits fields and pitches....with every player contributing...cashless hasnt put a real TEAM together in 15 years
I get it that you are from New York and a Yankee homer. But Corbin Burnes is EVERY bit as good as Gerrit Cole AND 4 Years younger. A simple Google search will show you that Cole has NEVER had a season as good as Burnes is having this year. They both have won Cy Young awards. If you want to argue that Soto and Judge are better hitters than anyone on the O's that's fine. But the problem with the Yankees is that beyond them their offense is thin. They only have 3 other good/decentish hitters (Volpe, Stanton, Verdugo). Look at what the O's have and that is not to mention THREE top 20 prospects sitting at AAA. The Orioles lineup currently is 7 deep (because Mullins hasn't hit until the Yankees series) not 5 deep like the Yankees.
I like Burns, but I disagree that he's in the same league as Cole. Cole should have 2 Cy Youngs, he lost to Verlander in 2019 because Verlander had a ridiculous year. Wheeler should have won the Cy Young in 2021, he had the better year. I agree that the O's have more depth in their lineup. The Yankees NEED to get more consistent production from 6-9.
Put the Rice in at 1st and leave him alone, enough of the damm musical chairs with the kids, same with Wells, Trevino has been exposed finally, surprised it didn't happen earlier, now im thinking about do the same with Cabrera at 3rd, make a youth movement, can't hurt .
I'd rather Rice and Cabrera get the playing time over slow old bats like Rizzo and Lemahieu. But they need to get at least one more consistent bat at either 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
The Orioles have plenty of good contact hitting left handed pitchers and good contact right handed hitters 1996 Yankees like. The Yankees are 1996 Juan Gonzalez lineup like.
I sincerely appreciate your honesty and candor. Been an orioles fan all my life, but I grew up in Yankee country North Jersey, and hearing this admission from you has been much more than a breath of fresh air. The Orioles did the same thing to Zack wheeler a few days ago and despite doing it to two aces in a game 3 situation rubber match, everyone in mainstream media claims the pitchers didn’t have their stuff and it was their fault. As if to say the White Sox would have had the same success on this day. Or that the 10 runs driven in against the relief pitchers of NY didn’t happen. Absolutely no one wants to talk about how we got to Holmes in a big way both days. Even in the 4-2 game, how many at-him balls did we hit? How many hard hit balls total? They were all signs of what was to come, the homer was just the loudest sign, but it would seem no one heard it. I think Cole having incredible location and some generous calls helped a lot, but I think even he was in trouble in the 5th. Baseball Gods wouldn’t have given him that run if it wasn’t supposed to be that way. I think he got away with one. I also think that those few innings played a key role in the following day’s explosion. This team is like an avalanche every series. They start out a little slow, sometimes unlucky but even when they’re slow they will hit 1 or 2 long balls just a question of solo or weaver. Then second game we score 5-7 at least usually, usually a comeback win or some sort whether it’s them just scoring in the top of the first or us losing a lead late, or somewhere between. Point is it’s a close game and we excel in close games, never out of a game, if you’re up by 4 in the 4th and think the lead is safe you’re going to lose by a wide margin. So I’d bet 4+ is the season average roughly, and then the third game is domination. Whether it’s an early 3 run inning and an ace pitching a shut out or 17 runs, the point is, as a fan it’s all fun and games. You’re never nervous about what’s gonna happen. They answer all questions early and often. If the pitching staff can just hold together and they sign Burnes to a long deal, and lock down each major piece one at a time since the payroll has room(3rd lowest around $94 million compared to Yankees third highest $305 million?)and this team can win a lot. Like a lot a lot for a long time. So that “right now” part of the title is probably going to work its way out of these kinds of publications in the future.
@@rootofallevihow is it wishful thinking? Yankees aren’t very good without Judge. Mets are running at full strength right now and are the hottest team in baseball.
Yankees will never win a World Series with softie players manager Aaron Boone. As usual Stanton is hurt again and the Yankees will lose again in the playoffs. BTW Orioles payroll is 1/10 of the Yankees.
This reminds me of 2022 with the Yankees cruising along with the best record in baseball go to Boston for three games, lose two (I believe the last two on both occasions), and play .500 the rest of the season. The Orioles are better than the Yankees. Period.
Mike is right for now the O's are better than the NY team but that can change at a moment's notice the NY team can just go out and give a boatload of money for the guy they want from some small market team who can't say no cause they still want to be viable in the league so they gotta sell no need to try all that hard building a team when money is no object and then act like they're competing in good faith ,WHAT A GD JOKE!!
Maybe you people were watching a different series than I was, but the Orioles showed me nothing other than the fact that they’ll bully the Yankees because Boone is a coward and won’t retaliate.
Perhaps not. Baseball is going to Baseball. Look how the Orioles have been waxed by the Astros recently. Repeatedly. Also the Cardinals swept them a couple of weeks ago. It’s a long season.
