What a lovely party! A few of my high school girlfriends and I began our annual Ornament Exchange 30 years ago. I have hosted for the last 25 years. There are 12 of us and we look forward to it every year. We started out as young moms who needed a night out together and now we are showing off pictures of our grandchildren. It has been a tradition that we hold dear and everyone makes every attempt to be there. We have a box that one year I wrapped my ornament in and it has been passed back and forth amongst us for about 26 years. It is a little tattered and we have all added our name and the year we "got the box" inside. It is a treasure. It is so nice to see how you are a wonderful host and I am sure your friends appreciate all of your efforts!

The evening couldn't be more elegant and put together. You always have an idea to showcase, even if it's from other sources. Despite a mistake or two you still put it into production and it comes out beautiful in the end.

I fire burning in the wood burning fireplace is the best part of winter if you ask me. I make a fire almost every night 😀When I am having the family over and its going to be quite a few people I use the fire log like you did because you get the look without intense heat and also, you don't have to constantly tend it (adding new logs etc). Nothing says cozy like a crackling fire!

This is great I use to do that with a few girlfriends when I was raising my son I was a single mom so we put a cap on the ornament no more than 6 dollars and it was so fun every Christmas to get and give ornaments. I love the tins as well great guest gifts. Great job Mama !

What a lovely evening! Our ladies Bible study did an ornament exchange one year. It was fun. It is so nice than Dan takes the kids out so you can have a ladies evening. You both are blessed in that !

We had a real fireplace in my childhood home. I miss it. You are right. You will get more comfortable as you use it. I loved the ornament you exchanged. If I had been there, I would have hoped to go home with that one. ☺️

Looks like it was a wonderful evening! It's great that you and your friends make time to get together even though so busy with young families. And yes, though Duraflame logs are so good. You can also put one under the grate to light the real fire wood for a larger fire.

So inspiring!!! Taking notes for myself next year. I bet your guests feel so welcome and treasured. A tip I was given this year was to use powdered sugar instead of flour to roll the gingerbread. I haven’t tried it but she said it keeps the cookies from getting tough.

That looked like so much fun! I would have loved to have been there! 😊 I only knew the two names you mentioned. I know the Crachetts were from Dickens, but didn’t remember the wife’s first name. I have no idea who those other characters were.😮 I have never heard of pavlova. It looked absolutely amazing with the strawberries and pomegranate!
