What she said at the end to her mother and father. It was just like a little girl coming home from school and telling her parents that she won something that day. Beautiful.
Your name truly suits you. This is the perfect comparison and probably the only one that should be done of a little girl and a woman. As a matter of fact, I would hope that all of us keep part of our inner child alive (innocence and happiness) until our last breath. Clearly, you lost yours along time ago. Truly despicable comment you made
@@typical_snowflake stop being such an idiot They're comparing the innocence of an inner child that we should all have, but clearly you lost yours way too long ago

Curtis and Yeoh are great actresses who were snubbed at awards for decades because they liked doing genre films. Seeing them both get their first Oscar for the same unconventional movie is awesome.
you are blinded... as long as they are there, its a fake ass show.. they show you exaclty what you wanna see and that how TV function, but you are truely to naive to see that..
It was not deserved at all. Jamie Lee Curtis is an amazing actor and person but out of all the nominees, her performance was the least Oscar worthy. Angela Bassett deserved it more.
When she says "I'm hundreds of people" and also "We just won an Oscar together!" really give me chill.. And the last line really got me tear up.. So happy for her win..
Yes, being grateful with the ppl who supported her movies and watch her that was so humble of her. Also her parents were Hollywood royalty, great actors both.
Me too🎉❤Jamie Lee Curtis is a lady full of class. This is the most proper way I have seen when a person is to accept an award. I am very proud of Mrs. Curtis.
The fact she didnt expect to win make this even more beautiful to me. For 46 years Jamie Lee has been in the industry. For 46 years she's been seeing her peers get Oscars and other awards. Never once had she been disappointed or acted like she was robbed. She always applaud and was proud and so happy for the winners. I'm so glad she got her Oscar, she is such a great actress and such an amazing person all around. She won this Oscar and she deserved to be celebrated!
@@syafkhai9218 You're literally saying she knew she was going to win when she clearly didnt by her reaction lol So I assume you say such things because AB didnt win
I mean I watched back at the Sags awards like Jamie Lee Curtis reaction for both here and sags she really didn’t expect to win for either of those awards but I did love how genuine she was when accepting both awards
Jamie Lee, like most actors and actresses, entered the industry not expecting they will ever win an Oscar or any of the big awards. Bette Davis said in an interview with Dick Cavett (posted on RU-vid) that you enter this industry because you wanted to and loved to do the work first and foremost. Fame and awards may come in time but should not be the reasons why you're here.
Stephanie being so happy that she was almost crying was so sweet and heart warming, she didn’t care that she lost she was just so happy that someone so amazing and deserving of an Oscar has finally won one
@@poonl2532 I’m aware of that, but look at Angela who is around the same age as Stephanie if I’m not mistaken. With your logic they should both have the same happy reaction because they have more “chances”, but Angela is the polar opposite of Stephanie, she’s bitter. What I’m trying to say is, young actors sometimes lose to already accomplished actors and can sometimes be jealous or bitter, Stephanie acting the way she did shows that she’s not like that and she has a good heart :)
@@samuellivingston5255 "she's bitter" she wasn't showing on a 4 second camera pf her reaction clapping, for that is bitter? It's surprise considering jamie had the weakest performance of the 5
“Well deserved” please get your facts right she did not deserve this award at all. Stephanie or Angela had way better performances but no, an old Zionist gets the award instead.
Throughout her speech she kept saying “we won an Oscar” until that last moment when she talked about her parents and let out “I just won an Oscar”. You can tell how much this meant to her to give so much credit to everybody, but she gave herself that last moment. Years of living in her parents’ shadow and never getting a nomination, then to finally win. I know she didn’t plan all that in her head, but it makes for such a special moment
She didn't live in her parents' shadow, she was able to make a name of herself and be more than a nepo baby, just like Carrie Fisher did. To me she was honoring her parent who didn't win that award but in a way they did it through her. Specially Tony, he deserved the Oscar for Spartacus.
Stephanie Hsu’s scream at 2:15 was great to see!! She didn’t care that she lost, she was happy that Jamie Lee Curtis finally won an Oscar 😊and Jamie Lee screaming Shut Up was funny 😆
Everyone around her was winning that's such a great environment to be in, like she knows those people and their story more power for her and hopefully she'll win too!
