I've not played Invasion yet, but I wonder if the Prosperity expansion wouldn't be improved through a couple of house rules: the first would be placing the goods face-up as normal and, second, adding carpenters based on the player count. Thematically, it would be as though each player had their own carpenter and would be individually responsible for moving them around. This would get rid of the frustrating tug-of-war aspect of it.
I wonder what the price tag of this is going to be like. That's a pretty big box. I do like solo variants to games. Cannot justify a buy with only a fraction of the game being reviewed favorably. Time will tell though. Thanks for the look inside.
+outlawlaw This might give you an idea. Around here Orleans base goes for 49.50 Euros, and Invasions (This expansion) goes for 39.50. So it won't exactly be the same but I think it might be fair to assume an equal spread in price. So this might be a bit expensive if you only care about one module.
0:43 Why would a game reviewer (of this expansion) immediately choose to ignore 3 modules of the game just because they are solo? Don't get the reasoning unless you hate solo players. (Me). That's why Dice Tower is one of the last boardgame channels I would turn to to find out about a game. Dice Tower not interested?! Then Dice Tower don't care.
There’s a variety of board game reviewers out there. Many, like Tom, don’t specifically review solo player content in a game. And there’s also some that DO review solo modes. Assuming that all game reviewers who skip over solo modes must “hate solo players” seems unreasonable to me. In any case, I’m sure you’ll find those reviewers you connect with and appreciate. I still love Dice Tower reviews but to each their own.
I do not understand solo board game players, why not play video games, read a book or solve a suduko instead? The point of board games is to play with your friends.
If I were a reviewer I wouldn't play the solo modules. You only got so much time to review a game, many you never even get to. If they aren't a solo gamer anyway, what would they be able to compare it so? It'd be like someone who's only played Monopoly reviews some hobby game. They may think that hobby game is WAY too complex when really it's medium or that the hobby game is AMAZING when fellow hobby gamers would think it was only ok. If you have nothing to compare it to, then it's gonna be skewed. How is that "hate solo players"?

It is extremely snobby to say because I play with multiple people, I think 2 player or solo is not worth it. What about all the people who don't have the luxury to go to a convention or have a large group to play with like you do Tom? Really turns me off from your reviews.
Maybe it is time for you to build a family and have your children to play with. Tom has a beautiful family and friends, consider being happy for him rather than sad about your own lack.
