We Love Flea and wewere happy he was there. Bachir Attar and The Master Musicians of Jajouka. We were honored to be a part of this event and we love you Ornette.Bachir Attar
No idea why this short 12 minute clip is entitled , " Ornette Colman's Meltdown ." A quick peek into his world would have been more appropriate . The only meltdown I see is on the person who chose the title since Ornette's name is not even spelled correctly : Colman
The Meltdown festival is held every year at the Royal Festival Hall when an artist is asked to curate the festival. In June 2009 Ornette Coleman was the curator. This is a short film of the 2009 Meltdown and some of the artists involved.
There's nothing wrong with Al MacDowell's playing ( the guy with the Sterling bass - it's clearly not a Stingray). He was part of Ornette's regular band here - Flea was an invited guest. The comment about Al not leaving musical space for Flea seems to me to be nonsense.
There is SO much beauty here, but please, Jon...spell Ornette's name right, and change it to something like "Ornette Coleman Redux" or "Ornette Coleman Celebrated"...SOMETHING...there is no meltdown here....there is melt UP.