If Judge was out by the HBP for 2 months plus.....the season would have been over.... Judge hitting over .300 is best hitter in the game...everything I just said is known by everyone in this galaxy. ~thank god I was here. BTW~ Verdugo needs to mature ~ he is a child~ act like you have been there before and don't incite WW3. Alex is a 6 year veteran for god's sake. I worry about Torres defense and mental prep...his confidence is so variable. Throwing errors, fielding errors, base running blunders... he should be peaking in his career at his age... but he is so weak minded.
the yankees are NOT a great team....they are a home run hitting team that wins IF their pitching holds up...baltimore IS a team...every player contributes.....the yankees CAN NOT and will not win a WS against a real team
I don’t trust Holmes but tell me the guy they can get who will replace him? Emanuel clase is not getting traded here. I’ve watched tanner Scott and mason miller give up more walk offs than Clay has in recent weeks. I just don’t see an answer we can get
Still, both guys have a better ERA+ and SO/9 than anyone in the Yankee bullpen. They need guys with high whiff rates coming out of the pen than groundball specialists.
Problem is the yankees will never tank the orloea sont care to suck for years the orioles have stocked up on top pick after top pick.. and yea i know henderson was a second rd pick
The only area the Yanks might be better is starting pitching? But as a whole the O's are better. They are younger and faster. Im sick of Gleyber and slow ass Stanton. DJ and Rizzo are showing age. Cashman cannot build a winner without the late Gene Michael and Bob Watson. For the love of god Fire Cashman and fix that hideous bullpen.
NYY have two players that are better than O's best - so what! NYY best can easily be shut down by average pitching - not good - but average! they showed that against the roid sox. Gil didn't exactly shut down the roid sox and we all know Cole can't pitch against them (never could)! I think the good teams are starting to figure him out. And i'd be worried about the roid sox because if they are in any sort of playoff against NYY - the Yanks are done! The only hope NYY have of advancing anywhere is they don't face the roid sox. They have no pitching - freakin none - none that can be trusted in the playoffs. Trashman and Boone gotta go...as soon as possibro! You know why? Cause Trashman gonna do shieeet again this year. Same shit as last year!
Wrong. They aren’t a better team than the Yankees. Orioles have to be the most overrated team I’ve ever seen. Not ONE guy hitting .300. Give me a break
Orioles swept the Rays in Tampa 4 straight. Beat the best team in the NL the Phillies 2 out of 3. And now beat the best team in the American League the Yankees 2 out of 3. Yet the Yankees and O's will play a best of 5 ALDS if everything remains the same. What a joke...
Mike: You may have two of the biggest stars but the O's have a complete team with numerous allstar caliper players, limited holes too fill, and they have the depth unlike the Yankees who have as many holes as a slice of swiss cheese. O's are a better team! O's will get stronger at Trade deadline.
Its june u oriole fans want to crown the championship rn.. its basebal u won a hundred games last year howd u guys do in the playoffs u couodnt win a game its a long season do it in october wen it counta ans then u guys get all the credit..
Sorry Mike, the Orioles are better PERIOD! Stop with RIGHT NOW crap, the Orioles are only gonna get better because they can literally go out and get anyone they want because they got prospects that everyone wants and plenty of money
Lol the orioles lost the first game. 2nd game no Aaron judge. And it takes extra innings. 1 huge game where they lose their minds is a clear cut game but the orioles are close just not better. Lol there’s no way you think the orioles are just clearing the Yankees or the field Rn.
@@scottb1945 one of those 2 literally did not have the best player. Then our Ace pitcher makes his debut. And it takes extra innings to win. The 17-5 win is deff something ya can take but it doesn’t just clear ya over the Yankees lol
I’m a die hard oriole fan, and I was born and raised in North Jersey, deep within die hard Yankee territory. It’s been a long time coming, but hearing this open and honest admission of who and what the orioles are as a team and organization, it was a divine experience for me. I do agree we are better period, but from a Yankee fan, let alone one in the Yankee media-verse, his admission is DEEP. 20,000 leagues under the sea type of deep. For the first time in my life I have deep emotional love for a Yankee broadcaster, as opposed to my usual feelings. Michael Kay and John Sterling were dart board bullseyes in my house, next to Jeffrey Maher. All jokes aside, him saying this means they know it in the Yankee clubhouse and front office, which means the real test of the year for the O’s is before the all star break on our turf. 2 more wins and we win the season series(tie breaker)so that translates to must wins for NY and if the Os come off the high and they win that series as well… That would be a real statement, he says these games shouldn’t garner reaction, those games absolutely will though because of the post season implications. But for the O’s and Yankees, the players, if this series gets repeated in the yard in front of what should be a sold-out crowd, to me, no one should expect any other kind of result when these teams go head to head. Remember, in October, you only need 2 big starting pitchers. You win all their games and you win the World Series.
Fight today so you can live tomorrow. Its more important to defend Judge than win at this point in the season. Gil was disappointing. That is the key worry, but you have Cole and time to get him right.
The Yankees were an 82-win team with a Cy Young Gerrit Cole. Teams have made adjustments to Gil and we'll see if he can make adjustments to combat that. The rest of the staff has been good but there are going to be plenty of questions raised in the next few months about those guys. The catching position has become a considerable problem, both in terms of the minimal offensive contribution and the increasingly negative impact on the pitching staff.
