It's pronounced "tweer", like steer. You're welcome.

No its not. It's French for "pipe" - and it is pronounced like the French, unless you're a Feench Canadian in which case it's "whagarbl"

Nice! The only thing I might have done different, is make a dirt mound for the tatara to sit on, so you could do slag taps.

This is a remelt not a smelt which means there can be very little to no slag. A true tatara needs to be much taller for smelting iron ore.

It depends on what you are making. If you are doing orishigane or harth steel you can run it for about an hour. To smelt iron from ore you need a taller stack and need to run it for a lot longer 4 to 6 hours is normal.

What metal did you use . Cause I have a couple hundred rail road spikes HC that I’m planing to use to mage some blades .
@nickwoo2

I used rebar. The hc spikes are only are .3 or .4 carbon if I remember correctly so they would work well for orishigane. I wouldn't use them as is though.

How about wrapping a high carbon metal on the out side of the RR spikes.

Maybe a stupid question, but for how long do you run it? When do you know when it is ready?
@nickwoo2