Everyone who won in the acting categories, Michelle, Brendan, Ke and Jamie, their speeches were filled with humility and gratitude. All of them really deserved their wins
@@priyankarmajumder4152 Why should it be one or the other for the fans? People can love both. I love them both. I screamed when I saw Angela in AHS for example. I think they are both national treasures.
She's the true definition of genuine. From her reaction to hearing her name, to nearly crying from telling her parents that she won. Jamie Lee Curtis deserved this all the way.
Jamie Lee Curtis spent her whole life, her career, making movies that most of Hollywood and certainly the Oscars turn their noses up to. Despite that shunning of the snobs and arteests, the rest of us ordinary people absolutely adored her work and held her close in our hearts. To see her finally get the recognition of an Oscar is a tearful moment.
i love the excitement shown by Stephanie Hsu. She didn't win but she was probably as happy for Jamie Lee Curtis, as she would have been by winning her own. Classy. I wish her a long and successful career.
I honestly have never bothered to watch the Academy Awards, but just had to seek this one out. Jamie Lee Curtis seems like a great person as well as a terrific actress. Seeing her reaction and genuine joy and gratitude made me smile. Congratulations on a well-deserved win!
Best Supporting Actress has usually been very one sided but this year it was actually very competitive as all five were equally deserving of a nomination and all gave tremendous performances. I originally predicted Angela Bassett but was still absolutely delighted for Jamie. Respect. 👏🏻
@@shihlin1 Peaking too early happens all the time at the run of film awards and into the Oscars. Personally I thought EEAAO was just okay, but I’d give it to Curtis over Bassett. Imo Bassett’s performance was like she thought she was in a Shakespeare play and thought she had to out Shakespeare-act the other actors and didn’t know that, as opposed to stage play, in a movie theater even the people at the back can very clearly see your expressions and hear you. But that’s just me, everybody seems to think her performance was great so whatever 😊 Perhaps I’m seeing it wrong but it appears that Bassett isn’t clapping for Curtis and is ‘not amused’ so to say?
@@shihlin1 Agreed! I think the critics usually get it right so I always predict after that, they follow suit. O well. It would have been nice to see Angela win. Congrats to Jamie though.
@@mabusestestament EXACTLY. She overacted like crazy and gave a one-note performance, full of laughable intensity, whereas Chadwick Boseman displayed “regal” with MUCH more subdued acting.
Loved Jamie's tribute to her parents because she wouldn't be there if it wasn't for them getting her into the industry. RIP Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis.
I'm sitting in a Starbucks in Madrid, Spain watching this. I literally feel like I just won. I am overjoyed. I have idolized Jamie since i was 7 years old and saw Halloween. And the WE WE WE .... that is what it is all about. She gets it. Life is a WE thing. So happy right now.
Im sitting in a Costa Coffee in Ireland watching this.😁 Its raining outside (typical!). I remember Jamie the most from Trading Places as a young lad. Fair play to her here for the win.👍
When she mentioned the horror fans who supported her all these years I felt seen! Such a great and humble human being she is. As a horror fan, and with her blessing now we can say: we just won an Oscar!!
I’ve watched this many times, when Jamie says “to my mother & father, who were both nominated in different categories, I just won an Oscar “ makes me cry every time
For awhile, Jamie Lee Curtis had stopped acting. She said that she became selective with her projects so she could spend more time with family and indicated she would probably quit soon. It’s great that she returned and won an Oscar!
So humble and real... I for one really appreciate that JLC never went for surgery or bullshit to look younger. She's aged and just went with it. I think she's just gorgeous at every stage of her wonderful career!
It is so hard when you've lost a parent or parents and then these great things happen in your life, but they arent there to see them. But, maybe in some way their passing is what changes your course in life. I think about how if my dad was still alive if I would have met my husband or not. When my dad died, I realized how alone I suddenly was, and that I needed a partner who was as supportive and caring as my dad had been. If my dad hadn't passed, I wouldnt have put myself out there to find someone, and I'd still be single or married to a person who may not have been the right person. Maybe things happen like they are supposed to happen. That the worst thing that had happened to me was the reason why I have the life I have now. And like her, hopefully my dad is proud of what I have done and who I am.
