Ascent via Hintergrat and descent via normal route makes for a perfect travese of Ortler. Also described as one of the greatest tours in Eastern Alps. Overall difficulty is AD, IV, 40-45°.
It was quite chilly for end of July so I had to climb in down jacket the whole time but as we reached the top it suddenly got very warm so I could finally take the down jacket off. :D
