Used my smart phone, the strong light showed up the small pinpricks, including one in the boot area. Tested my Orvis waders in the pool all ok. Will use them next week.
I've been repairing my waders for decades. The way to find pinhole leaks is to rub the inside of your waders with a cotton ball or towel soaked with rubbing alcohol. Leaks will turn dark. You circle them with a marker, and then repair with Aquaseal or even Loon UV sealant, which dries instantly and lasts years. Leaks in neoprene require the more exhausting methods of detection.
My old Orvis waders need all the seams fixed. I did the foot part, but have been putting off the legs and crotch area. I'm surprised there aren't more places out there that "rebuild" waders by fixing the seams as I bet that is where most of the leaks occur.
I have new Orvis pro waders, after 3 days of fishing water is pushing through the material on my right foot. at the height of the shoe covers. no visible damage, almost new.. can I repair it like in the video? or send it in directly under warranty? I think it's a manufacturing problem, built at the point where the transitions are and the material is 3-4 layers.
I recommend your next pair of waders comes from simms… I know it’s a little strange to say that but simms has never failed me and I do a ton of bushwhacking when I fish