@@KHobbies_cina they all were though, that’s the point. Doesn’t look great. She wasn’t clapping in any shot she was in, not even at the end. Let’s face it, a marvel movie even being nominated for an acting category is an outside chance, she wasn’t exactly going to shine with voters was she.
@L'Ephebe Yeah, Glenn's lost at least 6 times that I know of. I hope next time Glenn beats her. Glenn knows she doesn't need the Oscar to know she's wonderful.
Because her feelings were hurt ? Angela dominated award season out of five award shows she won three straight and when everyone is telling you you’re gonna win and you don’t your hurt she did eventually clap but she wasn’t required to put on a fake smile
@@marcusmelancon3426the Oscars always went by sag awards winners which Jamie won so everyone should've known. Angela dominated in the other big categories but the others three ladies dominated at the other awards. The other women had more awards and nominations than Jamie and Angela.
This speech always melts my heart, recognizing the horror movies fans and taking us up there with her it’s such a kind gesture, so yes, it turns out we just won an Oscar.
That is why I love Jaime Lee she recognized how horror was a big part of her career and she shared that moment with those fans of that genre. Most shy sway from it but she never has. ❤
She’s been such an inspiring woman. I remember when she came out to support those with body and food issues by exposing her own. She is amazing! Smart! Beautiful!
Few people can claim to be in the industry for almost 50 years and leave their mark on every decade with memorable performances in each. Hell, her very first movie role was Lori friggin' Strode from Halloween. And she just kept going from there. Congrats!
I can’t stop laughing at her shocked reaction. She was about to fall out of her chair. “SHUT UP!” 😮 she always have been my most favorite actress along with Angela. I can’t draw a wedge between them. They both deserve an Oscar.
Jamie Lee Curtis has got to be one of the most fabulous, talented, and classy actresses I've ever seen! I love you Jamie... I have ever since Halloween 🎃!!
Yes, I agree. I have been a fan of Jamie ever since I saw her in Halloween. I was 14 and my brother snuck me in. The movie terrified me but I will never forget falling in love with Laurie Strode. She is now an Oscar winner and more radiant than ever!!!
All of nominees were so great and Jamie was cream of cake - what an outstanding performance from her and a great warm speech incl. remembering her parents ❤️
I've been a fan of her ever since I saw her for the first time in my alltime fav horror movie Halloween (1978). Very well deserved Jamie!!! Congratulations!!!👏👏❤❤
Absolutely priceless!! So well deserved - she's always given 110% in every role she's ever played. Mom Janet Leigh and dad Tony Curtis would've been so incredibly proud!!
All the winners this year were deserving of the Oscar. All the contenders were also deserving. Long time since I had seen something like this and to see the genuine shock in their faces, the humbleness in their speeches, the tears in their eyes, it was incredible. No pretendíng, no masks, just real people, and thats what we need in this social media era. Loved it! I am writing from Mexico and at least here and other latinoamerican countries Jamie Lee Curtís is a very well known actress, as talented as the others but more famous, wich makes you kinda feel like someone close to you won.
Such a strong category this year. I can honestly say that I would've been fine with all five women and all five characters getting their due recognition. As for Angela, she has given an exquisite memorable performance in Wakanda Forever and I salute the woman, who, in my humble opinion, doesn't "need" the Academy's approval to be iconic. Obviously, I feel Angela's honest disappointment when her name wasn't called. Regardless of that, in a line-up full of strong women and performances, that would've been the time to support a great colleague who's made it in this tough business, at least symbolically! A queen also knows when to salute another, and the fact that Angela refused to clap a single time for another remarkable woman in this industry, let alone one who'd been snubbed for decades by the Academy, was a gesture of bitterness and resentment that was beneath her. It really disappointed me.
Agreed! I don’t know how anyone could go into these award shows believing that they will win. You should never expect anything and you should be happy for whoever wins, even if it’s not you. I found her reaction very off putting. She’s a phenomenal actress. Not winning an award doesn’t take away from that.
