When the name "OSCAR PETERSON" comes up,,IM PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN 🇨🇦 & MONTREALER. I'm one who lives in Ottawa, and visits his bronze piano, with him playing, as his songs are playing. Excellent documentry. Well done.
Just seen this film on TV and was surprised to find out that it does not seem to be available to buy on DVD. Any film featuring the greatest Jazz Pianist Ever, is bound to be of interest, and this film was no exception. It could have been better though if only for the fact that to watch and listen to other pianists playing in his style was superfluous. Of course he had a tremendous influence on others, but the film would have been better just to have concentrated fully on the great man himself! Still would like a copy though!
Is it possible to get link or pay for license to watch? Just wondering, why they did such a briliant movie and they haven't posted yet... Such a shame.. :/
You can trust Hollywood to turn musical documentary into a race relations/ political commentary. Not hurrying to see this film, even though I am OP fan. Some of us like to find a refuge from politics in the music. Jazz music supposed to unite all people of all colors and nationalities.
That's so naive. Music is fueled by by the culture it was born in, the eras it was forged within. Music is born through collective strife and terror, blood and pain and in a way it IS what unites all of us. Even genres like Bossa Nova were born and evolved in times of political conflict. I don't like Hollywood pimpimg out race/culture wars to make a buck either, but you can't sugarcoat the American 60s. Jazz like most art is born through alot of pain and you got to accept it.
