@@soil80 I actually liked the sequel characters as their characters, but that’s why it was extra painful, because I was literally seeing potential turn to dust in front of my eyes and actors talents wasted so we could get a moment for the reylo freak shows who don’t even give a fuck about Star Wars
Imagine you're on set for the "last" Star Wars film. You grew up watching the Star Wars movies and dreamed of being a part of that universe, now you are. All previous works and 40+ years led to what you were working on right now. And you get told that the plot of the movie is basically summed up in that one line that you of all people have to deliver to the camera. I'd be done 2 weeks prior.
Yeah his lack of effort (rightfully so lol) in that acting performance was the most striking thing about that disaster of a movie. I don’t recall noticing such a lack of effort from an actor in any other movie off the top of my head
Yeah, only a handful of people didn't but only for their own petty reasons like Portman who complained about it ruining her acting career but now she's begging to be put back into capeshit for attention lmao
I think he accepted moon knight because the script and the show is going to become very daredevil-esque, in a sense that it will be very gritty. The daredevil show felt more like a drama/thriller than a superhero film thats 70% acting and 30% the superhero shtick, thats probably what he is aiming for.
@Steve Adams He was asked a question in an interview? Hardly delusional, in fact I applaud him for straying from the boring popcorn films that franchises like star wars have become
@@ggt47 he actually is lol. He's doing marvel. But he knows disney have bigger fish to fry than him. He's still very useful to them. He will sell tickets and subscriptions just on name alone.
@@manz7860 Why are you speaking as if he's some fucking worthless puppet lmao. Fuck outta here. Dunno much of the guys history but he's far more relevant than you'll ever be so.
Keep in mind that many of these actors were very excited to see what would happen with their characters after The Force Awakens… even if you didn’t particularly like that first film there’s no question that most people were still on board and interested in the franchise at the time. It was the sequels that ultimately killed it. It’s actually startling to see how far Star Wars has fallen. Nowadays the actors openly joke about it and how the only incentive to be involved again is through a large paycheck… it honestly makes me very sad that one of the most iconic aspects of my childhood is now treated with such disrespect… I can’t say it’s not warranted though, damn…
I agree, I thought the first movie was pretty bad, but did leave some room to expand, whoever wrote it deserves to never work in the industry again though, the hostage scene was just so unbelievably bad I could not even imagine someone thinking that was even a plausible solution. The nail for me was the prank call during space battle, I walked out and never saw the third movie. From what I have read I didn't miss much.
@@Plainsburner If you walked out that early in the second one you did miss some pretty fun stuff in the 2nd and 3rd acts. Far from perfect but easily the best of that trilogy. Third film was atrocious though.
ya I was more or less fine with tfa. I was dissapointed that it was just a rehash with hardly a single new idea, but at least it was lit well, with good sets, costumes, effects, and decent acting.... but then the last Jedi came out and I watched it and I was like, "ummm, why are all the men acting like jerks and idiots and why are there all these random women bossing people around and yelling and womansplaining? and what's with Luke being such a baby and Jan being such a loser, and general his being comically stupid and angry all the time? then I noticed that some people, even men my age said they saw it and thought it was great and started to realize something really weird was going on. why do they honestly like this dumb crap? what's going on here? what's wrong with these people. I really started to think, maybe these kind of people are different from me? are they so spineless and stupid they can't even admit that they've been insulted or is it that they just honestly don't care?
I just remember back during interviews about The Force Awakens when he was SO PUMPED to be in Star Wars; talking about getting the call, How he used to have lightsaber fights with his friends, How _Return of the Jedi_ was the first film he saw in a movie theatre and it's strong emotional connection to his childhood, how his uncle is the biggest Star Wars fan he's ever met and got to be in a scene with him, how it's important to him that the Yavin IV scenes were shot in Guatemala (where he was born) and wanted Poe to ALSO be from Yavin IV. And now he's like "eegh, nope. over it. I'm done." and it breaks my heart a bit, seeing the difference 5 years of being a cog in the corporate _'Lucasfilm Story Group'_ machine can do. He probably doesn't watch the Mandalorian, but with his connection to Return of the Jedi, I wonder how the last couple of beats in the S2 finale would make him feel.
Him and pedro(the actor who plays the mandalorian) are best friends for almost 2 decades now and oscar was the one who convinced him to be the mandalorian so he probably watches it I think he just got disappointed with how bad the sequels were and how poor written the characters were including his but he still loves the original movies
@@raffzz453 Agreed I love Palpatine as a character and all but 9 movies is all basically him behind everything. The prequel is understandable because its how he become the Emperor, the OT... Well its the OT. But Sequel, what did you bring him back for, is boring at that point.