Agreed. Angela is astonishing, but Jamie gave a better performance in my opinion. Women should be supporting women. Angela's cold behavior actually makes me happy she didn't win it.
Who doesn't go seriously into acting (or any other endeavor) not thinking of ever being recognized for it? Anyone can process loss however they want. She's a great actress but she doesn't need to act outside performances for your personal satisfaction. Besides, we didn't see her reaction besides that ~1 second after the announcement. So don't act like we can know the person in that split second. If I wanted to see it that way, I can also paint the other nominees as not truly happy for Jamie, clapping the way they clapped.
@@markmywords3817 but itll though, not much was needed to understand she wasn't happy about it. After all, this is an award ceremony, it will not affect her career. It's nice to win but i think it's nicer to just see humble acts of admiration towards your colleages.
I never watch the Oscars but as a horror fan and fan of JLC, I had to watch this video of her acceptance speech - she made me cry. JLC deserved this … big time. ❤
Angela Bassett literally had one epic scene where she says she lost everyone. That's fueled by emotion from losing Chadwick Boseman. The rest of the film her acting wasn't even nearly as spectacular. Jamie Lee Curtis had to play multiple characters where she was a suma wrestler, a lover, a friend and an accountant. You can't compare the two. If you say she was robbed you just looking at skin color tbh
The Academy is giving Angela an Honorary Oscar this year. SOunds tome they are doing this to say sorry you lost last year. I also think it is a slap to jamie Lee.
The Oscars this year deserve an Oscar! It had everything!!! Perfect. Brought us back to how the Oscars should be... Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! Fantastic!!
what an amazing speech! She totally deserves this Oscar not only for this movie but for Halloween, True Lies, A Fish Called Wanda, Freaky Friday, Trading Places and Knives Out.
Stephaine and Michelle's reaction to their co star winning is perfection. Everyone seems so happy for her. Some even crying with her. I'M crying with her!
She and her dad were never really close; he was absent for most of the time they were both on Earth. She had a much tighter bond with her mom. But here, she speaks to both of her parents, and can feel that they both are proud of her, wherever they are. A truly wonderful thing to witness.
As Someone Who has admired her work since 35 years ago this Is just..long due and beautiful, hopeful that good things do still happen to the right ones.
SHE'S MY GIRL!! OMG!! I LOVE HEEEER SO MUCH!! 💗 Congratulations Jamie, you really deserves this! After ALL these years that she made a thousand of movies, she really deserves it for her great work as one of the best actress in the world!
Such a wonderful moment. I've loved Jamie Lee Curtis ever since I first saw Halloween back when I was 8 years old. It goes to show what an incredible woman she is that she gave the horror/genre community a shout out in her acceptance speech, she has never shied away from, or been ashamed of that side of her career (unlike some actors/actresses). What an inspirational woman and a well deserved Oscar.
Oh I just got so teary eye with her when she mentioned her mom and dad in her speech. She's like that little girl who's so excited to come home to share something great to her parents because they were the first ones she wanted to embrace the news with. I feel like it's full circle with her and family. Beautiful and sentiment.
I literally couldn't be happier or more tearful! JLC is iconic as far as i am concerned, Tony and Janet would be beside themselves that finally she has complete recognition for the superb Actress she is.
I have watched this so many times. Love Jamie and glad she finally got recognised for her work! Everything about this was perfect. Love her speech perfect achknowledging her fans. Love that she says “we” until talking to her parents changing to “I” truely beautiful. And also Stephanie’s reaction! Everyone needs a friend like that
It’s so well deserved! When she hears her name, you can read her lips, and I think she is so overwhelmed that she is saying: "Shut up!" - which is a beautiful honest reaction to ❤
Jamie deserved many more. She was always gracious about everyone else's wins over the years. She will always be my favourite actress , I loved her in all her movies. 💞💞
You would never know that she is a Baroness, so humble and kind 😉 (her husband is Lord Christopher Haden Guest, Fifth Baron Haden-Guest). Yes, this is a fun fact I just discovered.
