The orthodox seem to pull so much might from the Spirit. They understand that the Spirit is a endless well that we can all pull strength and hope from. Whenever we need it, whenever the time comes, it is always there for you. Amen.
Wow. He just put all my thoughts in order ! I realized a little while ago that we are constantly bombarded with temptation to sin of all sorts..i didnt know how we are supposed to fight all that. Makes total sense. God Bless everyone.
O Lord magnify the words of this wonderful Spirit-filled preacher; this illness also comes with internet "news" which capitalizes on the horrible things happening in the world without telling the marvels of miracles from the merciful Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, Orthodox Christians read the lives of ("real" saints not only monks but lay persons which we can derive courage from reading)! Thank you for this post dear Brothers and Sisters!
This elder is filled with wisdom and courage. But what I’m trying to see is that what shall one do? Is it possible to win the war? It’s almost hopeless. I fail and fail every time. I’m tricked time and time again by the devil and his demons and laid a trap on.
I grew up going to monasteries regularly and of course the jesus prayer is part of me so young and learned as a child to tie prayer ropes. Yes some aspects of this I agree with but mental illness has no cure like diabetes and may need medical treatment. By the way I understand certain conditions first hand and some situations never got cured by regular fasting, confession, communion, prayer etc.
00:21 Yes, indeed, dispiritedness will lead to depression, and even mental disorders... If Bruce Jenner, for instance, would reclaim his sexuality, he would finally find peace... ...Would that our charismatic pastors in the pulpits possessed the wisdom and saintliness of the Orthodox brethren! /Lonewolf Liberties
Thank you, what a great message. And wow, the Greek byzantine chanting is beautiful. It gave me goosebumps and shivers.. I believe this is the translation: "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and to those in the tombs, granting life."
Oh man, did he get this right! I was feeling bad about how I spoke to someone & it was weighing on me. I said the Jesus prayer, really meaning it, & the bad feeling was lifted immediately and I felt validated where my feelings were valid and my wrongs were swept away. No more beating myself up. Bless you for this!
Hristos Anesti in Greek. Try Divna Ljubojevic. Im in love with her version. Otherwise, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M1vPn5KTTT4.html 🙂
There is practical knowledge here for sure, but he definitely does not understand that some people actually have brains wired towards mental unhealth. He talks about logical disruption of one's personality, like maaaaaaan I don't even have a sense of self. This definitely could apply to someone neurotypical falling into negative thought patterns I think though.