@@SlimKim3 No no the dislike isnt directed at the actors but the writers, directors, and the head for letting the writers and directors butcher things into a disjointed mess. Finn, Phasma, and Poe are the three characters they really screwed up. One accomplished nothing while the other two were sacrificed to build other characters. Heck Poe even had his droid taken. Finn of course was the worst actually going devolving in TLJ from a force sensitive former stormtrooper to someone who piggybacks while screaming Rey all the time. From the stories they had fun under JJ but did not under RJ bit were then denied the two movie split for the finale.
@@DoamBot You just haven't been looking in the right places because there are a bunch of fans who don't like the sequel Trilogy and blame it on the actors not just the characters. Also I don't know where you're getting this idea that criticism normally goes to JJ Abrams Rian Johnson and the writers too because it doesn't. The only person Star Wars fans put the blame on is Kathleen Kennedy when in reality she can only do so much because she's not a filmmaker on set everyday nor a director or writer she puts everything in place. Yes as the head of lucasfilm she deserves some blame when it comes to things people don't like but you guys point all the blame toward her which isn't fair.
@@SlimKim3 In the same reply you said fans blame the actors as well as the writers, then the fans placed all the blame on Kennedy. Although I do agree that the actors get unfairly hated on, I don't think it was as bad as some think. Most of the blame goes to KK and RJ, which it should. Some goes to JJ, like the fact that he didn't reunite Hamill, Ford and Fisher.
@@jamesgarretson2922 I meant some fans blame actors for not liking their characters tho it's not they're fault but when it comes to putting blame on the people who actually make the movie's it's all unfairly put on KK. I'm glad that you're at least acknowledging more than one person who deserves blame for the movies not being liked by some people but the reality close to all fans give directors and writers a pass and just blame her.
@@pulkmees true but he actually convinced me he was 2 or 3 completely different people within a 30 minute span. It usually falls flat and doesn't work with most actors. He pulled it off. @@FOXCYBORGNINJA metal gear will be bad. He's making an amalgamation of multiple games. Anyone who actually understands metal gear knows that's brain dead, as each game is designed around their own specific themes that really aren't related. Mgs1 is gene, 2 is meme, and 3 is theme. Trying to make a movie of multiple games is directly diluting the message and making a mess. "Hideo has his blessing though", mgs1-3 aka the actually well written ones all had a ghostwriter. He wasn't involved after 3 and it shows. Hideos word literally means nothing. Everyones expecting a poignant, impactful movie from the guy who made kong skull island. I mean joker was directed by the guy who directed the hangover but still, jokers info was good from the start. All the info we have on the metal gear movie is not good. Concept art of the skulls with 20 geckos on shadow mosses is just so insanely dumb that it's as fan fictiony as it can get. It's going to be a disaster. If he actually had a clue he'd start with an adaptation of snake eater and it's themes. Then he'd do mgs1. Personally I'd stop there because 2 works far far better as a playable experience than it would as a movie and everything else is just not worth adapting.
I couldn’t help but notice he says “incredible artists, actors, prop makers, set designers” and omits directors & writers- usually actors would talk about them long before they get to the “prop makers & set designers” LOL No offense to either of those groups- the sets & props are probably the best part of Disney SW trilogy
Except it was a decent trilogy. Every movie more than exceeded expectations financially. The force awakens was a success both critically and financially, The Last Jedi was a success financially and critically and Rise of Skywalker was success financially and audience wise.
@@Marin117. which is why I also mentioned two aspects in critically an audience wise but as far as doing well financially just because you have Star Wars in the title tell that to Solo hun.
@@SlimKim3 Last jedi was a success critically? It was objectively the WORST movie in the entire franchise. That film solidified how terrible the sequels were.
People here are misunderstanding Oscar here. He's not saying that he only did the movies for the money. He's saying that he disliked the films so much that he'd only accept a future role in them if he was in desperate need of money, hinting that he does not want to return to Star Wars.
I've been reading the comments and seems to me people know what he means. I don't really see many people "misunderstanding" here, everybody seems to be overwhelmingly on Oscars side.
Can't say I blame him. I mean who the fuck would want to return to a trash company like Disney/Kennedyfilm to portray such a boring and worthless character?
When you sign a contract for what could potentially be some of the greatest blockbusters in a continuation of one of the greatest film franchises of all time, then yeah, no, I don't think he did these movies just for the money. He seemed genuinely excited when promoting TFA. Then TLJ came and I didn't see him so excited anymore. (Not surprising considering how they massacred his character in that film.) By Rise of Skywalker he just looked dead inside.
Yet he was STILL one of the better characters in those wretched abominations Disney dares to call a sequel trilogy. Says a lot about how bad they were.
@@Kevinyoutube6096 Paul was a better pilot than Poe, but he was even more of a hot head, which led to him being rejected by the Resistance, and he went on to become a bounty hunter living in the outer rim.
