Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role goes to... #RRRForOscars #Oscars2023 #RRRMovie #AcademyAwards #rrr #bestactor #bestactress #academyawards
Fun facts: - Michelle Yeoh and Halle Berry were both winners of beauty pageant in their respective countries: Michelle Yeoh: Miss Malaysia 1983 Halle Berry: Miss USA 1986 - both actors were Bond's Girl: Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies 1997, Berry in Die Another Day 2002 - alongside the same Bond's Pierce Brosnan. - both actors made history by becoming the first Asian actress and the first Black actress to win the Academy Award for Actress in Leading Role for EEAAO 2023 and Monster's Ball 2001respectively. Congratulations to Michelle Yeoh on your well-deserved win at this year Oscar!
It's because Halle Berry was the last and only actress of color to win Best Actress since now Michelle Yeoh. So who better to hand that award than Ms. Berry.
@@thewkovacs316 Jaime Lee is one of my favouite actresses, however her part in Everything Everywhere All At Once, while very well done as usual, was nwhere near as impressive as the performances put on by Kerry Condon and Angela Basset
I love how Halle Berry was seemingly fated to present the award. Traditionally, the Best Actress in a Leading Role is presented by the previous year's Best Actor in a Leading Role winner. I thought it was quite symbolic seeing the first woman of color to win the award hand over the trophy to the second woman of color to do so. 👏👏👏
'of color' ? Please try and learn people's identites. They aren't "of color" (by which you just mean 'not white'): one is african american, one is malaysian.
@@Tao_Tology I'm sorry, I'm genuinely confused. Is the use of POC now not politically correct or acceptable? I do not mean any disrespect by using the term. I do know that they belong to different races but was specifically categorizing them, as you say, non-whites to differentiate from other recipients of the same award. If not POC, how would you rather me call them?
@@boredstranger7522 "how would you rather...." A more accurate description would be like I said in my earlier comment. It's not inaccurate to say 'poc' but it loses detailm
proud to be Malaysian.. Very Well Deserved our own Michelle Yeoh.. Congratulations. First Malaysian & Asian to win Best Actress in a Leading Role.. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cate should have won it. Hands down the best performer out of the 5 nominees. Michelle had the first Asian to win an Oscar award hype, history in the making stuff so she was destined to win. Michelle did a great job too but I feel like Cate should have won.
@@secrets.295 Do you think she would have won if she was in some film about a Geisha? That usually clicks more deeply with white European descended American audiences as the kind of “hard life of sacrifice” role that could potentially earn an Asian actress an Oscar, maybe.
Such a feel-good moment for everyone! Watching Michelle Yeoh winning the award is like seeing someone from your family getting the prize. Congratulations Malaysia!! Love from Singapore.💐
My family? Cut out that crap. A privilidge womab who comes from privilidged and wealthy family doesn't represent the majority of other Asian woman who struggle everyday. "Your family" my ass.
Michelle Yeoh was outstanding for giving a speech with so much sincerity. This woman has proven herself extremely worthy of inspiring more aspiring actors to continue to work hard no matter what happens.
I haven't seen Michelle's movie yet but I did love Tar because I'm a big fan of Cate's. Can't wait to see Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. 😊🥰❤ All of these actresses are incredible, talented and amazing.
Michelle gave a stunnign performance that could compte side by side with Blanchet, one of my favorite actress is Cate, but Michelle Yeoh Performance is just unforgetable
You are going to love EEAO too. "TÁR" have been sitting in my file storage for months. I've been trying to squeeze it in my busy schedule. I've watched EEAO and I haven't watched TÁR but I know I'm going to love TÁR too. For me, both films have really exciting prompt.
Thank you showing all the nominated film clips and actresses names being called......rather than from just "and the Oscar goes to"....thank you this is SO AWESOME!! Saved into my EEAAO file ❤🔥
Most of these actresses already knew that they were just there and just hope they’re good enough to win, when they already know which actress has an number one chance at winning already
@@munci6474 Since they are all women in that group, the only 'woke' that you could be imagining is her ethnicity. 😂 Look at you, soaking yourself in hatred.
Cate Blanchett should've won, her performance in Tar is on par with F Murray in Amadeus, but like the guy above me said, this shit is woke and has to be woke for "diverse" reasons
@@Tao_Tology Cate Blanchett deserved the win. Her performance in Tar was way more universal than some asian chick's in a corny cringy save the world movie
This is an amazing moment for the Asian community. And I am overjoyed by this, truly. I love Michelle. ❤ I remember when Halle Berry won that best lead role. I know exactly what it meant for the Black community. A big big congratulations to Michelle. ❤❤
Such long time coming. But worth the wait. Remember, it's never about the destination, but the journey we all take to get there. Congratulations, Ms. Yeoh!!
Aside from a few cringy Kimmel skits this year's ceremony was actually good - worthy winners, memorable speeches, capped off with this historic moment.
Ofc you're white. Now you suddenly you're having an outcry cuz your fellow white woman isn't winning for the first time in 92 years. Keep crying cuz this will keep happening. Things are changing
"The academie" had to give it to Michelle, as she is old, asian, a woman and playing in a martial art film...well...it´s WOKE...and part of the agenda...and...TAR is far to intelligent and just pure ART...the US doesn t get this, they never did!
Everything Everywhere All at Once was described as therapy by someone online. It kind of was like receiving therapy. It doesn't seem all that serious at first, but then it is, and if you look back, one realises it is actually a serious performance.
Not going to lie. I haven’t watched Oscars for at least 18 years. Tonight is the first time I rooted for Michelle and her crew and watched quite a bit of the show.