And then they murdered Poe, my favorite character, in TLJ, then desecrated his corpse in Rise of Skywalker. Oh well, I'm used to my favorite characters dying, I'm just also used to them dying in a more literal sense and not metaphorical sense...
or just make something new something entirely different for god sake this is Star wars not everything will be about the Skywalker's I mean fuck do the ancient Sith I do not care if it's canon thats like at least 8 movies
The thing is, he somehow made me like poe even though every line he had was dumb. Somehow, he was so good with communicating charisma that I still liked his character anyway. He did an amazing job, and actually was able to make something out of garbage.
Hell he was the best character in the last Jedi and that’s after rian butchered him to set up holdo as the most important person instead of obviously being an idiot with no strategic planning ir respect from the crew while Poe was likeable and level headed enough that you totally believe that his action of mutiny was the best course of action

Seriously, they had two great characters to tell a new story: Finn and Poe and they chose to stick with the same old skywalker-like character. Finn and Poe did nothing substantial in this trilogy and they could have done much more.
Well. Rey also technically had an interesting backstory and in TFA she had the thing of "powerful in the Force but doesn't want to be" (that could've been interesting if they'd actually stuck with that, which they didn't). Plus, she wasn't so all-powerful, she did get kidnapped by Kylo Ren. So she had tons of good potential too. They didn't need to make her a Skywalker or related to anyone. Then in TLJ they went full-on Mary Sue with her and erased a lot of what made her interesting in the first place. So disappointing.
@@BadWolfSilence rey was not an interesting character at all. She made the trilogy uninteresting and boring. I don't see where they could have bettered her character, they could only do things different. She definitely should have been supporting cast character. Poe, Finn, and Kylo should have been co leads with Kylo being the main. Kylo is the only character out of that trilogy that holds any water with the OG's.But that's not to say Poe and Finn didn't have potential to be some of the best star wars characters too. They did and it was glaringly obvious. They spent too much time trying to tear down(understatement) what lucas built to introduce a new story that also still feels reminiscent of what lucas built. Star Wars gets its power from archetypal story telling, not from throwing out a level 100 Mary Sue and having her defeat the already dead villain from the last two trilogies again.
imagine you are an actor who always dreamed of being in star wars and you're in it but the movies are so bad that you never want to come across it ever again lmao
I feel like the same thing happened to ewan with the prequels now hes back and wayyy more confident … you never know in a few decades he may come back lol
@@TheDragonsPit look on social media just yesterday a video came out of ewan himself saying how hard the criticism was on prequel he never looked back at those films, now the positivity changed his outlook on star wars
from what i've heard, oscar was actually pretty passionate about his role initially. poe was supposed to die in the beginning of tfa, but oscar lobbied to jj to get him back. he also specifically requested for poe to be from yavin 4 because scenes in yavin 4 were filmed in guatemala, and oscar's guatemala irl. it's a damn shame the shit quality of the dt made him so apathetic.
Frankly out of every movie I’ve seen him in he’s knocked it outta the park, Duke Leto easily had one of the best performances of any character I’ve seen, and Poe was and still is one of (in my opinion) the coolest characters in Star Wars.
I can't blame him too much for feeling that way. I have to wonder in the following years how many horror stories about the development of the ST will surface as everyone's contracts run out.
Sad but also hysterical to know that even they feel the same way so many of us do. Gives me some hope that Disney sees that even their own actors know they're trash and try to change course.
That's a realist right there, who doesn't mind saying the quiet part out loud. I also notice when he mentioned the people he enjoyed the challenge of working with, he failed to mention the writers.
Looking forward to Dune, and can't wait for Metal Gear Solid (he's been my fan cast Snake for a while), but I'd honestly love to see him come back to Star Wars in a few years. @@roostertailspice2482 Yes I agree with you, What I’m saying is that he’s been graying for a while. In Star Wars and a lot of his movies they dye his hair, so seeing him in those compared to real life could be a bit jarring.
omg yeah!!! You're absolutely right! I still don't understand why she needed to be a good pilot. She was already a good fighter so why? Plus it makes Poe kind of irrelevant, he could have filled in that gap if they hadn't done that weird fakeout death for him in TFA (which they shouldn't have). Characters and by proxy the story are made more interesting when they have different skills from each other that are used at different points in the plot. If the heroes would be otherwise screwed without the skills of that one character, that makes them a good character who makes the story more clever and isn't just replaceable baggage, which is what Finn and Poe became because Rey was the one who could just do everything on her own. It sucked!
He was one of the few things i liked about the sequels. And im really glad he wont go so low as to get involved in anything StarWars for the time being. At least util the civil war is finished and Favreau and Filoni come out on top. Even Kevin Feige is chipping in with a movie, that will probably better than any of the sequels (not that its hard).
TFA left a lot of interesting things to speculate. I wanted to know what was gonna happen next, to see where all these awesome new characters are gonna go as I liked all of them. All the actors on it looked like they were having fun. Oh but what came to follow.
I remember an interview with Daisy, and she did not exactly know about some jedi rules ... (like no love, meditation etc) They chose actors that did not know anything about star wars, same for writers, and we know the result
technically jedi could feel love and the other emotions.... there were jedi who even got married the issue ends up being if your emotions control you. if i remember right in the official novelization of episode 3 it is revealed that the jedi council knew about anakin and padme but allowed it because anakin had suffered so much and padme made him happy
actually john boyega i know for sure was a huge sw fan and adam was a fan too, oscar was too, his uncle being a huge fan and oscar got him as a cameo in the movie, you dont have to be a fan of a movie to act well, they all acted amazingly as we can see their talents in other movies and series, theyre the casualty of poor writing, you cant judge daisy not being a sw fan and assume its all the rest
He, Adam Driver, and Ian Mcdiarmid were the only ones who still tried. Honestly, if I were in their shoes I would have given up on trying. I have to respect those three for keeping their integrity as actors (not that I blame any of the actors who didn't try, with their terribly written characters)
Are we talking about Rise of Skywalker? Because I have never seen an actor so openly not care about the movie they were in than Oscar Isaac in that movie.
Well his "somehow Palpatine returned" line made him look super dead inside xD but he is an actor, his job is to act, he will do his duty as best he can regardless of how dead inside he feels lololol Adam Driver is just a gem. I feel bad for Daisy Ridley and John Boyega too. They're both also good actors and good people that got screwed over by this stupid cesspool of filth aka the "sequel trilogy."
Isaac and Boyega, they've been talking a lot about how much they disliked being in Star Wars, but none of them has had the courage to point the finger at Kathleen Kennedy so far. If they are offered the right amount, these two return kissing KK's hands.
I mean only an idiot would say no when offered the amounts they were paid. Remember ultimately they're actors who have no obligation to like star wars just because they were in it.
you get it backward...they've already been kicked out that why they speak shit, the figthing was done during the shooting....now that the contracts are over those 'tardies are speaking out (anything not covered in the contracts....thats why they probably wont say directly people name for 10-15 years, whatever was in the contract)

I remember the beginning of Force awakens with the village was amazing i remember thinking "This is awesome Poe is gonna help this Storm trooper become a Jedi and they are gonna be like Han and Luke." But I ate those words the moment they went on sand planet 2 😭😭 Poe and Finn should of been the main characters even if neither became a Jedi.
Funny how during the making of The Farce Awakens, he begged Abrams to not kill off his character ( Poe was supposed to die ). Pretty sure he wishes the character died in the first movie now ! Well at least he got to make bank
He does. There's a vid where he literally says he didn't know what he was getting himself into, and expresses regret for not just letting the character die.
ah, damn it. Daisy Ridley said she would come back if John and Oscar did too, and John Boyega said that he would if Daisy and Oscar returned, but this sorta fucks that
There probably isnt going to be more movies following that Storyline to be honest. Seems like Disney has gone all in with the storylines set down from Clone Wars, into Rebels, and now into The Mandalorian. Even the new sequel films are being tied in to that storyline. Since the Sequel Trilogy was set decades after the Battle of Endor (to match the OT actors' age) the new movies / shows have decades of in-universe time to explore the events surrounding heroes and villains of the Mando Timeline. Basically, I don't think any of those 3 will be offered roles for Star Wars again (*possibly* Oscar in his role as Poe), since their characters are now cemented in a timeline that we likely won't return to for the foreseeable future.
almost no one like those... its only the media telling people : oh wow everyone loved it. you have the drones of our society that will insist that they loved it because the tv told them so...but see 3 weeks after they wouldnt remember having seen it
Star wars episode 8 and 9 were sci-fi movies/cinema spectacles, but not really star wars movies. I did enjoy the force awakens quite a lot, mostly due to the nostalgia factor but I also think it did bring potential for interesting storylines but it wasn't capitalized on in later movies
Just look at him now on Moonknight. It just goes to show that one part of Disney actually gives a shit while the other just doesn’t. Oscar for an Oscar
Imagine championing for your character to be gay for 5 years and then have the writer cram an ex girlfriend in for him who does nothing at all for the entire plot of the film
First his character would have died if not for JJ doing him a favor. Then he wants to act like a baby because Disney wouldn't give him his gay ship? The guy was trying to make history, which would have vastly improved his portfolio. Why not ask to be gay in Dune?
I loved him so much as Poe. It would have been great if he actually had something to act in and work with. All of the characters had so much potential and I wouldn't mind íf sometime in the future some talented writer would explore them further. Hopefully in an alternative timeline. ;) But it is great that he has now time to work on other films.
Remember when they all got in? Before the first movie was out or we even knew about the story? The entire cast was so excited. Now they want nothing to do with it.
